The MOST important day of Agalia's life

Summary:

The once former space princess of the planet destroying dragon race, Agalia. Must face her greatest task yet. Taking the transfem shes in love with to Target.

Work Text:

Agalia tried once more. She looked up at the video device in front of her, and tried copying the cat's movement to no avail. She cursed her life. She cursed her brain most of all. That gave her all this mess in the first place. Now she would fail, and she would fail horrendously because she couldn’t even get her tie on. Even worse, a buzz came from the phone, it was from her, the girl that ruined her life. She cursed her too, a princess, even more a DRAGON princess should not be getting this up and arms about some horse. It was then her eyes went to the message sent, completely forgetting everything as she read it. “im omw!! It's a bit of a walk but ill manage <3” She’d look at the device, a smile slowly forming on her face as she saw the heart, before looking back down at herself, and continuing to utter curses as she tried once again. And she tried and tried to no avail for about 15 minutes. Many things were tossed. Curses yelled. Some chairs even broke. Before there would be a knock on her trailer door.

The dragon's eyes widened. She wanted MORE time, this couldn’t have just been it! But then she remembered, Sue had to have WALKED all the way over here, she must be so tired, and here she was worrying about some dumb tie! She’d leave the tie on its own. Muttering a curse at it, before finally walking up to the door, ready to open it. She’d look at herself. Half a suit jacket, tie, and some slacks and an old pair of boots Sam lended her as a joke.
“What the FUCK AM I DOING?!” She’d say out loud, causing a small peep from outside.
“Uhhhmmmm opening the door?” a small giggle would follow. She’d instantly open it after that. Now it was time. For the most important mission. And day of her life.
To take Sue to the target to go get headphones while her car was being repaired. The dragon was gonna be taught by Culi at first, but she found his style to be boring. She went with Sam, she just found him annoying after 10 minutes. Finally, it was Sue who finally taught her. Sue who gave her a chance. And Sue who's. Something Smile was staring back at her now as she panted a bit.
Unlike her, It seems Sue had perfectly planned her outfit for a trip to target. She seemed to plan even further ahead, seeing as she wasn’t driving, she’d have a pair of ankle high white boots. Above that she’d also have a somewhat long white dazzling skirt on, a small white lace tank top, and a puffy, sure enough, white short jacket. Even her eyeliner was white this time. She looked like she’d been battered by the snow, she’d sure Sam would say that at least, to which Agalia partially agreed. But more than all. She looked stunning. She already somewhat towered over her before, but at this point she was practically a god looking down on some small being. Which didn’t make sense to her, Agalia was a princess after all, yet here was this common horse, who looked the part, acted the part, and oh so definitely felt the part. She felt like a real princess. One that Agalia wanted to protect of course. Only that!
She’d shake her head.

“OO, Agalia, you look really, uh, tough like that!” Sue would say, looking down at her outfit and analyzing it. No doubt picking out every little layer of horribleness that it had.
She didn’t wanna acknowledge that though. Just that she had called her tough, She’d put on a small grin and look down.
“Oh I knew that beforehand!” She’d say.
“You look not bad and good yourself, horse.” She’d then quickly mumble.
Sue would smile.
“Thank you!! I usually like theming things, well, if you couldn’t tellll!” she’d look up and point up, mirroring Agalias sentiment towards her own outfit. She’d smile at that. She’d always love her little outfit themes, whereas Agalia went for whatever she felt highlighted her, muscles and personality (mainly personality she swore), Sue wore whatever went together best, she put thought into it. Which she didn’t seem to be putting into how her tie was undone. Thank Galaxia. Actually no, don’t thank her. Shes a bitch!
“Well unless you really want to dilly dally here with sentiments about outfits, I’ve got my bike all ready for you.” She’d smile.
Sue would nod her head excitedly.

“Thank you So much again Agalia, it just means alot to me you know-that you let me ON your bike!!” She’d excitedly say as they walked through the door.
Agalia knew what she was talking about. Once Sam tried grabbing the grips to it and she’d slap his hand. Once Culi tried looking at it and she nearly tackled him to the floor! Her bike was her pride, and her joy. Her symbol of her new life working, it was beautifully crafted, and most importantly, paid for with her own money. But she wanted to protect it, from something. She wanted to keep it safe and nice. Away from those morals her people had. Because in order for it to work, she had to keep it away. Now this wasn't just a PRINCESSES bike,it was hers.

She’d go onto the front of the bike, and look back at Sue as she approached, she carefully got on, and then proceeded to grab a helmet to put over her head.
“Waow-These seats are nice Agalia! They remind me of something like a comfy diner!” She’d say.
“HEY! Their BETTER then that too!-” Agalia was interrupted from defending her precious bike by the hoofs that would wrap themselves around her waist, she’d look down to see them, painted, just as the rest of her. White. Like the beautiful white of the moon.
Oh, she always did like that moon. She felt like a bit of an idiot now for not getting it sooner.
“S-Sorry I can take them off” Sue would say as she’d notice Agalia let out a little. Eh noise, before she’d quickly interrupt her.
“NO-NO! I suppose whatever works best and whatever works fastest could get us there!” She’d say.
Agalias last thoughts were actually on getting there.
As such, she’d then smile, wanting to put one on her face, she’d grab the handle bars, and rev them back, producing a loud roar from the bike.
“Waow-So…Cooool!” Sue would say in awe. Agalia would look the best she could as she’d slightly side eye her.
“Almost, ALMOST matches my own!-”
“WILL YOU KEEP IT DOWN OUT THERE! I’VE GOT WORK IN THE MORNING!!” A random man would shout from his trailer. Her neighbor. Paul. Ugh. PAUL.
“GO SUCK A WEENIE PAUL! OH, RIGHT YOUR GONNA DO THAT ANYWAY IN THE MORNING WITH THOSE HORRIBLE LITTLE DISGUSTING STUPID SAUSAGES!!!!” she’d scream back at him. Sue would look forward with an awkward smile.
“Wow, that was like 20 adjectives Agalia…” She’d murmur.
“I know my way around the Wikipedia Sue! I am not but the simple dragon who couldn’t use the…uh…the hell was it called-”
“A DS?”
“YES A DS! NOW C'MON!!” She’d say, before finally, driving out, and onto the night road. The streetlights painted the perfect path ahead of her, and feeling some sense of comfort, she’d start to speed up. Ready to drive like how she always did.
“W-WOAHHHHH FASSTTTTT!!!-” She’d cry out, noticing a yellow light ahead, she’d let out a little gasp. Agalia, would be ready to cross by it like nothing, barely getting it, but she’d feel her waist be gripped a bit tighter. Something about it, the way she’d clutch onto her as if she was truly scared for her life and just wanted someone, made her eyes widen, and she’d halt to a stop…in the middle of the road. 2 cars would stop in their path as she did.
“AGH-DAMN ITTTT!-” She’d murmur, as she’d then awkwardly drive past it all. What a failure.

“Agalia..?...Why’d you stop? W-We were actually gonna make it I think!-”
“BECAUSE I didn’t wanna RISK YOU Sue! No telling what could’ve happened I-”
She’d look down.
“Should’ve thought better.”
Sue would look at her, concerned as she’d let out a small pout.
“Its fine really, Agalia…” She’d murmur out.
Agalia would continue to look down. She thought she’d felt that fear before, she thought she’d even felt rejected in that time before. So when she stopped, she thought she was doing what she should’ve done to her. But she never did. Did she just do that? No, she was protecting her.
She’d never do that.

The horse and dragon would continue to drive, before entering a small freeway entrance and getting on, Sue would look out to all the lights in the distance of beautiful, light pollution. Well not really that beautiful, but she’d still be entranced enough for Agalia to simply focus on the road, and what she just did, she hoped it was fine really, if it wasn’t she would eat the bike.
The 2 would finally get off, and pull into the parking lot of Target, where Sue would let her hooves off of Agalias waist. It felt as if someone took off a backpack for Agalia, one that held everything she cared about most. She’d wait on the bike anyway, kicking its stand into place with a cool stare As Sue would reach back to grab a black bat purse she’d brought with her. Her one accessory that wasn’t white.
“Now don’t take god damn FOREVER okay?” She’d say.
“What? Aren’t you gonna come with me Agalia?” She’d turn around to look at her, as she was walking away.
“Me?-i HAVE TO KEEP-GUARD, OVER THIS BIKE SUE!” She’d try and plead.
“Ohhhhh, well okay, I’ll try not to be too long then!!” She’d smile, before turning around once more.
She’d watch, hypnotized by her walk, her hips seemed to be fully accentuated when she took every little step, and with her boots it seemed like she was still trying to get used to them, cute, or something. She’d gotten used to those kind of boots at age 4! But more importantly, her tail would swish back and forth, and more miraculous then those flowers in it actually staying in place, sometimes it would swish just far enough, to see her behind…eh, she was, getting off topic here. She didn’t actually want her to go, not at all.

“HEY-WAIT!-” She’d get off, and quickly rush over to Sue. Nearly kicking her pride and joy the bike to the ground as she did. “SHIT-”
Sue would turn back around, a smile slowly filling her face.
“Agalia!!” she’d happily say.
“I do want to come with you, horse..” She’d admit defeat.
“Besides, if any fool even TRIES to touch it, I will GRIND THEIR BONE MARROW INTO A PALPABLE DRINK!!” She’d exclaim, fist up in the air.
“I don’t think you’d really wanna drink that Agalia!!” She’d giggle, as the 2 would walk into the store. Agalia would look on, somewhat surprised.
“Sue? There doesn’t seem to be ANYONE IN THIS STORE AT ALL!! Are you sure its even OPENED??” She’d question.
“Of course Agalia! I just came here late cause I know you don’t really like crowded places, so don’t I!” She’d say.
How caring. Disgusting. She knew one of her insecurities. So nice though, so kind and pretty.
The 2 would walk down the isles, browsing the many items the store held, whether it be Mittens that didn’t exactly fit either of them, dumbbells that Agalia would take a liking to, or stuffed animals Sue would cuddle for about 2 minutes straight. Everything seemed to be an easy conversation starter. This was like easy mode!

That was until, they’d go down a toy isle, and find a small action figure, of a yellow, fat bald man. Despite those horrible attributes, Sue would pick it up, and look at it with a smile. Agalia knew this fat man. He was LIKE the rest of them. And a show like that? *She* watched something like that?
“Look Agalia!! Homer!! DOH!!! Mmmmmmm Donuttttt!” She’d say with giggles in between her words. Agalia would try to laugh, before looking down at her.
“Sue, you seriously watch dribble like that?” She’d say.
“Dribble??? That's The Simpsons your talkin about!!” She’d fire back, still with that smile though.
“YES! DRIBBLE! Someone like YOU shouldn’t be watching something, so..”
She’d turn away.
“ADULT AND CRASS!”
Sue would tilt her head in confusion at her. Her smile was gone now, and she’d put it back.
“Well, I still like The Simpsons, did you like my impression at least??” She’d try to smile.
Agalia noticed it. That wasn’t like her real one. She wanted to grab that toy and rip it in half now! WHAT DID IT DO??
“I suppose it did sound like him…” She’d try to smile as well.
“Yay!” she’d exclaim, before walking away. Like nothing happened.
What was going wrong here? First the tie, then that stupid light, and now this?! A BUNCH OF BULL!!
She’d shake her head, public place=property damage which equals potentially MORE probation…
Eventually, Sue would find her new headphones, they wouldn’t actually end up being white to her surprise, but instead pink, of course, her SECOND favorite color, she knew things about her too!
As they walked up to the register to pay, she’d take out her wallet, and the 20 bucks for it, she’d continue to look down and away though, not only had she never been out this late and was getting tired, but in all honesty, she wanted this to be over now. She felt like she ruined it, and now there was no point in this anymore. She wanted to go back home, rip apart something, and then punch herself in the stomach still she’d feel numb and go to sleep. Or maybe something more was warranted this time, for messing up this bad. A bigger punishment.

The 2 would walk back to the bike, before they could get on though, Sue would suddenly speak up.
“Agalia?” She’d question.
“What? What is it?” Agalia would retort back.
“You look well, really tired!” She’d say.
“Yeah, well it's been a long night through hell.” She’d say.
Sue would tilt her head with a frown.
“I’m sorry.” She’d apologize.
“No, please don’t BLAME yourself here, I don’t know what I’m doing.” She’d say, looking down.
“Well, I don’t really wanna be mean, but i wanna be truthful too!! I’ve kind of…” Sue herself would look away, before looking back right into her eyes.
“Feel like you've been babying me this whole time!!” She’d exclaim.
Agalias eyes would twitch.
“What? BABYING you?? You're a grown woman sue! Why would I do that??”
Sue would shrug, somewhat frightened.
“I don’t know…why, uhm…would you?’ She’d question, holding her hoofs together.
“I’D NEVER BABY YOU SUE! NEVER EVER, EVERYTHING I DO, IS TO PROTECT THE ANIMAL THAT GAVE ME A CHANCE, TO PROTECT YOU AND MAKE YOU HAPPY!-”
“I am happy,Agalia! I’m happy when you're happy! I’m happy when YOUR being you! I’m happy when you go for those yellow lights, or just, do things that are like you!! You DON’T have to always protect me Agalia!!”
“I’m a grown woman, like you said…and, I don’t plan on leaving you anytime soon…”
Agalia would clutch her fists. She hated that she needed to hear that. She hated that that was like a soothing lullaby to her tiny little ears.
“That's…I ... .I'm really tired, Sue…” She’d confess.
“I don’t wanna say anything really, god damn stupid!” She’d exclaim.
“But, I guess with all of that…I wanted to not…be like..well…someone I used to know…I wanted to be better, protect you from all this while keeping my new life and..it..it isn’t working! WHY NOT??” She’d stomp on the ground, Sue would quickly walk over, and clench one of her claws.
“Because, you're still trying things out Agalia…it's fine, the dragon I’ve talked to, the one that's growing and slowly becoming much more like herself…I wanna spend time with her.” She’d say, a loving smile on her face, her pretty pink rose eyes staring into her own fiery orange ones, they mesmerized that flame within her, and soothed it. God, after all this, she was just a mommy’s girl at heart. Thanks Mom.
“Hey, Agalia-I wanted to ask!-I-I saw how you were driving, and thought WOW this is just like, the old dirtbikes me and my DAD used to ride all the time and well, seeing you so tired and sleepy-”
“WHAT? WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME THAT SOONER HORSE?!” Agalia would look baffled.
“I-I’M SORRY I DIDN’T WANNA DRAG YOU ALL THE WAY HERE-I DIDN’T THINK IT WOULD WORK LIKE ONE AT FIRST BUT YOU KNOW ME-I KEPT IT IN MY MIND LIKE Oh wow I wonder if it works like that and OH NO IF IT DOES I DRAGGED HER INTO THIS FOR NOTHING but then I was like like she’d ever let YOU ride her bike and then I was like-”
“WHAT?!” She’d exclaim once more.
Before letting out a tired, little laugh.

“Yeah, you can, ride my bike Sue, just get me the hell home please.” She’d say with her own somewhat clam smile. As Sue would delicately place herself on the bike, she’d put on her helmet, before passing one to Agalia, who’d decline since well, her horns could protect her, but even more, she could protect herself. Much like how Sue could protect her, She’d grab onto her waist as she did her, to which Sue would let out a small little noise of glee, as the 2 took off, she’d clench her tighter and harder. She almost felt bad, but Sue truly cared about her. She cared about her and liked her anger, her driving, her weird little insecurities, her choice of weights, her messed up tie. She liked her. She liked Agalia. She cared about her. And Agalia cared about Sue, more than anyone else in this weird, horrid world. She cared about her, and that was wonderful. She didn’t always have to be those qualities, all she had to be was, Agalia. As she’d lay her head into her jackets soft back like a pillow. She’d feel herself falling asleep, this really was the most important day of her life after all.
