Work Text:
The fire of the stars
Shone in the red of your hair
The questions we asked
Were left in the air.
Together we fell,
Until your wings black were
But I had you in my arms,
The new world ours to inspire.
You said you felt pain
And that the almighty was unfair.
I, however, could only marvel
At the new freedom, before so rare.
I tried to show you that,
And the lesson you decided to share.
But the humans got the sword,
And your heart once more in snare.

Starmarker of mine, don't you see?
Only in my company I guarantee
That you can really be free.
Not with an angel with no pedigree,
Not spending the rest of your eternity
Watching him drink cups of tea;
Not with this principality,
That is so high on his morality,
But only didn't fell his his bravery-inability.
Decades flew by, millenia in a second.
You tried to hide your affair,
But the angel kept by your right,
Even if my chain you'd wear.
I hoped you'd see reason,
That you'd see how my heart was bare —
Oh, if only you took it in your hands,
If only you accepted hell as your lair.
But there is no hope for the fallen,
Nor way out, as far I'm a aware —
As you always said, it's always Too Late
And for me — for us — there's only despair.
I looked in to the future
A plan I began to prepare:
Hell should win the war,
No angel left to spare.
I know it may sound cruel,
But all I wanted was a duel—
Not with the angel, but with those who rule.
So then your stars wouldn't be ridicule,
Created with no purpose besides to jewel
The crown of whose dipped us in a sulphur pool.
But together you two made me a fool.
My rebel son, no longer my tool —
And once again the conflict I had to fuel.
The angel was finally gone
And you, free from underwear,
Spread out in my bed,
In your golden eyes I stare.
Your lean body against the sheets,
You there all mine to care:
Your throat for me to bite,
Your heart mine to repair.
How could light not love the Starmaker?
I ask myself, should my love I declare?
That doubt always consumed me —
I even asked Danny, from HR!
But then when you look at me,
It's not really me that you glare;
Instead you see a memory with blue eyes,
And that my ego couldn't bare.

Go away starmaker of mine —
Please, let our hands disentwine,
And get your angel out to dine.
Upon in heaven he is in confine,
Right there between the divine
So take already this lift that's cursed by design.
As you go up, shivers crawl down my spine;
Much like you in your worst moments of pine
I now drown myself in wine.
I immediately regretted asking you
To seek comfort elsewhere.
I tried reaching for you,
But you had already left Mayfair.
I looked for you in every corner,
Getting more and more solitaire.
Worry made a home in me,
as I met the one with white hair.
He shook my shoulder unafraid,
"Everything went in the shape of a pear!"
Yelling at me as if I was at fault!
"You will help me, if even a little you care!"
This is something I never expected:
Saving you from other angels together.
Now I notice, there would never be a way
I could only be an affair.
We raid the above,
His flaming sword fits his hand like a glove
Against the flames, the Metatron falls like a dead dove.
"I feel his love!"
He shouts, and we find you about to get a shove
The war finding its end — at least kind of.
The ones that were unloved,
Were all of us, under this gov.
Free from the hierarchy, we're free to live, thereof.
"War is over!", all angels shout.
Arm in arm, we go down the stair.
No more heaven or hell,
The universe became our lair.
"What you had in mind?
You're so foolish, I swear!"
You laugh, and I do too;
He says as if he hadn't put all in a scare.
Together we walk Soho streets,
Breathing deeply earth's air.
We pass near a pastry shop and you offer,
"Do you want an eclair?"
The angel took in his own
The hands to me so dear.
"I'm quite peckish too", he uttered
I feel down my cheek a single tear.
I see it now, it's the bastard tone
And that smile warming till the bone
(Even if still smelling of ozone.)
But what really caught my attention
Was the way your smile shone
As you watch him eating a scone.
When everything is said and done,
I can't deny he's the only one –
And your happiness should never be gone.
Relief washes over us
Nothing more to beware,
A whole new life to built —
Not even the Fall could compare.
Not with all the pain that it brought,
Not with its high fare.
Even if not a win for either side
This time there's only delight, I declare.
"We're officially retired."
It doesn't hurt that you talk as a pair.
"Are you really sure?
Doesn’t it lack… flair?"
"Nah, I just crave the quiet, a garden,
A cottage with the ocean near."
A strange dream, and beautiful nonetheless;
"I wish I had one to wear."
"You don't need to foment despair and ire
You can follow all that you desire!
You loved rock, why not more of that inspire?"
"Even as angel, music was you fire—"
"Oh, I even recall you always with a lyre!"
"—all of the world would you admire."
"You could travel in your best attire,
And maybe along the road you'd even acquire
More hearts to sing in your choir!"
Well that's an interesting idea:
Crowds chanting my name in prayer
Have the world in my hands,
In all radios make my voice blare.
Oh, Danny will be thrilled,
I'll take her everywhere!
It will be fun to see all humans
Entranced by her stare!
"That's- not exactly what I had in mind,
But I should've expected a demonic layer."
“Lucifer you will always find
A fireplace to rest with us, here.”
“So when you get tired
Or have some time to spare
Come to our cottage,
We will have cocoa to share.”
