Summary
28-year-old Cari Roewood thought she finally had stability: a steady job in Maine, a cute apartment close to her work, and her guide dog Coco, her best pal that helps her live an independent life being legally blind. But due to budget cuts, her job suddenly disappears overnight, and she is forced to think up a game plan. That is when her best friend, Semira Lamb-Hawthorne, comes to the rescue. Semira lives in Crowfort, Colorado: a homesteading town made up of a tightknit community--which is working on building their own museum. With Cari's background in library sciences and curation, she ends up being a perfect fit. Taking a leap of faith, she moves to the area: a town of Yee-haw Satanism, a group of magic users who are Ghouls, and a place that holds a surprisingly large amount of history.
There, she ends up working with Trae Hawthorne/Terzo/ex-Papa Emeritus III--the younger brother of Copia (or as the town knows him, Ersat Hawthorne--husband of Semira, and much loved philanthropist). As time passes, Terzo and Cari become closer, and while it's never a good idea to mess around with a co-worker...the fiery blonde puts up an offer that a broke, and down on his luck, Terzo can't refuse...
