Work Text:
It was nearly two in the afternoon and Angel had still yet to leave his room.
Vaggie was beginning to get rather frustrated. She knew he was a bit spotty when it came to his participation, but he wasn't out at work and he hadn't even come down for a drink. He'd missed out on that day's therapy exercise (much to Charlie's dismay), and it had been complete radio silence from him all day.
She was hoping she could just send Husk up to check on the man since he was closer to Angel than any of the rest of them, but Husk was out on a job that Alastor had tasked him with, Charlie was busy, and Alastor was doing his broadcast for the day, meaning that the only person left to make sure that Angel hadn't fucking overdosed was Vaggie.
So, irritated, she made her way up to Angel's room and knocked on the door. This received a groan and a small "Fuck off" from the other side, to which she rolled her eyes and opened the door.
"I told you to fuck off" Angel said in annoyance as he turned over in his bed to face away from her. Fat Nuggets had a worried expression and looked to Vaggie for help.
"Angel, why haven't you left your bed all day?"
"I wasn't aware I had a schedule I had to follow" he retorted. "Is that one of Charlie's new bright ideas?"
"Don't you even start with-" Vaggie paused and took a deep breath. She knew there was no point in getting into an arguing match with him. When had that ever solved anything, really? She decided to try a different approach. "How did you end up like this?" she asked, gentler this time. "Are you sick, or-"
"My fuckin back and joints hurt, alright?" Angel told her, still on the defense. "Don't you guys have a fuckin' medical record of me or some shit"
"I don't think so" Vaggie shook her head. "Or, if there is one, I haven't seen it"
"Gee, tight fuckin' ship y'all are runnin'"
"...I have Arthritis" Vaggie told him, hoping that her opening up would help him open up as well. This made him turn over to look at her again. He didn't say anything, he just stared at her with wide eyes. "The doctor said it'll get worse in the future, but it's still hard sometimes now"
"...Fibromyalgia and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome" Angel said quietly. Vaggie nodded. "It's just hard sometimes, and I've been in too much pain today to get up. Sorry I missed group"
"Don't apologize" Vaggie said gently. "All you gotta do is say something, Angel. We have no issue giving accommodations"
"Really?"
"Yeah" the ex-angel nodded. "Pentious has a bunch of accommodations in place for his Autism. His room was soundproofed and also supplied with various fidget toys and things to make living here easier for him"
"...Oh"
"We can look into getting you medications and whatnot, if you want it, but, in the meantime, we can give you off days when needed and a few extra pillows or stuffed animals for joint support, okay?"
"...Okay" Angel said timidly, hugging Fat Nuggets close to him. The pig smiled at Vaggie, and she found herself smiling back. "...Thanks, Vaggie"
"No need to thank me, Angel Dust"
