Summary
Peter’s gotten used to Gotham by now. The thousand little sounds that build up to the cacophony of a city in controlled chaos. But it isn’t home, and it never will be, and the more time passes, the more that thought makes him twitch. He’s frustrated by it, annoyed that he feels like he’s forcing his way through a world that doesn’t belong to him. Worse, the Soul Stone is starting to become more and more of an issue. As if it senses something coming.
Tony's last words had been 'the threat always comes back.' Thanos won't be thwarted forever, only delayed. Eventually, he's going to hunt down the stray Soul Stone that Peter holds.
The Bats have a few opinions on that. The Avengers that have fallen into this other world have a few of their own. And there's the problem of Dr. Strange's letter...

“I’ve gone through worse,” Peter says.
It isn’t all doom and gloom. Sure, he’s depressed, and homesick, and reeling from the sheer amount of loss he’s experiencing, but--well, he’s done that before. Somehow, losing his parents when he was five years old is more devastating than the loss of his entire universe. Maybe that’s weird. Or maybe he's just numb to loss in all of its forms now, subconsciously waiting for all of the stable relationships in his life to fall apart.
…and that is a heavier thought than he’s currently prepared to deal with. He promptly shoves it aside to process later. Like in a couple of decades.
“Deal,” Tim says, brightening. He even grins at Peter, the same one he used to share with him during lunch at school. The sight of it is oddly painful, and Peter regrets pulling back so much that his friend hesitated to ask him for help, even if only in some roundabout way. “Thanks, Peter.”
To his own surprise, Peter smiles back. It’s small and feels strange, and he’s shocked that he did it at all.
And that is the heart of the issue. He’s going nowhere fast, in a world that doesn’t belong to him and will never fully feel like home. He’s a stranger here, even if he’s carved out a place for himself and done some good. It isn’t home. He wasn’t lying when he told Felicia he understands. A part of him hates himself for trapping them here, too.
It's the sort of thing an Avenger would do. He hasn't been one of those in a very long time. Maybe he should try to remember that part of himself again.
“Grab a few more. Let's start sorting these out into what we can use and what we can’t. Can you carry them back up when I finish?”
Conner grins and gives him a lazy salute.
Tony’s surprised to find he’s missed being a hero.
“Also you need to work on your social skills. You’ve only dealt with criminals and the others for weeks on end, it’s not good for you,” Bruce adds.
“Okay, you of all people do not get to criticize me for that.”
“It isn’t healthy,” Bruce insists, speaking over him, as if that’s not the most hypocritical thing he’s ever uttered.
“Bruce, everyone in this family is a psychological nightmare. I’m just adding spice to the mix.”

Last stopped on chap 8! Ironman, Flash (not Barry), Superboy, Red Robin and Oracle have temporarily subdued Thanos and they've probably got the Time stone after freeing Flash from his time prison. They're heading to DCU next where Peter is in the middle of a battle with Nat, Clint, Bat Fam and probably others... Thor, Wonderwoman to fight a mind-controlled Superman.
