Work Text:

It was midday somewhere in the United States back on earth at a deserted mall, due to an emergency made evident by the blaring sirens that rang on the streets all over the place. 2 knights prowled the premises with reckless abandon of the danger that came with the sound of the sirens that had been shut off in most areas as the danger approached the area.

The one leading the charge between the 2 without a care in the world, Amara Bello- a Lion goat amputee hybrid knight walking on cybernetic ungulate goat feet basically- doing what their new feet could allow them to mimic skipping through the place while humming. They scanned the various stores for something of interest to inspect while they were here.

Behind them was their partner Ava Clayton- the human knight, unsure about doing stuff like this but following along all the same knowing that the others know more than she did. She didn't say much, the guilt she felt for not doing her job and uncertainty of the whole situation, her nerves racking her mind was keeping her plenty busy than striking a conversation with her friend.

“So, where do you want to hit first?” Amara asked their friend over their shoulders, their cybernetic tail wagging behind them in awkward and stilted motion of their hips, making balancing much a bit of a challenge, but walking was easy enough for them.

“I-I don't know about this this time. I-I mean it's really bad this time” Ava meekly uttered. “I think we should head back to the fight to handle the threats currently razing the city.” She gestured to the sky above them.

A couple blocks away from them, where they were standing in the center of the mall high in the sky over most of the buildings were monsters.
Creatures of this that only crave destruction and human suffering that randomly appear every that knights like Amara and Ava battle.
At this time and place the monsters this time were aasmirs from mythology. Angel like creatures, stone like bodies and golden like vein crack markings and glowing eyes and golden wings razed and blasted the city in beams of ‘holy’ light turning anything it touches to aches.

The bellowing wind blew against the creatures hair over their armor and battle skirts as they soared through the air. The monsters would screech and occasionally blast their magic at the street and homes below in search of human life to snuff out.

Amara waves that aside with an exclaim and a mechanical wave of their wrist dismissing their friends words, “Don't worry about that stuff for now, besides we've talked about this earlier,” Amara Bello approach their friend and placed their hand on her shoulder with a robotic swing that almost knocked her off balance, “Yuuki, Dee and Dell are keeping them busy while we search for good stuff these people here have!” They spun round clasping their hands together unevenly as they stared at all the hurriedly shut and closed stores in the malls. “We only have little time to spend on the wonder's these humans make since we knights don't make much new stuff, we only get a small time to get to experience these stuff. Now come one or we'll miss our window!”

Amara strode back on their search for a store to pilfer of their goods in the limited time that these knights had on earth before they had to kill the monsters outside and head back to their realm.

Ava nodded to their words, gulping hard, she followed behind them too lost in her head to respond beside body language on what they wanted input on ‘I understand all that, you've already explained it to me, I just don't understand why you do this in the first place.’ she sighed, but reserved herself to at least keeping them from getting into serious trouble by hanging around them.

“Ava, if you aren't gonna decide then I might as well do it myself,” Amara suddenly announced, stopping in front of a hot topic shop with an arm awkwardly placed on hip that they ignored, “I guess I'll just have to pick one for us.”

Ava stopped in front of the store and looked up at the store and had a long face reaction to it, “Ugh, of all places, here??” She meekly gestured to it. “You know the hot topic isn't my scene.”

Before them was a classic hot topic store, the store was shut in a hurry so they didn't see much with the gate down since they didn't leave it open in their hurry, the promotional material outside was knocked down and had footprints as merch from the store all over the floor, much like all other stores around.

Amara chuckled, “Then I guess that you shouldn't have been pansy about making a decision about it then, huh.”

Ava grumbled in her own incompetence on making up her mind on the matter, folding her arms and turning her head away to hide her embarrassment.

Amara shifted their duffle bag out of the way mechanically, they lifted up their shirt with one half clutched cybernetic hand revealing their disembodied torso rimmed with magical lights that criss crossed along their split midriff. Their top half floated up, away a few inches from the rest of their body.
A well of destructive energy built up in the empty space between their midriff and blasted the magical energy at the shut drawn down gate of the hot topic store; blasting it against the opposite wall; knocking over some supplies and goods and destroying others in its wake. Destroying the ground beneath and crushing the surrounding walls.

In the distance a faintly growing sound of something moving fast was approaching the 2 knights location. The sound made them both half in their actions for a second and they both faced the direction that it was coming from and relaxed a bit more; Ava more than Amara who was a nervous reck and Amara had a more faith in life going their way than most would, especially for someone that was now a knight.

“It seems like Marie is done with the evacuation of the citizens of this area,” Ava meekly remarked upon hearing the very familiar sound of her approaching.

“Yup,” Amara announced with hands on hips, “just in time to help us loot them of their worldly possessions!” They stepped over the broken down entrance of the hot topic.

“Y-yeah, I suppos-” Ava snapped her head towards Bello with a shocked expression on her face, “hang on, just how much do you plan to take, we're just here to take new interesting stuff as payment from the people here. Not to rob them of all they are worth!”

Amara chuckled, “Calm down, I was just joking. Don't have to be so serious, jeez!” They rolled their sideways slit eyes at her words.

Within seconds Marie was at the mall where the rest of his teammates were and dashed through the place in search of them, he spotted the broken hot topic gate and dashed to them skidding to a halt.

“H-hi, Marie, how are you holding up?” Amara asked. “That was a lot of ground to cover again, I hope that you're doing well.”

Marie was huffing a bit with his hands on his hips, but was mostly fine.

His knight weapons that were where his feet would be dissipated leaving nothing behind and the knight injury mark was on the stomp of his feet, under it were magic like feet in place of feet that he no longer had.
Marie currently wore a knight uniform that was fitted to fit his speedy style and dissipated along with his weapons leaving his casual wear of a hoodie and shorts as he walked through the broken doorway.

“I'm doing fine, Ava, moving as fast I do doesn't tire me as much as it would, so it's kinda weird that you worry about me the way you do, but thanks,” he awkwardly scratched the back of his head with a blush.

Amara toss an empty box in the middle of the store, making a light thud and breaking up the conversation between the 2 and focusing on them, “Oy, if you 2 are done yammering over there we got shit to take,” they clapped their hand with robotic motions as their tail wagged excitedly and awkwardly behind them, “We don't have all day and are working on the clock here, save the chatter and move that butt of yours to add stuff to take back to our realm!” They gestured to the box.

Ava jolted, “Ahh, r-right, I'll look for st-stuff to take home,” Ava moved to perouse the items of the store, muttering to herself about the items of the store and being a wreck on what to get.

Marie shrugged at that, “Eh, sure thing,” he looked round at the store not knowing what to get either himself, “Damn, why the hell did it have to be a hot topic!”

“Because, I like it, it caught my eye and Ava didn't make a choice so I made an executive decision for all of us.” Amara boldly and proudly declared.

Marie looked over at with a raised eyebrow, Ava that hid away behind an isle to Avert his gaze. “Yeah, that makes sense,” he chuckled. “But executive? I think you mean impulsive.” He ran his fingers through his hip length straight hair that was tight in a ponytail at his nape and hips. His lock of hair that he pulled over his face and covered a bit of his scar fell back into place over his face.

Amara jabbed a finger at his general direction, “Silence, it was a direct and precise action taken in time of need for one!”

“Pff, whatever,” he waved the conversation aside, “just tell the others to come over here.”

Amara nodded and fished out their phone from their pocket and rung up Yuuki while Ava and Marie were busy searching through the items of the hot topic store.

Somewhere else in the town deep in the center in the heart of the chaos and destruction caused by the blight brought by the horse of aasmir monsters were the rest of the team designated to protect the place.

The area was darkened, despite the sunny day currently that was overcast, the shadows caused by the amount of aasmir that filled the area and the sound of their screeches rung over the sky and filled the area along with the beating of their wings turning the area to a chorus of the monsters.

Below them in the center they were attacking a lone car that was zooming through the streets at high speeds to just barely get away from the aasmir as they approached them.

Keeping the monsters at bay from destroying the care and just barely able to do that were the twin ferret knights- Dee and Dell Nye.

Dee and Dell had their whip swords out and in their hands, they were whipping it about in skillful movements of their arms and body, slicing up the aasmir by the tenths in quick succession; their handbook was floating around them in the off chance that they needed it for casting a spell or for communication with the others.
The sounds of their swords slashing through flesh and the air, tangling and magically untangling against each other, the occasional shuts of the gun attachments on the twins sword hilt the they'd fire at the aasmir that snuck past their flurry of blades, the aasmir dying screeches and bursts of their exploding bodies rung in the air and the twins ear as they crouched on the car.

“Damn, these guys are just coming out of the woodwork don't they, lil bro, I thought that we might end up doing all the work here again!” Dee yelled over the various notices around them to communicate with her brother– Dell.

Dell sighed at his sister, “You sound a little too happy about them being this much, dear sister!” They noted.

Dee chuckled, “Caught me!” She stuck her tongue out at him, “Can't hide anything from you, dealing with these monsters is fun, I just love fighting and killing ‘em!”

Dell sighed, “Of all things why did my twin have to be a sociopath?! We aren't supposed to kill them. We do it to save lives, not to get any sick joy from it!”

Dee did raspberries, “Everyones has their objective and drive,” Dee gestured to herself, placing a hand on her chest, but for a moment, “Mine is to kill these motherfuckers!” She laughed as she rained magic bullets on the aasmir and they all exploded. “you don’t have to be so pansy with me, brother, besides…”

“Things that are fun are fun, killing these guys is fun and there's nothing much to it!” they both said in sync.

“Besides if I didn't have to kill these guys I'd just fight every knight that I could.”

“Aren't we supposed to be heroes though? Are we really supposed to love killing monsters?” He commented.

“Eh, don't worry about that too much, big bro, I only hunger to kill these guys and nothing more!” she chuckled. “Besides, there's always knights to fight to fill the void.”

Dell was focusing on eliminating the enemies, but dreaded the times when they were not called to action as much and his sister would randomly attack him and anyone in her vicinity. He shuddered at such thoughts, because she doesn't understand the meaning of taking it easy.

Inside of the car driving the thing was the panda and oldest member of the group, Yuuki Hayashi- the panda knight, he didn't have to worry much about the aasmir monsters above him or any danger to the car because the twins were dealing with most of them, but occasionally he'd get a visitor in the front.

Like currently his hand was firmly grasping the neck of one aasmir as it screeched and struggled; biting his metal gloven hands.
While 2 other aasmir were on the hood of the car's engines about to fire holy magic at him and the car.

Beside him, on the passenger seat his phone was ringing for him to answer.

He sighed, crushing the aasmirs neck in his great claws coated in his magic metal and it dissipated into nothing.

He reached for the hole in his guy with his left free hand and it shone brighter with magic, he glared at the 2 aasmir in front of him getting ready to fire at him.
Yuuki pulled out his weapon- a ring blade.

He tossed it out of the car window and using his magic to remotely control it he used it to fire shotgun shells at the 2 aasmir and they dissipated into nothing, their magic dying with them as his ring blade zoomed back into his hand and dissipated into nothing.

He kept his eyes on the road, but was now mostly free from any important problems aside from the flying aasmir overhead, but they weren't an immediate threat.

He reached for the phone and answered the phone, placing it on his bare ear, “Hello, Amara- chan, how is your ‘hunt’ going over there? Find anything of interest for the rest of us.”

Amara spoke over the phone [Super, I found the thing we all can enjoy over here. come over to our location, I sent it to you, we are at a hot topic.]

Yuuki clicked his teeth on hearing that, ‘I should've known if it was those 2 on their own they might've ended up there…’

[Oy, what was that, Yuuki??] They exclaimed.

“What was what?” He veined ignorance.

[Don't play dumb with me, ya log, I fucking heard you click your teeth. Agh, whatever just get your butts over here, we don't have much time and we need your hands to gather stuff.]

“Right, we'll be there right away.” Yuuki answered.

He cut the call with Amara and checked the data that they sent him, before dropping his phone down with eyes still on the road and traveling through the hoard as fast as he could, he magically sent the information to the twins before his hand book magically retreated.

Back on top of the car the twins' attention was momentarily distracted by their knight's handbooks floating up to their eye level glowing brighter as magic flowed into it and the books opened up, flipping to a random page and magically projected information from Yuuki informing them on the current situation.

The twins took some time to air some more aasmir before opening the chat log and adding Yuuki to it.

Dell: Sounds about how I'd like things to go with those two.

Dee: One of us should've gone instead of Ava. I could've picked something really fun.

Yuuki: Yes, Ava, is a wonderful woman, but her and Amara’s personality do not meld the best on this type of situation.
Do twins have an idea on how to get there from here?

Dell and Dee were deep in thought, focusing on swinging their chain swords for a minute before they both had a lightbulb idea and waved a hand to their knights handbooks to inform Yuuki.

Dell & Dee: Yeah/ yes, leave it to me/ Dell. They'll/ I have an idea!

Dee swung her chain sword round her body and slashed a whole row of aasmir before unsummoning it back into her head knight mark and pulling up her handbook and facing it to the horde.

She breathed in deep as she pushed magic through it and it flipped to a random page and a magic sigil appeared firing off a wave of pyro winds at the aasmir burning them up in a gust of wind and their dying cries filled the air.

Dee flipped to the side of the car with her book dissipating into nothing, she kicked her way into the back of the car and huffed feeling her aching body relax.

“

What the fuck,

” Yuuki exclaimed jumping in his seat and getting ready for action, before spotting Dee and relaxing. “Oh, it you, Dee,

you idiot.

A little warning next time.” He gestured to her in the back.

Dee chuckled, “And where's the fun in something like that!” She lay back still laying on the seat at the back.

“Ugh, where's your brother and what plan do you lot have to deal with the horde behind us?” Yuuki asked.

Dee breathed out, legs crossed on the side of the car and hands at the back of her head, “Don't worry about that, he's taking care of it.”

Back on top of the car Dell had retracted his chain sword back into him and had his shirt lifted revealing his mortal wound with the magic of a knight glowing over what was his death injury, glowing a brilliant color with the symbol of his knighthood in the center. Beside them their handbook was firing magic cryo wind gusts as the aasmir; while they prepared a separate spell to cast.

Breathing cold breaths and concentrating on his mortal wound as he managed to gain enough magic power to activate it, the sounds of the roaring winds, wings and screeches of the aasmir didn't help much in his concentration.

Their split gut opened up with magic lining the insides and a gust of bone chilling icy fog bellowed out in mass and quickly worked to fill the car and more than that as it quickly enveloped the entire area and nearing to taking up an entire city block and even more than that.

Back in the car Yuuki was finding it hard to see where he was going and yelling curses in Japanese to Dell.

Dee chuckled to herself “Dude, calm down. Your reaction is priceless, man.”

He yelled over to her, “How can I deal with all of this mist!” He grumbled. “It was bad enough that I had to use my magic to shield the car when it began to freeze over, but now I can't see too!!”

“Dude, just use your handbook, I thought you'd pick up on that really quick.” Dee pointed at the handbook floating beside Yuuki.

“Oh… right,” he commanded it to get in his view and it flipped through itself before landing on a page that opened a spell that allowed him to view the road despite the fog that currently blocked his view. “Sorry, about that, but why didn't you tell me sooner.”

Dee giggled, “And where's the fun in doing something like that.”

Yuuki grumbled under his breath.

After a few minutes of driving in the direction that was the mall all 3 of the knights jumped out of the car and took flight using their magic to fly into the mall now that most of the aasmir had been taken care of by them they had nothing to worry about with the remaining stranglers as they came to the mall.

The air stung of the chill magic that was more quickly dissipating as Dell’s magic was deactivated and not leaving much evidence that he had used it here apart from the destruction caused by the magic.

Dell nearly fell out of the air as he was running really low on magic and feeling light headed from overuse of it to take care of the aasmir that were in the area.

Yuuki caught them in his big bear arms.

“Ooft, ugh…” he looked up to Yuuki, “Th-thanks, dude.”

Yuuki smiled at him softly, “It's okay, Dell-chan, you did good work today.”

“Yeah, D, you will get a tub of ice cream from me for giving me a break.” Dee chimed in.

“Thanks, D, that's oddly uncharacteristically kind of you.” he nodded and smiled at the kindness of their sister.

The 3 of them flew to the mall that they got info about from Amara and took a few minutes to look round at the center of the mall before they spotted the broken in hot topic and headed in that direction, knowing full well that the rest of their team was in there.

Looking round a thought came to Dee and she stopped following the other two, “Hey, you two head on in I need to do something out here first.”

Yuuki and Dell nodded and floated down to the hot topic, while Dee flew high into the air, breathing deeply as she felt excitement rise by the second and stared down at the mall and her handbook materialized before and flipped its pages.

“Now, let's see what spell I should use to fuck this place up!” She grinned, hovering her hand over the glowing book as the pages flipped.

Amara was sitting on the cashier's chair beside the registers table with a pleased look on their face as the other two were working to carry some stuff into the box that they planned to take back to Gallantia.

“Yo-you know this would go alot faster and smoother if you put your limbs back on and helped us.” Ava held two punk items in her hands not known to pick, but guessed that they were new enough and took them back to the box.

Amara gasped, “I can't believe you'd ask such a thing of me?! A cripple.” They dramatically stated.

Ava gasped in horror, “I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound insensitive like that!” She got on her knees with hands clasped, “Please, forgive me and don't report me to HR!!”

Marie sighed, placed a hand on Ava’s head and “Don’t worry, Ava, no one would be any of the sort with you,” she turned his attention back to Amara. “Dude, come on, that's not what she meant at all.”

Amara chuckled, “I know, I'm just teasing a bit, I may be a cripple, but I'll never let that stop me,” they declared with their stump of limbs.

“So you'll help us?” Ava asked with a raised eyebrow.

“Not a chance! I'm taking my break, besides my limbs are charging. Give me a few minutes to rest here.” They lay back on the chair with a soft sigh. “Now you two get back to work, we don't have all day to dally on this topic!!”

Marie and Ava grumbled in annoyance at them, but knowing there wasn't any use going any further begrudgingly went back to what they were doing.

Yuuki flew into the hot topics store with the busted down door scanning the store and spotted the rest of their team on the left side packing some items in the store in a cardboard box laid out in front of the register.

Amara was the first to notice them and gave a tiny roar in response, “Hey, guys over here!” They called, waving their stump of a hand to them.

Ava and Marie turned to their direction, momentarily pausing their looting to wave to Dell and Yuuki.

Yuuki waved back as he flew over to them, forgetting that he was carrying Dell and dropping him onto the ground.
Dell got to his feet and they all convened at Amara's side.

“Amara-chan, I must say I'm not surprised that you'd pick a place like this for our little excursion.” He gestured to the store that they were in.

“Should've expected it,” Amara giggled, their gaze falling to Dell, “Yo, D, where's your sister at?” they raised an eyebrow, “I doubt that she'd be doing actual work and taking care of the monsters outside by herself.”

“Well, she's-” he was interrupted mid sentence.

A series of explosions rocked the entire mall, the air filled with the laughter of Dee as she fired off her magic and set fire to most of the mall, the sprinkler system did not activate as the attack was magical and didn't have any effects a real fire would have.

“Doing that…” he threw their thumb behind him to the door of the hot topic.

“I see, as destructive and chaotic as ever,” Marie shook his head.

Ava exclaimed, “Is such destruction really necessary, though? We weren't supposed to cause more problems for the people!”

“Relax, Ava, you guys already busted down this place, my dear sister is just making sure the rest of the place looks like a monster attacked here also.” he gestured with his hands at Amara and Ava and to this place, ending off with a slight shrug with his shoulder.

Amara did a raspberry, “I guess I didn't think anyone will notice, alright, whatever.” They shrugged.

A few seconds later Dee flew into the hot topic, dropping down next to her sibling with a big grin on her face watching the rest of her team's reactions to the chaos she brought outside.

“That was some destruction you caused out there,” Marie commented with a raised eyebrow.

Yuuki chuckled, “You at least

“You destroyed private property!!” Ava shrieked, freaking out behind Marie who tried to comfort her.

“Thank you, I do take pride in my work to destroy what others have built.” Dee chuckled.

Amara yelled, “Oy, this is no time for you guys to meander with this chop-chop, we have a time limit before a boss arrives or someone gets curious and scopes out a task,” Amara scolded them with a harsh tone. “Now get to it.”

Dee pointed at Amara on the chair with a quizzical look on her face, “Then what are you doing on your fucking ass?!” She gestured for them to get up, “Someone get this bitches limbs back on.”

Amara dramatically sighed, “I can't, my limbs are still charging, you all must carry on without me.”

Yuuki, Dell and Dee looked to Marie and Ava who shrugged and had a look of defeat written all over their face on the matter of Amara, they went back to rifling through the store's items.

Dee, Dell and Yuuki groaned and grumbled in frustration and begrudgingly did the same as the other two.

While the others were busy getting to work with stuffing the box to take back to Gallantia, all except for Amara who had taken off their prosthetic limbs.
Ava noticed a poster with amazing water splash art and fire being key art features that had a goth group walking through the streets that drew her attention to it and looked at the bottom text that wrote disrespect authority like a boss; written in blood.

‘Huh, maybe the hot topic isn't so bad, I definitely might be considered ‘punk’ since I directed to Jules ' side when she became queen…’ Ava chuckled to herself about it for a minute thinking that she was a bit cool for doing that. ‘Hang on, what's that…?’ she leaned closer focusing on the words, ‘boss, wait a minute, has it…!!’

Ava willed her knights handbook to will into existence from the right side of her head, where her mortal wound was located.
Moving her book in front of her, floating inches from her hand it flipped through its pages, she breathed deeply concentrating on her magic and She poured a considerable amount of magic to activate the long range recon spell and landed on a page that drew a symbol of the magic she was planning to use and the magic took effect.

Miles away from her current location in a place that she designated with a huge well of magic that was gathering, her magic sigil appeared there and an eyeball formed from it where it relayed what Ava wanted to see in a surveillance video feed of the current situation and saw that the boss monsters had arrived.

Before her she saw a few aasmir monsters still blasting some place a few blocks away from their current location and in between them were a pair of cherubim monsters roaring and blasting an entire block into ashes with their holy magic.

Ava jumped and yelled in place, she grimaced as she collected herself with a quick breath, ‘Oh, crap, these guys are early for this raid, I gotta tell the others about this.’

She turned to show the first person that she could find but found it hard to get Yuuki attention as he had few things blocking his field of vision and got her to help with getting other stuff to show Amara if they should take it.

She looked to Marie to get his attention to help get the others to know about the current situation, but he was busy as well, riffling through the boxes items to decide on a few things that he was worried about, ignoring the words of both Amara and Ava.

She tried with the twins, but they were too busy arguing to pay her much attention, but dragged her into their little ear that they had going on in the middle of the store and had to slip away from.

She even tried getting Amara's attention, but they dismissed her without paying much attention to Ava's handbook and ushered her back to head back to the store and fetch more items and warned her that time was running out.

Ava stood in the center of the room, her back facing the broken door.
Behind her the mall had already stopped burning by Dee’s flames, but the marks of her handy work was clear and looked much like a monster attack had hit the mall as planned.
Ava breathed deeply to gather her courage to confront everyone at once as they went about the store doing their thing all around her and ignoring her, she managed to gather up her courage Ava yelled, “Hey, look!!” As they all!!”

She yelled and everyone paused what they were doing to pay attention to Ava with quizzical looks on their faces to what exactly their friend had to inform them on.

Not saying anything though, she just thrust her knights handbook up to her face, it floated inches away from her, glowing with magic that she was pouring into it and it flipped its pages.

“Oh, don't tell me!?” Amara groaned in frustration, they were the first to pick up on it, lowering their head and shutting their eyes.

The others glanced over to Amara wondering what they could be thinking it might be that Ava had to show them that they'd had such a wild reaction to it.

The handbook in front of Ava stopped on a page and sigil appeared as it shone brightly and a video feed appeared projecting the city a few blocks away where a few aasmir litter the sky with two cherubim were in the center of them and noticed that Ava's spy magic entity was close to them and fired at it, destroying it in brilliant light that flash banged the entire shop that everyone there used their hands to shield their eyes hands from; except Amara- the cripple shutting their eyes and turning their head in a hurry to hide from the blight light.
After that attack the magic turned off and the projection died.

Feeling that her spell got cut off, but not seeing what happened to her spell apart from the bright light, as she was showing the others, Ava shut her handbook and dematerialized it back into her mortal wound.

Marie hopped to her feet, “Oh, the bosses have come,” he sighed to himself. “Welp, looks like we better head down there and take care of them.” He placed both hands on his wide hips.

Dee and Dell both turned to him, “Not it!” They both chirped at him, that made him glare down at them in confusion.

Feeling his gaze on them Dell, clarified what their point of saying that was despite being Knights, “What, we've been fighting non stop a while ago for almost 2 hours, our mana is really low and it'd be a hassle.” He got one knee, over the lying Dee.

Dee jabbed a finger at Marie with a furrowed brow, “Yeah, we're dirt tired, let someone else like you go in our stead.”

“What?!” Marie exclaimed, crouching a bit, and balling his outstretched fists in shock at Dee and furrowing his brows at her, “No way, I carried people to the quarantine facility and fought off hoards of aasmir all over the place!”

“Too bad, should've been in the eye of the storm like me/us!” Dee and Dell both chirped, closing their eyes and shrugging.

Yuuki who was closest to Ava who fidgeting in place chimed into to their conversation, “Oy, none of you are going,” he announced to the shock of all three of them he turned to him, he sigh, “The obvious choice is the two knights who haven't lifted a finger yet…” he shift his position to face Ava and his gaze went to her and Amar, “Isn’t that right, you two.”

Ava nodded, “Uh, yeah, I guess we haven't done much for the mission since we got here, huh.” she nervously laughed and pulled out her grimoire from her mortal wound again and made it float beside her.

“Yes, I now I get to bust some heads and kill some mindless drones, hehehe! This is going to be awesome!!” Amara exclaimed.

Dee gestured to Amara with a smug expression in front of Dell, “See, D, they get the joy of destroying those motherfuckers and you wouldn't classify them as a nut job now would you, bro” she placed a hand on her hip.

Dell sighed softly, shaking his head, “I don't exactly think that anyone should be looking at Amara of all people as a role model!”

“You two!” Amara jabbed their stump hand at the twins, “Fetch me my battle limbs from my bag, mark 8! I'm gonna fuck shit up.”

“Alright, we're on it!” They both jumped to fetch Amara extra prosthetic limbs from the duffle bag that they brought, next to them.

While rifling through the bag, a thought came to Dee, she threw her head, pulling her hair out of her face, “Hey, why don't you use mark, 13, 14 or 20.”

Dell pulled away from the bag to chime in, “Yeah, rockets and artillery sounds like a way better limbs to have than regular old unspecial ones.”

Amara sighed, “Because it ain't that simple, the extra special ones aren't my arms, but better they are all basically the same, tools in place of my actual limbs. Besides I would be having extra weight on me for those “extra artillery”, which I don't want facing off against boss monsters cherubim of all things,” they jabbed their stump at them, “Now stop dilly dallying and fetch me my prosthetic limbs, damnit!”

The twins looked confused at their reasoning, pulling a face, but did and they were told. It was Amara's limbs after all. “Sure, thing bossy-mc-bossy-pants!” They both saluted and riffled through Amara's duffle bag.

They wanted to say more, but bit their tongue as the twins, as rude and mischievous as they were, needed Dee and Dell's help. Amara resigned to grumbling on their chair.

Ava a few feet away was watching this with her rapier out in hand, handbook floating beside her.
Marie stretched his magic legs over to where she was standing to stand next to her from the box of acquired stuff from the store to be taken back to Gallantia.

Feeling his presence next to her Ava jumped in shock, but calmed down quickly meeting Marie's usual lazy smile on his face.

“Jumpy one you are, Ava,” Marie raised a hand.

Ava breathed heavily, “Don't do that you bloke, you gave me quite a fright, what do you want anyway,” she jabbed the tip of her rapier at her face. “That face tells me you want something from me,” she pulled it back to her with a stern look on her face. “So spill it.”

Marie waved his hand, “I want you to go and fight the cherubim. Alone.”

Ava stared at her dumbfounded for a quick minute not fully processing what she just heard, her brain was working overtime to process properly what she just heard for a minute before she responded.

“What the fuck do you mean, by that you bloody psycho!” she tossed her rapier aside and grabbed him by the collar.

Marie raises his arms in defense, his eyes widened a bit in shock for a moment, shocked by her sudden action, but not that surprised by it as he expected as much. He had her smile on despite his predicament, “Calm down, Ava. I know how it sounds, but it makes sense, trust me.”

“Bullshit! What could you possibly say to make me think you ain't off your rocker or make me go along with it!” Ava spat.

“This again,” Marie sighed, “Look, we don't have time, Ava- chan,” Yuuki placed his panda paw on her hand. He was standing off to the side watching the rest prepare to head out and stepped in to help Marie with the confused Ava that couldn't grasp her head around what he was saying.

Ava gaaped, looking up at the big log and her grip loosened, “Yuuki, what do you mean by that?? I'm not getting it at all.”

“We don't have long before someone notices something is wrong, especially with a boss on the loose.” Marie explained.

Yuuki nodded to what Marie was saying, “She's right, we need someone on the ground. The cherubim are doing some serious damage and Amara there won't be ready for a while,” he threw his panda bear thumb to Amara who was just watching this whole thing play out with an amused look. “We need you down, the rest of us have used too much magic and would get in your way.”

“Oh, right, I understand, thanks and sorry.” Marie let go of Marie and took a few steps to the wall with her rapier and handbook following her.

Marie sighed, placing his hands on her neck to check if there was any damage done to it.

“You okay?” Yuuki asked.

“Hmm, yeah, I just wish she'd catch on to things quicker, she always does stuff like this in dire situations and our lives are potentially on the line.” Marie grumbled.

“Her mind may not be as quick as yours or others, but that doesn't mean she doesn't understand, it'll just take more time to get it. No need to get worked up on it.” Yuuki explained to her.

Marie rubbed the back of his neck nervously, “Yeah, yeah, broken record.”

Ava willed her handbook to float in front of her and it flipped through the pages as she pushed magic through it and her body as she was encased in magic that made her hair fly up and alter her clothes to that of her knight form. Her magic swirled around her as he clothes evaporated in brilliant light of her magic and replaced with her knight suit; with it came magical properties, among many was even greater magical properties even more than that of a regular knight and an aura shield that magically protected the user at all times.

The book stopped and a magic projector of the cherubim location was shown to her through the book, waving her hand at it and it quickly dissipated and the book flipped through the pages again till it landed on a separate page and a swirling portal appeared before her.

Gathering up her will and courage to fight the powerful monsters alone, Ava breathed hard with her rapier to her temple, cold sweat dropping down her face and focusing on herself only and stilling her courage for the hard battle to come before she jumped right through the portal and it swallowed itself leaving nothing as it disappeared along with Ava and her handbook.

Leaving the rest that watched her back alone to get things ready for Amara to go and help her and get the loot back to Gallantia.

A few blocks away from the mall where the current knight group designated to intercept this wave of monsters that had hit this USA’s town a horde of aasmir flew high in the air above the roofs of the buildings, blasting magic down on the ground below in hopes of finding and eliminating creation that has been bred here.

In the center of them flew the boss’ of this monster raid- 3 cherubim. The power of just one of them for this raid and area were almost 3 times the power of the collective aasmir here.

The cherubim, much like the aasmir were an angel type monster, fit with hola(s), angelic sings and a puffy leonine tail and an aura of monstrous cold fury common amongst all angel type monsters.

The cherubim had 3 head- the left feline/ big cat, the middle humanoid, the right equine or bovine, 6 arms, 3 tail, a halo for each head, gold and silver body, cloven/ humanoid/ digitigrade feline feet and pupiless eyes.

They all stopped upon raining their magic on the earth below them as a surge of potent magical energy drew their attention and they stared at the source of this power to pounce on it as they are programmed to do when hunting the humans of this world.

A portal opened above their heads from where they stopped and they all screeched a blood curdling cry before heading to it with no abandon, the other aasmir followed behind them.

Upon reaching it the monsters were all met with cold hard blood spikes shooting through the portal in a swarm like a rain coming down to wash the world of all the evil that plagued it and washing it anew.

The blood magic killed most of the aasmir in an instant, except for the cherubim; that fell back and we're crashing to the ground, screeching and crying in pain as the blood magic pierced their body.

From the portal a ray of light arched out of it before it closes in an instant leaving nothing behind.
The arch crashed into a cherub that had regained its bearing somehow and was sent further into the ground screaming and crying at the thing plugged into its body, gripping it with its bottom hands.

Flying downwards at high speed, the wind blowing her hair backwards and blocking the sound from her surroundings to reach her, with her rapier in the cherub was Ava Clayton.

Ava grimaced at the monster below her crying in pain, “Ahh, just gotta kill at least this one, just gotta make it- perish!”

Ava reached for her hilt, flying faster down into the cherub ignoring the deafening cries and clasped the hilt end began pulling the trigger firing magic into the cherubim body and it thrashed wildly from the attack on it body before crashing into the ground with a resounding thum that shook the earth and buildings around them.

Leaving the sword still in the cherub that was stuck into the ground under it, the sword has already punched a hole into the creature, but it is yet to be taken down so easily.

“Bloody hell… wish they weren't so resilient!” Ava hugged.

She stretched her hand out, glaring down at the cherub that writhed on the floor in pain screaming and crying on the floor. She sighed softly, her handbook materialized beside her before opening and flipping through pages as she poured magic into it.

While finding a spell to deal with the cherub below unable to act and attack her tight now, Ava heard a screeching cry from her side and saw a cherub with a leopard, humanoid and bison triple heads bull rush through a building and made a b line for her.
Ava readied herself to intercept this new opponent that came at her with arm outstretched and sharp teeth bared.

Ava flipped over the cherub that came barreling its way towards her and swung her legs at its back as she did saw, her book lands on a page and an of blood erupted from the magic on her legs that blasted from it nailing it in the back and sending it crashing feets away from her.

Ava stayed levitated in mid air as the cherub that she attacked on her arrival here had finally got up and lunged at her, which she dispatched easily with a triple shot of small blood magic that sent it flying and crying.

Ava was preparing another spell when she felt a well of magic gathered above of her and before she could even react fast enough, she only had enough time to look up at a cherub fire off sound magic at her that hit her before she could react in time for it and slammed her the ground binding her there with its magic.
Ava tried getting up with force, but wasn't strong enough to do much than to get up to a crouch, her knight suit helping her out to not get crushed from the waves of sound hitting her.

The cherub that she knocked away a moment ago with cheetah, humanoid and cow heads got to its feet and was about to fire holy magic at her.
Thinking fast she sent her rapier that was still logged into the ground with a wave of her hand to it and flung her hand to the cherub. Sending it into its side, piercing it as it cried and and accidentally firing it anyway, missing Ava, but hitting the buildings behind her and the 3rd cherub above her knocked it off course.

Ava rolled out of the way of the cherub, rematerializing her rapier in her hands and jabbing it into the air and sending cold blood spikes to the 3rd cherub, it teleported out of the way and landed behind Ava.

Her eyes widened in fear and horror as it saw sigils snake around its body and all 3 heads grinned with their blank eyes staring into her soul as it activated its buff magic enhancing its strength even further through it punched Ava in the back with all fists on its left side crashing into her back and making her cry out in pain from the impact.

As she flew back 3 feet into the from the spot that she was hit and only had a minute to see the 2nd cherub fire a ray of holy magic crashing into her and sent her through the semi destroyed building behind her and through a second one.

Ava landed into the ground with a crumbling crash and skidded into the building, dig up part of the earth below and making a pillow from the debris that she picked up with her head and shoulders getting here as the building behind crumbled down and the one that she found herself in was soon following suit with it.

Ava took a few seconds to get to her feet, rubbing her head thanking whoever would listen that her knight armour was strong enough to withstand that level of beating.

Her attention was drawn by the cherubim though that came after her, turning to face them she came face to face with 5 cherubim, half of which looked exactly like the second and third cherubim outside.

Not thinking much on them, she aimed her finger that lit ablaze with a magic spell. She fired a simple magic shots and reduced them to magic dust with a few quick shots to the chest, getting 2 at first and had to dodge the others attacks using a few grips and grapples to get them off her back and fired at them ending their short faux lives.

Moving over to the broken building that she was currently in that was crumbling a little bit was mostly stable, Ava sighed watching through the broken buildings and dust cloud she was certain that the cherubim were getting ready to attack again.

She materialized her rapier and handbook in her hands and made a pair of glasses with magic, that her handbook spat out in her hands, she placed them in her and hands and watched the cherubim with them that scanned for their energy and made out that all three were together and ready to do something against her.

“Humph, not if I can stop those cunts.” Ava tossed the magic glasses aside and it dematerialized.

She plucked her rapier from the air and held it to her, pouring magic into it as her handbook began to flip through itself and landed on a page as she poured magic through both of them. She held her rapier to herself, with her hilt to her gut and pouring magic till the spell was created.

Blood gatling gun spell activated.

A spell sigil appeared at the tip of the rapier and fired hundreds per second of blood magic bullets at the cherubim raining magic hell onto them that tore through them and causing them to cry out in pain and anguish from the onslaught and broken down their defenses.

Ava bursted through the broken buildings firing magic blood spheres at the third and second cherubim, sending them flying as they cried out in pain and waves her rapier at the first cherub before it could react to her; binding it in sworn of blood that wrapped around its body, hardening in place.
Being that the one to sustain the most damage without room for recovery Ava took to finishing it off with a special attack that he had for it.

Leaping into the air Ava's handbook flipped through itself and shone alight with magic that she poured into it as placed her hand on the book and a magic circle under it and waves her hands in an arc over to the cherub that bellowed in frustration.

Mega bloodshot spell activated.

A bulb of blood with heightened magic energy followed her hands in an arc of high magic energy, erupting from her hands and blasting the cherub and the ground beneath it in the magic spell encasing it in that expanded and exploded in a violent fury that shook the ground.

Ava landed on one knee behind it as the magic spell hit its mark and went off, getting to her feet she turned the cherub gone and that there was a smoke crater where it used to be. Smiling in satisfaction of her handiwork that was short lived as the other cherubim came back.

The second sent down a volley feathers as the other one shot her waves of sound magic her way with cries of anger and blood lust as they tore through the air.

Ava's eyes widened in horror as she wasn't ready for them to return so quickly and was in no shape to take on 2 more boss monsters now of all time.

She managed to dodge the feathers with some quick foot work as they whistle through the air and plant into the ground, stepping backwards to get away from the attacks and out some distance between her and the cherubim.
Ava managed to dodge the first volley of magic sound wave, it crashed into the side of her sending a wave of sound her way, but was pretty harmless. She however was not able to dodge the second one from the third cherubim third head, firing its magic directly at her as she landed.

Acting fast Ava crossed her hands over her body and was sent rocking backwards a few feet two feet off of the ground with a grunt of pain and landed on her back, bouncing off it hitting the ground hard with another agonizing grunt before sliding on the ground.

Ava managed to get to her knees quick with her mind running wild about her current situation, ‘Damn, these bastards are kicking my bloody ass! I don't think I can handle two more of them single handedly. I'm nowhere that strong. Shit like that is meant for big shots, not someone like me!!’ Ava watched the cherubim in horror as they came right for her with another set of spells ready to fire at her and snuff her life out. “Damn it, Amara, where the hell are you??!” She bellowed out in frustration on her knees with her head to the sky and arms out to her side.

Suddenly almost as if on cue the universe answers Ava's woes and the cherubim got distracted by something with huge magical energy signatures off to the side. Before they could do anything about where or that new energy was the second cherub was hit with a javelin in its side, sending it flying off to the side screaming in pain and anguish and the third got hit by a ball of destruction magic sending it flying off as well.

Ava opened her eyes to the carnage, she looked over to Amara who was flying over to Ava with a snug look on their face before dropping down in front of her.
They had on their new limbs on their body, their knight suit was on. Their limbs looked similar to an amputated or crippled person's own with no extra features added to for any reason, but clearly looking more resilient enough to fight unlike the casual prosthetic that they wear when not in combat.

“Nwedo, girl, you called for a beautiful and charming hero to save your ass.” Amara stretched out her hand to Ava. Their fanged goat teeth were on full display for her.

Ava looked at her with an insulated, confused and frustrated face, she looked down at her prosthetic lion hands and slapped them out of the way with disgust and grumbled some curses at them as she got herself off the ground.

“Took your sweet damn time to get here,” Ava got to her feet, stumbling on her footing and doubled over from the pain and exhaustion.

Amara caught her in their outstretched arms, with robotic limbs that awkwardly held her in place, “You okay, Ava? Wouldn't want such a pretty flower like you to get hurt, do we?”

Ava blushing a bit pushed away from them back onto her feet wobbling back and forth on the balls of her feet in place.

“Ugh, y-yea-eah, I'm ngh, fine. Just focus on helping me with these damn monster bosses.” She managed to huff out.

“Already on it, oga.” Amara chuckled softly with their hands on their hips.

The second cherub teleported behind Amara and was about to strike them in the back with all six of their hands slamming downwards at them, crashing into their back and sending them crashing into the ground below them with a loud boom and crash, breaking the ground beneath them with their face.

The cherub threw its head up and screeched a powerful scream that Ava didn't even pay any attention to now that it was in front of her and distracted it had a chance to attack.

She charged up her fist with her blood magic amplifying her physical abilities even further with the bright red color enveloping her hand and arms, pulling it back and racked against the cherubim guy sending it rocketing backwards further into the air crying in pain.

Ava dropped to a crouch huffing as sweat dropped to the ground, she has spent a lot of magic to keep all three cherubim and kill one boss monsters and was starting to feel the effects of the magic running dangerously low.

Amara pulled their head from the ground, shaking the dirt and debris from their hair. “Hey, you good?!” they asked her.

Ava took a few seconds to collect herself and sucked up air. She looked up at Amara in the kind eyes of her knight partner and nodded, “Yeah, yeah, I just need a minute to collect myself.”

Amara got to their robotic prosthetic feet, “Good, but we don't have that kind of time or luxury,” they pointed to the third cherub charging at them. “You take care of that and keep it busy, I'll handle that guy,” they pointed at the second cherub in the air before them. “When I finish it off I'll help take down your guy, don't die on me, you hear.” Amara crouched to one knee with their javelin rematerializing beside them and got ready to launch.

“Huh?? Wa-wait a sec-” Ava began but was cut off shortly.

Amara grabbed their javelin in hand and leaped into the air knocking into the cherub in the air, leaving Ava to fend off the cherub threading its way to her that she sighed and grumbled but got ready to do battle with it again.

Amara thrust their fist at the cherub knocking it backwards with the weight of the fist hitting it and struck it in the gut sending it flying and striking it into a room with their javelin impaling into the roof below them and came down onto the hilt.

The cherub managed to scramble out of it and fire a dual magic of feathers and holy magic at Amara that exploded on contact and piece them. The creature cackled at the direct hit from the attack, but didn't expect them to push through it and flying it in the face sending it flying at it robotically roundhouse kick it in the back sending it flying.

“Was pretty proud of that attack weren't you,” they dusted off the dirt and feathers as they dissipated into nothing. “But unlike regular earthlings,” they jabbed a thumb at their chest, “we knights are much more sturdier and don't die from such a simple attack!”

Frustrated, the cherub roared at them and fired vollies of holly at them that peppered the air between them and made it hard to have physical contact.

Amara danced on his feet in place, swinging his arms from side to side as he moved dodging the ball of holly magic heading towards him as he moved backwards, while uncoordinated and a bit stiff the prosthetic limbs were still able to somehow simulate what they were going for moved, while not in tandem and got nailed in the shoulder and chest a few times they still dodged most of the attacks.

The roof that they moved past to dodge the holy magic attacks by the cherub was all destroyed and crumbling and they had taken considerable damage due to it, they wondered why the attacks weren't as bad as they ought to be when considering what they were up against it was just above an average monster, but not in the leagues of a boss monster.

They looked up at the cherub to answer their own question and saw it attempting to heal itself from the injuries sustained the battles its been in thus far, desperate to not grow weaker.

“Ha, to think you actually used your brains here. Well it is a boss monster, but you're still a monster and you must die to a knight!” Amara grinned, firing off balls of destructive energy at it.

It stopped what it was previously doing to screech at them and fire off lightened up feather magic at Amara.

They flew out of its way as the feather struck the roof below and exploded upon impact, big enough to nearly knock them out of the air. Now that is the power level that they'd expect from a boss monster.

The cherub was about to fire another magic at Amara, it had charged up a powerful spell and was about to fire it at them, but managed to get intercepted by Amara firing magic spheres at them via their handbook that hovered near, it roared at it and fired magic at it while Amara charged at it sending a destruction wave at as it pointless fired its magic at the handbook.

It got knocked back and before it could get its bearing right while flying backwards it was hit yet again with another barrage of magic spheres.
The cherub yelled in frustration and it drew its elbows into itself invasion itself in an angelic aura, it was a variant bright color in the vague shape of an angel with wings and a halo. The cherub glared at Amara as they got ready to launch their attack.

They had on a brave but worried, “Ah, crap, not this shit! It probably thinks of a hot shot with that spell too.”

As if to answer them the cherubim heads nodded violently and they all roared as they fired the spell at them, raining bullets of aura in their direction.

Amara got into position to fire off their own powerful spell to counter it and hopefully get it as well, their handbook flipped behind them quickly and landing on a page and firing off their spell at it.

Destruction waves beam. Spell activated and shot a beam of condescended destruction wave from the magic sigil on their outstretched hand at the cherub.
The magic spell was informally not strong enough to push through the barrage of aura fired at it and was able to destroy a few that came its way, but the spell was soon overpowered and destroyed.

Amara gasped as they stumbled in place in mid air, not even having a second to collect themselves before they were hit with a barrage of the aura bullets and sent flying down with a cry of pain from the impact of the attack.

They managed to get their bearing after a few seconds of falling, grunting and hold their body to check if anything got passed the armour and luckily nothing did, but they far less armour than when they started with, they made the armour to materialize, using up their magic energy to do so.

“Ugh, I'm starting to see why dealing you ekwensu’s is a team effort, I'm getting my ass kicked over here!” They did a bit of a double take as their prosthetic clenched it's fists. They glared up at them, “I guess I better set thin- wait, what the fuck?!”

Above them the cherubim heads were waving around violently and screaming, two of their heads lined with Amara's with its disturbing blank face before the left head fired golden fire and the right head shot out a golden body water at them, moving at a high speed.

Amara moving quickly, got out of the way of the attack that came their way, grimacing at the sudden attack that nearly hit them, almost not making it, with their prosthetic tail not making it easy to get balance and letting their magic assist them in that front.

“Whoa, that almost nailed me! Nice try, fucker!” They pointed their fingers at it.

Their book floated before them and fired off bolt's of destruction magic that crashed at it, knocking it to the side with cries.

Amara tucked in their knees before dashing towards the cherub to land a blow at it, cocking back their fist to nail.
Not long Amara began to cock their eye brow a bit at the sound as it was making, realizing all too late that the middle head was setting up an electricity spell and fired it at them that they had had no chance of dodging, crossed their arms over themselves and braced for impact.

Everything went dark for a minute as the dazzling spark of light damaged through armor and broke a chunk of their left shoulder and chest from the arc of golden light stabbed through them, devastating pain coursed through their body making them cry out for a second before falling to the earth.

The cherub seeing its chance dove at them at high speed to try to attack them, their arms out and all three head screeching and mouth agape.

Amara was drawn awake by their loudening thunder banging voice getting louder and more ear raping. They only got awoken by it and had no time to get out of the way or block the cherub.

All six of its arms gripped Amara's arms, pinning them to their side and attempted to piercing through the knights armour whole all three heads went to check the neck and head of Amara.

“Whoa, there!!” Amara's head disembodied from the rest of their body, floating inches from their body and out of reach to the snapping mouths, “No biting the merchandise, ekwensu!” They stuck their long barbed tongue out at the cherub.

All two heads, hissing and growling went for Amara's floating head, only the middle head with all of the brains going for the body.

Amara's second knight weapon popped out of the stump of a neck and smacking it dead in the face, the chain mace head shot past the cherubim middle head and rounded around to do a drive by hit the other two from the side.
With the cherub blindsided with that attack Amara thinking fast on their feet sent a destructive magic wave from their chest and sent it flying into the air and away from them in a wave of magical energy that knocked it back, they screamed with push knocking the cherub back.

The cherub flew a few feet into the air wildly and out of control, spinning in all directions till it gained its bearing mid air and dove down at Amara again.

“That's right, come at me, you fucker, I have something good planned for you,” they summoned their land in one hand and place the hilt on top their palm as they began casting magic on it and had their handbook distract the cherub with blasts of destructive magic. “But I'm gonna need you to wait just a second, kay.” They winked at it.

The cherub roared at them and after 30 seconds of this nonstop attack it dove past the attacks with an aura around it to protect it from attacks.

Amara's handbook fired a big attack covering it in a sizable dust cloud as Amara chucked the lance at the cherub with such great force through magic that it caused the air around them to ripple and buildings to shake.

The lance pierced through the right side of the cherub, breaking through through the aura shield with some effort, using jet boosters from the bottom to blast off and as the last blasted past the cherub it activated its auto trap at the bottom, setting off a destructive explosive magic.

A huge explosion covered the cherubim area and as the dust began to settle and the roaring cherub burst through it, roaring and bellowing in anguish and frustration it looked up at Amara.

Amara sighed down at it, “Damnit, why.did you die to that, whatever I got something super spell planned for you now, come on.” It taunted it with a hand gesture.

The cherub went ballistic charging every which way and zoomed up with aura again covering its body as it slowly regenerated its form and was charging multiple spells to hit them with.

Amara stretched out their rigid prosthetic arms at the monster and activated their spell.

High tide magic: Entropy dome.

Their book flipped in front of the cherub and encased it in a dome of destruction magic that tore its body apart from the inside out and blew it to nothing. Leaving only magic dust that was swept away.

Amara slouched over, their hand over their chest breathing headey as they hair fell over their face, “Damn, that guy took so much out of me,” their eyes fell to a few buildings and their mind wondered for a bit looking upon the destroyed buildings everywhere till they remembered that their other teammate was dealing with one of these guys. “Oh, shit, I almost forgot about Ava!!”

They took off in a hurry to the direction that they could feel her and the cherubim energy still fighting each other.

Ava was fighting for her life, her magic was vastly depleted and had no way to recover that, especially enough to beat a boss monster and most of her knight armour had been broken and resorted to magically boosted short ranged attacks because she was running out of options. Things were not looking good for her.

She was on one knee glaring at the last after blocking its magic spell, grappling it and flinging it with a kick, but there was just so far she can go with just this.

Out of nowhere a stream of light knocking the cherub in the gut and sent it flying into the air.
Looking behind her she saw Amara touching down next to her looking worse for wear.

“Hey, girl…h-how you holding up?” They asked.

“Badly, I-i don't think I could go much more.” She huffed hard, her breath was stressed.

Amara chuckled and grunted, “You up for an ultimate combo move?”

Ava glared at them like they just said something foul and had the look of killing them for such transgressions.

“Hehe, I'll take that as a no then.” Amara had their handbook in front of them flipping through its pages.

Ava placed a hand down on the dirt, scratching it in their clenching hand, “Dude, I think we need to call for help. Our situation is grim.”

Amara's heart shook, they knew no one here had the power to help take down as everyone was running on empty, even with the time the rest of the team had gotten they were nowhere near able to do it and barely able to on full, unless they sacrificed all of their magical energy to take them down.

“You know as much of a pain it is that we are so low ranked because we refuse to go up and have things complicate our way of “life” I am really glad that we go to such low level raids.” Amara took a few steps forward, “Well, see you on the other side, Ava.”

Ava wasn't quite understanding what Amara was attempting to do or say, but had no time to dwell on it as the cherub came back with a blinding rage and blood curdling screams at them.

Amara screamed as well, their magic light enveloping their body and coating them in a blinding beacon like light that transcended passes the limits of a normal night and to an awakened one.

Ava covered her eyes from the blinding light and roaring winds as the pressure of Amara's transformation was knocking waves at her and debris flew in every direction.

“What…? Amara, what the fuc- wait, that's going too far, let's retreat for now!! This is no reason to throw your life away for this!!” Ava wailed on the top of her lungs.

It all reached deaf ears as the magical light that encased Amara broke away leaving an awakened knight form, glowing hair, deathly blank glowing eye and an improved more badass knight suit.
Without moving they stared down the charging cherub and activated their ultimate magic.

Big bang explosive blast.

And multiple bulbous destructive energy gathering at a point a few inches from Amara's temple and they screamed at the top of their lungs as they fired the unstable and explosive attack that covered the space before them in a blinding cone beam of pure raw and devastating destruction magic turning everything in its wake into dust and ash.

When the attack was done the cherub was no more and the buildings and feet into the ground as well were nothing more than a memory.

Ava has a dumb profound smile on her face and gave a short chuckling laugh at the sight of the empty quiet space that they now occupy.

“Yo-you did it, Amara, you actually beat two boss monsters all on your own. I can't-” he words were cut short upon looking at Amara again.

They had destranformes to their normal form with their limbs going slack and they stood up straight, but the head gone slump, but part of their body began to slowly dematerialized as their magical energy was depleted, their magical life force was run dry and their time on this or any mortal world had come to an end.

“Amara!! Amara!!! No, no! No!!” She scrambled to them with some struggle. She still couldn't move properly with her low magic and banged up body.

Ava destranformed as she reached her dying friend's body, she tried shaking them to get Amara to wake up to no avail and looked at her shaking hand, but knowing she had nowhere near enough magical energy to stabilize them and would most likely die in the process. She was freaking out and not having any way to calm down, her mind was filled with dread and distracted with the thought of losing someone close made her rational thought clogged and messy.

“No, no, no, no!! This can't be happening, please no!” She dropped to her knees sobbing loudly holding onto Amara's clothes that will soon be a husk if nothing is done.

A few feet away a portal opened up and Marie walked in with his hands in his pockets as he whistled and looked round as he spun. He spotted Amara and Ava a ways away.

“Hey, guys,” he waves to them.

Ava gasped, turning to him, choking on her subs, “Marie, quick come here!”

Marie transformed and used his magic to make quick work of the distance and dropped to his knees, “Whoa, what happened here?” His hand was on Amara feeding them her magic reserve.

Ava was sobbing, “We were here to beat the cherubim like agreed upon, b-but th-there was one more an-and A-” Ava choked on her sobs.

Marie took a hand to her and placed a hand on her head and drew it to his body, “Hey, it's fine. I'm here, I'll make them all better.”

Ava cried some more into him before pushing away from him and sniffling, “I-I thank you, I didn't know how we would've survived.”

“You could've called any of us, you know?” Marie offered.

Ava lands back on the cold hard ground on her ass and cursing at herself, “I am such an idiot, why didn't I do that!” She palmed her head.

“Hey, hey, you were in shock, it's fine, people don't exactly think straight in that sort of situation.” Marie attempted to comfort her.

Ava sighed, resting her hands on her drawn in knees, “I honestly don't even know how I became a knight. I feel I have regressed as a hero. I'm such a fucking failure.”

“Hey, now, you guys took on three boss monsters by yourselves and mostly saved this town,” he gestured to the crumbling remains all around them. “ That's impressive, dude!” He gestured with his hands.

Ava leaned back with her hands to the back of her on the ground for support with a weak smile on her face, “I guess.”

Marie grunted as he got up and took his hand off of Amara and stopped transferring magic to them, “Okay, help me get their limbs off.” They got out their phone to call someone.

Ava got to work placing Amara down and disassembling their limbs and a few minutes later Yuuki came in to take their limbs in his big arms and all four of them left in Yuuki’s portal back to Gallantia with their mission a success.
