The sun beat down as Nick used the edge of his shirt to wipe sweat from his forehead. The air was full of the laughter of classmates, and his heart hammered from the latest try.
He made his way to the sidelines, watching half heartedly as the year 10s began their PE class. Long tan limbs with lithe muscles stretched, moved, and ran.
He swallowed, his throat dry, parched, and grasped for his water bottle.
“Nelson!” Sai called. “You coming back?”
Nick tore his eyes from the runner.
“Yeah… I was just…” His voice trailed off.
“Thirsty?” Sai laughed, smirking.
