Chapter 1: one. the beginning

Chapter Text

Reo has always been with Nagi, Nagi with Reo. They were inseparable, from high school to university. Reo has always been the apple of Nagi's eye, and that was a fact that everyone but Reo himself knew.

"Nagi, hey!" Reo called out as he wrapped his arm around Nagi's shoulder, forcing the taller of the two to bend down to accommodate to Reo. Everyone turned to look at the duo, before looking away to continue about their day.

Reo ruffled Nagi's hair expertly. "You ready for training today?" He asked excitedly, while Nagi was just silently making a face before nodding slowly.

"It's a pain, but I'll do it if you're doing it." Nagi grumbled. Reo grinned brightly, almost rivalling that of the sun in Nagi's opinion. Reo ran off to go talk to his others friends, and Nagi trailed behind.

A deep, ugly feeling settled in Nagi's gut. He was unable to describe it, but whenever he looked at Reo, seeing the latter talk to other people so easily, Nagi felt a deep rooted anger and disgust swirling within.

He didn't understand why he felt that way. It wasn't like Nagi had a say on who Reo talked to, right? So why did Nagi feel like he wanted to rip Reo away from everyone, and keep him close?

Nagi shook his head rapidly, snowy white hair falling over his eyes as he looked away from the sight to calm himself down momentarily. He sighed, walking off to the fields to wait for his best friend to arrive.

It was routine; Nagi would wait for Reo, and the latter would initiate, and Nagi would simply follow suit. It was the easiest route for Nagi, who found many things to be a hassle.

"Hey, did I make you wait long? Wait, Nagi! I told you to change to your uniform before sitting here!" Reo sighed as he walked over, ruffling white hair before taking Nagi's uniform out for him.

Nagi was forced to change, and even enlisted Reo's help, though everyone knew that the purple haired teenager would do it even if Nagi hadn't asked. That's how much Reo helped him.

Throughout practice, Nagi couldn't shake the nasty feeling in his gut whenever he saw Reo talk to anyone that wasn't him. He didn't feel this way before; and it was all so confusing.

('Let's go, my treasure!')

Nagi soon clocked why he always felt that way about Reo when he found himself taking photos of Reo secretly when the purple haired teenager wasn't watching.

He would stare at the secret photos he took, admiring them and taking more. Nagi couldn't stop, he simply couldn't help himself from taking photos of Reo when he wasn't looking.

The obsession grew over the months. It started off innocent; Nagi would find himself taking photos of his best friend when they were playing soccer, or walking together. He could play it off as something silly without Reo finding it weird.

But as time passed and the simple, innocent photos lost its touch and appeal, Nagi was beginning to spiral deeper; down a dark hole that he would find himself stuck in for the next few months in their university life.

Nagi was watching Reo, who was talking to a female friend further down by the university's soccer field. Usually, Nagi wouldn't care; he would walk up to his friend, draping himself over Reo while listening to the latter talk.

This time, he had a burning itch to get rid of the girl that was talking to Reo. Swiftly, Nagi whipped his phone out, hiding lazily behind the wall and opening his camera up.

Raising his arm, he zoomed in on Reo, before snapping a photo. Nagi's heart soared when he looked down at the beautiful photo of Reo, sunlight shining on his facial features, making him look ethereal to Nagi.

He watched as Reo walked off, and he followed.

Nagi knew that Reo was busy today, he had a high society event to attend to. Nagi was going to just make sure that Reo wasn’t finding any suitors for himself.

(‘Nagi is a treasure that I found.’)

Nagi’s eye twitched as he watched Reo hop into a limousine. He secretly followed, getting into a taxi and asking the driver to follow the sleek black limousine.

When asked why, Nagi simply didn’t explain. It was too much of a hassle to explain to some guy why he was following Reo. The man wouldn’t understand that Nagi needed to follow Reo.

Reo hopped out of the limousine, and Nagi told the driver to stop further down. He quickly handed the taxi driver some cash before getting out quickly, keeping himself hidden.

Nagi snapped a photo of Reo, looking ethereal under the lamp-light on the cold street. He muttered under his breath, knowing what he was going to do was extremely risky, and on a normal day, he wouldn’t go through so much steps just to take photos of Reo, but this was extremely important for him.

With a lot of unknown stealth that Nagi shockingly possessed, he managed to slip into the event. Nagi hid, his eyes widening when he spotted Reo looking and talking to a tall man with black hair, in a nice and pristine suit.

“Good evening, Mr. Mikage. It’s such a pleasure to finally meet you.” The man bowed to Reo, who greeted him back politely. The two got to chatting, someone Nagi zoned out on.

He took a few good angles photos of Reo, smiling to himself. He was satisfied with this, but the itch in his chest was telling him he needed to be closer to the Mikage heir.

Nagi gritted his teeth, spending the night tiptoeing around, and trying to take nicer photos.

He scored the jackpot when he managed to snag a photo of Reo out on the balcony by himself, his hair down, the light breeze and hanging light casting a gentle glow on his features.

Nagi was mesmerised, looking at his best friend who was drinking his champagne while leaning against the railing. Shaking himself out of his stupor, he quickly snapped possibly one of the prettiest photos he’s ever had of Reo.

His eyes twinkle, before he slinked away from the event.

(‘I want him to be mine!’)

Nagi sat in his room, exhausted. He wore a white hoodie and sweatpants, lazing on his swivel chair.

His room was his sanctuary. With privacy, he could play his games in peace. His parents were never home, always busy on business trips across the world; never having time for their son.

Now, Nagi admired his new roomscape.

All over his walls, photos of Reo were plastered all over. Nagi almost let out a laugh, a smile of his own. Nagi stood up, walking over to the one by his bed. The photo of Reo, standing by the railing at the event, all alone under the moonlight.

Nagi finally let a smile grace his face.

‘Reo is mine. Mine, and only mine. No one else can have him, can make him as happy as I do. No one will get to have him fully like I can.’

He caressed the photo, a sickening gleam in his eyes. He needed to take a step further, to make sure that Reo was his, forever.

(‘Hey Reo, soccer is interesting, huh?’)

“Nagi, oi, Nagi!” Reo shook Nagi awake after their last lecture had ended. Nagi blearily opened an eye, his arm instinctively reaching out to hold onto Reo’s hand.

“Wanna play soccer with me today, Nagi? Pleaseee?” Reo asked, looking down at Nagi with a frown on his face. Nagi never wanted to see Reo frown like that ever again.

“Sure. Anything for you.” Nagi said immediately, catching Reo off guard. The taller man had never so quickly accepted an offer to play soccer with Reo before, always complaining before accepting, saying that soccer was a hassle and he didn’t want to play, but eventually agreeing.

This time, he had agreed almost instantly.

Nagi packed his bag, following Reo down to the soccer field. He slowly got changed, mind occupied on the fact he was spending time with Reo, alone.

The object of his desires.

Nagi only liked soccer for Reo. He ran across the field, wanting to make Reo happy.

Reo, Reo, Reo.

“Nagi, score!” Reo said excitedly, and of course, who was he to deny the most beautiful man ever such a request?

Nagi used his strength to send the ball flying into the goal at high speed. He felt that it was mediocre, but he turned to see Reo with the brightest smile on his face.

“That was so good! You always never fail to impress me, Nagi! Even when you complain that soccer’s ’too much of a hassle’, you have the natural talent!” Reo praised Nagi, ruffling his snowy white hair.

Nagi felt his heart race at an abnormal speed. It was unhealthy, how fast his heart was beating when he felt Reo’s soft and smooth hands in his hair, and the praise falling from his lips.

Nagi needed more. He needed Reo to only praise him. To only notice him. Nagi needs Reo, and while everyone already knew that, Nagi himself knew that no one would ever understand the extent of how much Nagi needed Reo in his life.

In the spur of the moment, Nagi turned to Reo.

“Can I take a photo of you?” Nagi blurted out.

Reo turned to him, surprised. However, he simply beamed and nodded excitedly, posing for the taller man. Nagi took his phone out, snapping photos of Reo in various poses that the heir chose to do, much to both of their delight.

Nagi took many photos of Reo, his heart soaring as he let a smile form on his face. Reo grinned when he saw Nagi smiling. “Aww, you’re smiling! I haven’t seen you smile in such a long time, Nagi!”

The two of them messed around on the field a little more, before the Mikage heir was called by his driver to head to the front gates, because Reo had another event to attend.

“I gotta go, I’ll see you tomorrow!” Reo ruffled Nagi’s fluffy hair, before smiling and running off. Leaving Nagi on the field, smiling like a damn fool.

He looked down at his phone, almost buzzing in excitement that he had new photos the print up and paste on his wall.

Nagi immediately grabbed his bag and stuffed his things into it, before rushing back home. He sat at his computer, hurriedly typing and sending all of the photos he took to his printer, printing out the photos he took today of Reo.

He hung it up on his wall, eyes glimmering as he chuckled to himself, caressing the photos with his finger, muttering under his breath.

“No one can have you other than me, Reo. You’re mine, whether you like it or not.” Nagi chuckled, muttering to himself. The photo of Reo smiling happily under the sun, while Nagi took a photo of him, it made Nagi giddy.

No one could have Reo the way Nagi had him.

Even if it means doing whatever it takes to keep people away from Reo.

(‘You’d better watch me closely…’)

Things soon went downhill when Nagi overheard someone asking his beloved out on a date. He halted his footsteps, hiding behind the wall, listening closely while peeking out to see whichever bastard was asking his beloved sunshine Reo out on a date.

His eyes twitched when he spotted a girl, long and beautiful brown hair, asking Reo out. Nagi felt his eyes twitch again when he heard Reo reluctantly accept the offer to go out on a date.

His first instinct was to rush over and rudely tell the girl that Reo was busy, and taken. But that would make Reo completely weirded out by Nagi.

Nagi needed a solid plan to get rid of this girl. She was hindering Nagi from grabbing Reo and keeping the purple haired man all to himself. If Nagi couldn’t have Reo, no one can.

Nagi was going to get rid of all his competition. Because no one deserved to be Reo’s more than Nagi does.

Because Nagi is Reo’s, and Reo is Nagi’s.

That’s how it has always been.

And no one is going to stop Nagi from taking what rightfully belongs to him.
