Draco was stamping his foot impatiently until the door opened and Charlie walked in, wrapped in a light-looking jacket.
“I thought you'd be back later,” Draco's voice sounded concerned, despite his attempt to keep it quiet. “You've told me that there are dangerous situations and that it takes time to keep order.”
Charlie walked over to Draco and took a seat next to him on the couch.
“It was a bit of a false alarm,” he shrugged. “Besides, I have a boy at home and it would be rude to leave him alone.”
Draco gave her a half-smile and wrapped himself in the blankets, knowing that it wouldn't be long before a cold would catch him.
“I don't think that boy is that important compared to whatever happened out there.”
“Well…”
“Charlie.”
“Yeah, okay, look, what happened was one of the starters fell asleep in the middle of the watch” Charlie ran his hands over his face, looking tired. “Liosha didn't like that and wanted to wake him up to get his attention.”
Draco took a last sip of his tea, deep in thought.
“Liosha is...?”
“Uh, yes, the dragon. I already introduced you to Nina, she was the one who took care of Liosha since she was an egg, so she decided to name her. You should have seen her, she looked like she was about to drag the new boy out and wipe the floor with him.
Draco nodded in understanding and reached out a hand for Charlie to take. When their hands intertwined, Charlie couldn't help but startle.
“You're freezing, let me get you another blanket or…?”
“It's okay, I'm just not used to this weather.”
Charlie ignored Draco and got up, walking back out of the cabin. Draco grumbled to himself until Charlie came in carrying firewood.
“It's better the muggle way,” the red-haired man clarified to Draco's frown.
“If you say so,” he replied and clutched the blanket tighter, “Muggle lover.”
Charlie continued to work on lighting the fireplace, but at Draco's last words he stopped his task and turned to look at the blond.
“Whatever you say, sweetheart. I'll keep your secret,” he replied, raising an eyebrow at Draco's confused expression. “You know, about that time you spent hours talking to my father and Hermione about the wonders of the muggle thing that shows people moving and…”
“Television,” he corrected, “it's called a television.”
Charlie shrugged in amusement and went back to lighting the fireplace while Draco explained fun facts about television. Charlie interjected at times, expressing some doubts, causing a fascinated Draco to continue talking until the red-haired man finished what he was doing and warmth flooded the place.
“I never thought I could like anything to do with muggles,” Draco finished quietly and looked down for a brief moment at his left arm covered by the fabric of the jumper Molly had given him last Christmas. “Sometimes I still hate what an idiot I was.”
“You'll never be able to undo what happened, but I assure you, you've proven to be a better version of you,” Charlie moved closer to Draco and lowered his head slightly, letting the blond grab his jaw ready to kiss him. However, Charlie showed he had other plans as he took Draco's empty cup and pulled away. “More tea, Dragon?”
Draco snorted a little annoyed at the denied kiss and didn't respond, knowing that Charlie would bring him more of his favourite tea and kiss him after Draco refused to speak to him for a couple of minutes. With that last thought in mind, Draco took to gazing into the glow of the flames, feeling at home after a long time.
