Work Text:
Relationships between Nations are very important because of that, it often comes to arranged marriages between the heirs of the royal families.
So the princess Mavuika, who's destined to become the next Queen of the Natlan has been arranged to marry the prince of Khaenr'iah.
Therefore Mavuika often meets up with the prince named Thrain, to get to know one another better.
For their families fortune Mavuika and Thrain get along very well. They share their same values of life, very talented in weaponry and fighting.
It seems like they both are on the same wavelength.
Once so often, one of them visits the other one at their Palast.
They all treat Thrain with kindness and that even outside of his role as Prince and future heir of Khaenr'iah.
Mavuika's Parents especially like him because they see how happy their daughter is around him and vice versa.
"Hello prince Thrain, I hope you are doing well and had a safe journey to our Nation." The King of Natlan greets Thrain with a Kind and professional tone.
Thrain then greets the King back and affirms his own well being and safe journey. "May I ask where Mavuika is?" Just by saying her name makes the prince smile at himself.
He gets to knock on her door, waiting for Mavuika to let him in. Inside her room Thrain gazes at Mavuika sitting in front of an easel but can't clearly see what she's currently drawing.
"Hello Thrain it's a pleasure to see you here." Princess Mavuika smiles at the prince, while she moves her head in his direction.
She sees how Thrain's shining blue eyes lighten up with an equally bright smile.
With this, Mavuika stands up from the wooden stool and away from the easel.
Her sun-like eyes still focused at the ocean blue eyes of Thrain.
In his left hand, Mavuika notices a bouquet, for certain Inteyvats. How romantic of him.
They both meet up in the middle of the room and exchange each other's pleasantries.
So Mavuika slowly reaches for Thrain's hand and squeezes it slightly.
"Since you already took my hand, how about I guide you towards today's destination."
Capitano hums, as he lifts his right hand, where Mavuika's hand is still on.
He now has a better view of the painting.
It's Mavuika with her parents, her sister Hine and their Saurians.
They all look joyous and carefree like a usual family.
It's of course different from the paintings around the Castle, where the Cinder family looks like the royals they are.
These opposites of paintings are quite familiar to the ones around his estate.
Mavuika notices how Thrain stares at her painting and asks about his opinion about it.
"I'm not quite finished yet but what do you think?"
Thrain couldn't do anything besides compliment Mavuika and her painting. He can't wait to see it being finished.
Before they head out Mavuika asks for a minute, so she could change into clothes that are more comfortable.
Then the palm of her hand slowly glides off Capitano's hand, as Mavuika goes inside her walk in closet.
While he waits, Thrain looks for a Vase, where he can put the bouquet in.
Afterwards he sits on the side of the red Queen sized bed, petting the little baby Capybara.
It lays at the end of the bed and looks happy to see Thrain again.
Mavuika and him both joke that her Capybara loves Thrain more than her.
Only when Thrain hears the melodious voice of Mavuika, his attention averts away from the Capybaras and towards his friend.
Thrain looks in awe, seeing Mavuika in a knee length white dress with golden accents. In his eyes, she looks breathtaking. Mavuika notices as well, how her friend is lost in his thoughts.
So she hummingly asks, what Thrain thinks about her dress. It's fairly new and Mavuika thinks Capitano should have the honour, to be the first one, to see her in it.
Of course she lets this little detail out.
"Mph... Mavuika you look good in it or if I may say you look pretty hence beautiful." Thrain says this with such confidence, since it's his truth.
The colours and the way the dress looks like it fits perfectly alongside Mavuika's golden Diadem with the Rubin's in it.
Of course Mavuika hoped for Thrain to compliment her dress.
Yet him using the word beautiful, is something that leaves her stunned, even if it's just for a brief second.
So she manages to let out a brief 'thank you Thrain.' before he suggests heading out now.
After Mavuika informs her parents, that she and the prince will leave the Castle and go outside, they go to the stables.
The staff already prepared their horses for the ride.
Mavuika's and Thrain's horses are in terms of fur and mane the complete opposite.
Mavuika's horse named flare is pure white with a garnet - red saddle.
Meanwhile Thrain's horse named blizzard is pure black with a cerulean - blue saddle.
It was a funny coincidence, when they met each other for the first time in Khaenr'iah and saw their horses.
They both thought their horses suited the prince or princess.
Till this day this opinion hasn't changed
As they sit down on the saddle Mavuika commands their horses to move.
At first the horses start at a slower pace, especially around the Castle but once they are further away Mavuika's and Thrain's horses are catching some speed.
Mavuika and flare often overtake Thrain and blizzard and that with a grinning face.
Yet Thrain has to lead since he knows the destination.
"Blizzard let's go." Thrain silently speaks to blizzard and moves his head a bit towards the horizon. It's a sign for blizzard get even faster. "Mavuika I hope you can catch up to me."
Isn't it Thrain who claims Mavuika is the one to invite for some sort of competition. Now he's the one who incites Mavuika for a race.
Mavuika lets out a similar mph she's used to hear from the prince all too often.
The shining bright red eyes of Mavuika are focused on the black horse and its rider.
They are getting further away from her which should only last for long.
She knows that the Prince must grin as he waits to see Mavuika's shadow behind him.
It's just that Mavuika would like to have other plans in her mind. "Flare why should blizzard lead the way to a place, when we can choose one ourselves. So let's show these two what we got."
With this declaration Flare speeds up her movements, that even Mavuika has to steady her position on the horse.
Nevertheless, it's such a joy for her to see the landscapes with all the trees, flowers and she passes by.
Soon Mavuika and her horse pass by Thrain with a smirk, that says 'this competition hasn't ended yet.'.
This invitation is gladly accepted by Thrain, so they chase one another for at least 10 minutes, till at last they end up at the destined place.
Both Mavuika, Thrain, alongside their horses are quite out of breath.
At least Flare and Blizzard have a river near them to drink out of it
Such competitiveness is on a regular with this two. They always want to see the best out of the other. May it be sword fighting, horse riding or playing chess. It's a way they love to spend time together.
They as well enjoy quieter moments or activities, just like this. Thrain guided Mavuika to an idle place with a beautiful view around the nation.
Thrain offers Mavuika the food he already prepared at certain place.
So they both eat certain food while talking about idle stuff.
For example Thrains friends in Khaenr'iah are doing or when the next Pilgrimage will be held. Just the trivial things.
At some point Mavuika wants to shift to a more serious topic
"Now Thrain what's your true intention to bring us here?" Mavuika asks, while her eyes gaze at the Prince, who's quite caught off guard by this question.
Seems like Thrain would've surprised her that this outride has a specific reason. Yet it isn't much of a surprise that Mavuika knows, something is going on.
With a 'fine' under his breath, Thrain rises up from the grass and towards the black jacket. Where the certain reason is inside it.
On his way he mentions how Mavuika's 18 Birthday would be in 2 months.
From the curious face of Mavuika, who follows Thrain's moves, comes up a frown with the mention of her birthday.
It's no secret to them, that by the time she will turn 18, the arranged engagement between Mavuika and Thrain will be made official.
By any means, Mavuika doesn't complain about Thrain to be her future husband. It's quite fortunate for her.
Just that this engagement happens in a forced way.
The frown of the Princess now turns to a shock as she sees a necklace in the princes Hands.
A betrothed Necklace.
"Thrain, why are you giving me this now. As you just hinted at, this is something I should've seen in two months. Not earlier."
In a hasty movement, her hands try to close Thrain's hands with the Necklace on it.
Thrain just doesn't let this happen. Instead he calms the princess down and explains this specific betrothed Necklace. "This is not the one from my Kingdom. I made this one myself for you Mavuika."
With a closer look Mavuika now examines the necklace. A moon together with the sun next to each other.
This for sure isn't Khaenr'iahns necklace, she would've thought it would look like a white star. The Star that's known for Khaenr'iah as it is their symbol.
Mavuika wants to know the reason for him doing this.
Why Thrain made one himself for her.
"This necklace should show that I, Thrain am betrothed to you Mavuika and not I, a prince betrothed to a princess." Thrain explains as he lifts the necklace as a sign he would love to put it on Mavuika.
The way Mavuika moves away her blazing red hair from her neck is the answer Thrain needs to put the necklace on her.
Seeing this stunning necklace around her neck leaves Mavuika in awe. No other jewellery, could make her feel so pretty like she currently does.
The material and design also feel so unique. How much time Thrain must've spend to make this for her.
Once Thrain faces Mavuika again, she thanks him with a grateful tone as her fingers are on the moon part of the necklace. "Thrain this is beautiful, thank you so much."
It warms Thrains heart to see Mavuika with such a happy smile. Every time Mavuika looks so joyous Thrain is certain he would get blinded by it.
The way Mavuika looks with her blazing red hair flowing in the direction of the wind and her bright eyes, makes Thrain mesmerised.
Thrain lays his fingers beneath Mavuika chin and slowly moves her face slowly towards him.
Mavuika just let's this happen since she as well is mesmerised by these ocean blue eyes.
Even when their lips meet, they both just feel this moment and forget everything around them.
They don't kiss regularly but when they do it feels like coming home, two souls intertwined as it means to be.
This one singular kiss makes Thrain's heart beat so loud, he couldn't even hear his own thoughts. The only thing Thrain would think about how pretty Mavuika looks when she blushes. Another view he wants to engrave in his mind forever.
"I know it's getting late already but I would like to see the sunset with you." Thrain asks with a smile on his lip. "The Sunsets in Khaenr'iah will never be as beautiful as they are here in Natlan.
Of course Mavuika doesn't say no to him, especially since she knows how indeed their sunsets are beautiful.
While Mavuika watches the Sun setting, Capitano once so often towards her. In his opinion she looks cute with her head on his shoulder.
They wish this moment could last forever.
