Sylus' guide to dating as a mafia leader

Summary:

Several of them pursed their lips in restraint, their eyes radiated hatred, but Sylus was already used to people looking down on him, to find another way to intimidate him, Sylus did not pave his way as the leader of his organization by people liking him.
"What a nuisance," he blurted out in a growl as several came at him, "you’re interfering."
"Then surrender," blurted another.
"I can't do that, you know" Sylus arranged his hair as best he could, "I have a date."

Work Text:

Sylus watched the blue sky with one eye, watching the clouds pass by while trying to wipe the blood from the other.

Ah, what a nice day to see his boyfriend, but like any busy man, he had to take care of work matters first.

And by work, he meant the bunch of men who had him surrounded, pointing their guns at him.

He had already gotten rid of most of them, but they persisted. The truth is that he could have finished with them in less time, he just didn't want to dirty the suit he had chosen too carefully to dazzle his boyfriend.

At this point, he was irritated, as he had been having problems with his Evol for days, which was annoying, but became an inconvenience due to the situation.

He was glad he had chosen a black suit with wine red, as it disguised the blood that had been splattered on him by some of those idiots when they smashed their faces into his fist.

There were few things Sylus tolerated, and of course, keeping his boyfriend waiting was way out of that zone. Oh, and his disheveling his hair. At the moment, his previously meticulously gelled hair was plastered to his forehead in a slight combination of sweat and blood.

Disgusting.

The area where Sylus lived was quite secluded from the city, besides being dangerous, so he summoned his boyfriend a little later than usual to have more time, at first he thought it was not necessary, but seeing the situation he was in, he was glad to have been forewarned.

One of the men finally deigned to make a move, Sylus estimated about ten more men, and probably another dozen lurking somewhere in the woods.

About twenty minutes ago, as he was leaving the N901 Zone, several cars crossed in front of him cutting him off, which made him slip on his bike and almost fall, at first he didn't even bother to take off his helmet, but after a damn guy ruined his visor, he had to throw it away, and from that moment until now he still has no idea why they are attacking him, but judging by the shields embroidered on their uniforms, he already had an idea.

In the end, all the men rushed forward at the same time, trying to confuse him, and he held them all off with his Evol, with some effort.

Honestly, he was disgusted with the situation, he didn't know why these men were attacking, but he could see in their eyes that they didn't want to be there, they were nothing more than pawns of people who didn't deign to dirty their own hands, more out of disgust than anything else.

They were all idiots.

However, it was either them or him, and at this point, he could not afford to think about a third option.

He was already reaching his limit, his fingers were tingling and his head was beginning to spin, his wrists too tight and his clothes too heavy.

In a matter of seconds, in a small oversight, one of them managed to graze his arm with a bullet, which brought a whimper from him. Too late he realized that his wound was not healing.

"Why don't you just die already, you bastard?" Spat one of them at him with his dying breath.

At that moment, above the pain, in his mind came the image of green eyes, normally expressionless, giving him a warm look. Hands almost the size of his own, tenderly resting on his cheek, and a tiny laugh, that only he was able to appreciate in his most intimate moments.

And as if he had regained all his strength, he was able to control himself again, strangling those men into unconsciousness, hoping that would give him time to leave.

As he headed towards his motorcycle, which had been left abandoned near one of those guys' cars, he noticed a strange beeping sound coming from there and soon discovered where it was coming from when, as he got closer, his motorcycle exploded.

His damn bike exploded into a thousand pieces.

Those assholes.

Sylus was so close that the explosion hit him, knocking him back a few meters and slamming his body against one of the trees, but the worst part was when he looked down and found his suit completely ruined.

Now he was not at all presentable for a date.

He decided it was best to go back and find something appropriate to wear. He didn't want to give his boyfriend a heart attack, since he, in his nature as a doctor, always worried when he saw him with a wound, no matter how small.

Not to mention that, for some strange reason, the wound on his arm was still not closing.

He took one of the abandoned cars, knowing that it most likely had a tracker, and started driving.

He detoured along a route that would be difficult for someone unfamiliar with the dense forest surrounding his property to follow and eventually parked to the side to continue walking, as he was not amused by the possibility of his home - and his employees - being attacked while he was away.

He was thinking about all the delicious meals he was going to share with his boyfriend, maybe order an exotic dessert this time, maybe go for a walk and see the lights that were starting to get dusted off with the arrival of Christmas and a bunch of other activities that they definitely wouldn't do in one night when he heard a rustling behind him.

He heard stealthy footsteps surrounding him, "fuck" he thought, "they were too fast".

Once again, he found himself surrounded. He had noticed the same thing the first time, but the weapons they carried were peculiar, and he would have been more curious had not a score of people been pointing them at his head.

"Onychinus leader, surrender to make this easier" Said one of them with a visibly distressed face.

"Easy for who, your inept boss?" replied Sylus with a humorless little laugh, "how incompetent if he thinks he can stop me with so few men."

"I can't do that, you know" Sylus arranged her hair as best she could, "I have a date."

Bullets flew again, making it difficult for him to see and hear, but he could handle it. He began to use his Evol on those farther away while providing a few hits to those closer, quickly immobilizing most of them, only one was left standing, a boy who couldn't have been more than fifteen years old, with his muscles still developing, whose arms had a visible problem holding a gun bigger than him, and pointed at him with terror in his eyes and a silent plea.

"Go back to school, kid, hold a pencil instead of that thing" He pointed at the young man's gun, then moved forward intending to pin him down and leave, however, one of those on the ground, who had been trying to aim at him for a few minutes, formulated a single sentence.

"Stay away from my son," he blurted out, then fired a bullet directly into Sylus' heart. He was only able to dodge it by inches, embedding it in his shoulder. Previously, even if they stuck the gun into his skin and shot him in the heart, it wouldn't even tickle him but seeing the situation - and the burning in his arm as a reminder - he didn't want to risk it.

Because someone was waiting for him.

"A father protecting his son, huh?" Sylus slurred the words, tasting the bitter sensation on the tip of his tongue, "You should have protected him from going into this shitty business," and so, he pummeled the man until he fell unconscious, looked at the boy one last time, knowing he wasn't going to fire the gun, and walked away.

"Dad..." thought Sylus as he walked. "How does it feel to be called that?" He let out a small laugh as he shooed that thought out of his head, replacing it with the only person he wanted to see at that moment.

When he got out onto the road, he was once again approached by a black car with tinted windows, however, this one did know him, so he stopped and waited.

The car stopped and when the window was lowered, a mask appeared, and another one behind it.

"what are you two doing here?"

It was Luke and Kieran.

"We received a video report and thought he would need help."

"Yes, boss, with those looks you're wearing, the doctor will run away."

Deep down, he was glad to see those two. Very deeply.

Sylus folded his arms, "And you couldn't help me when they were attacking me? That's what I pay you for!"

"Nah," Luke said, "I had it all under control, boss."

"That's right, besides," Kieran spoke this time, "We brought you another suit to change into while we take you to your appointment."

"We promise you we won't look."

"Speak for yourself."

"Shut up, look how he's looking at you."

"He's looking at you."

"He will definitely kill you."

"Not if I..."

Sylus decided to ignore them, entered the car, and was surprised to find not only a spare suit much like his ruined one, but hair tools, accessories, perfume, and even a new pair of socks.

It wasn't the same as a shower, but now he was running late, so he decided to settle for that and ask his boyfriend for a bath later.

Arriving at the place, a rather fancy restaurant, he got out of the car as the twins gave him a few thumbs up, blurting out things like "The doctor will love you" or "Best of luck tonight, boss" and, ignoring them once again, went inside.

He looked around until he connected with that look he liked so much that man with deep eyes who gave him a smile that, although subtle, could melt him whole.

He went over to greet him with a kiss.

"How handsome you look today, Dr. Zayne," he whispered in his ear, pleased with the other man's blush.

"I can say the same for you, although you look a little sore," Zayne blurted out, scanning him with his eyes.

He didn't know if it was because of his profession, or because he knew him better than anyone else, perhaps a mixture of both, but although he disguised his discomfort very well, Zayne was able to tell that something was wrong.

"Stuff happened at work, graphic...stuff, but don't worry, I can still take you," Sylus said winking in his direction, to which the other man blushed harder.

"You should let me check you out when we get home, it could be serious" muttered Zayne, abashed.

"Check all you want, I'm happy to" Sylus murmured in turn, pulling his face closer, enjoying the embarrassment painted on Zayne's face.

...

After dinner, Sylus suggested a stroll through the nearby park, where a fair was being held for a few days.

To tell the truth, Sylus didn't remember visiting many, and he didn't know if Zayne would like it, but watching him look at the rides and booths with disguised interest made him feel better.

They came to a stuffed animal machine, one of those scams where people lost a lot of coins.

Sylus turned his face to watch Zayne's profile concentrating on the stuffed animals in front of them.

"Which one do you want?" Sylus asked with an arrogant air as if he had ever played on those machines.

"If you can catch it...the crow stuffed animal." Zayne pointed to a gray stuffed animal with a white ruffle.

"At your service, Dr. Zayne." Sylus tried, he really did, but not even someone like him could beat those demon machines.

Zayne did nothing but laugh at his null skill with the hook for ten minutes until Sylus suddenly raised his index finger and pointed nowhere in specific.

"Look, that, is that a kid with a knee injury?" said Sylus.

As Zayne turned his face, he activated his Evol to stick the stuffed animal on the hook and hold it until it fell out of the cabin at last.

"There's no..., oh, you got it," Zayne said, turning to Sylus, looking at him with some suspicion, but if he wanted to accuse him of cheating, he restrained himself.

In the end, he gladly accepted the gift, and they walked on.

"Why did you pick that one?" Sylus asked, taking his hand and leading him to a cotton candy stand.

"I don't know," Zayne shrugged, "it reminds me of you."

Sylus could only laugh, "I'm better looking though."

"But you two have the same face," Zayne raised the stuffed animal to Sylus' face level and laughed.

Seeing his smile, Sylus didn't miss the opportunity to admire the man in front of him and simply let him talk about how much they looked alike.

They continued to stroll a bit more, enjoying the view, occasionally Sylus would manage to steal kisses from Zayne and revel in each other's blushes.

They decided to head home when, as they passed the children's area, one of them kicked a ball very hard directly at Zayne's face, and as Sylus caught it with his hand, he winced, for he had forgotten the bullet that was somehow still embedded in it. He was sad that their date was over, although he knew he would feel better once he took a bath.

Besides, his boyfriend's steady gaze told him that if he didn't leave on his own, he would drag him home and bathe him himself.

It wasn't a bad idea after all.

...

He came out of the bathroom wearing a simple cotton T-shirt and pajama pants, both his own, as he had been leaving quite a few clothes at Zayne's lately, and went to find him on the couch.

He was sitting with a first aid kit in his hands and a worried look on his face.

"Well, I'm here now," Sylus said as he sat down next to him.

Zayne didn't say much, made him take off his shirt, and despite his suggestive comments, he just did his job.

First, he healed his arm, there were scratches, marks, and bumps, in addition to the first bullet wound.

He knew what Zayne was wondering, "Why hasn't it healed at all?" was the same thing he was thinking, but if he had any doubts, he didn't say them.

Everything was going well until he moved on to the second bullet wound, still embedded in his shoulder.

He had been sitting at an angle that would allow him to purposely cover him, and he felt guilty when Zayne, upon resting his gaze there, almost fainted.

Honestly, as soon as he saw his boyfriend's face in that restaurant, he completely forgot about the pain in his body, he was not aware of his injuries, as his head was fully occupied by that man, and besides, even if it did not heal as fast, his body still continued to function almost normally, so the bleeding had already stopped and the pain was suppressed considerably.

"Sylus, you've been up all night with a bullet embedded in your arm and you haven't even tried to get it out?" asked Zayne, his eyes watery.

"Uhm... Yes?"

"Why?"

"Because we had a date," Sylus replied as if it was nothing, "I didn't want to keep you waiting."

Zayne stared at him for a few seconds, his gaze indecipherable.

Finally, Sylus shrugged, hissing at the movement, which brought Zayne back from his stupor.

"You're incredible," Zayne whispered, placing two of his fingers on his nose as he took off his glasses for a second.

"I really don't know if you're stupid or tough."

"I'm just very much in love with you," Sylus blurted out, returning his gaze.

And Zayne kissed him.

He was expecting more nagging, maybe a blow, so at first he froze, but within seconds he recovered, kissing him back more deeply, tilted his head, pulled at Zayne's hair to gain more access, and felt how once again, his hairstyle was completely dismantled, this time by the hands of the man he loved.

This time, he was happy to have his hair in disarray.
