Work Text:
“Po, I’m back” Thame said as he closed the apartment door behind him. He was met with silence. His eyes wondered around the room looking for Po. Thame saw him sitting at his desk, he seemed to be very focused on his work. Thame was worried, recently he noticed Po had been drowning in work. Ho wonders whether Po even ate today. He put his bags on the table and made his way over to Po. Po was still focused on his work, not noticing Thame at all. Thame was now standing behind Po. He bent down and gently wrapped his arms around Po, careful to not startle him.
“Oh, Thame” Po said softly, “you’re back early today.”
“We finished practice earlier today.” Thame answered, not letting go of Po. “I think you should finish your work today too; you have done so much you must be tired.”
Po turned his head to look at Thame. “But Thame, I must- “Po was silenced by Thame who was gave him a quick peck on the lips.
“No buts. We are having a date night.” He said to Po proudly. Thame had been excited for tonight; he had planned a date with Po. Of course, Thame never told his boyfriend, he wanted to surprise him. Po looked at him in curiosity, wondering what Thame had planned for tonight. Thame made his way across the room back to his bags he left on the table. He opened one of them and took a box of Lego. It was a plum blossom Lego set. Thame knew how much Po wanted this set, but it had always been sold out. He could see the sparkle in his boyfriends’ eyes.
“How did you even get that set? It has always been sold out.” Po said as he got up and walked over to Thame.
“Got lucky I guess.” Thame shrugged. Po smiled at him and that is the smile Thame loved the most. His favourite thing was making Po smile, seeing his boyfriend happy bought him more joy than anything else in the world.
“Thank you.” Po whispered into Thames ear as he hugged him. For just a second Thames world came to a stop. No matter how many times they hugged Thame still needed to a second process the fact that Po had in fact wrapped his arms around him. Thame hugged him back, burying his face into Pos’. He loved Pos' woody scent, it calmed him, made him feel happy. It feels like all his problems melt away.
Thame moved away first. “Have you eaten?” he questioned. Po didn’t answer. His eyes were on anything but Thame. He sighed, once again his boyfriend got so caught up in work he forgot to eat. “Po, you forgot to eat again.” His voice was a mixture of annoyance and worry. He didn’t like how Po forgot to eat. He didn’t like how Po was drowning in work. He didn’t like how he couldn’t just be with Po and take of him all day and every day. As much as he loved being an idol, he also loved being a caring boyfriend, especially to Po.
“Sorry, I just had so much to do I guess it slipped my mind.” Po pouted. Thame simply shook his head and took a sandwich out from his bag. Not only did he get the Lego, but he also got his boyfriends favourite sandwich on the way home. Po smiled; he loved seeing how much Thame cared for him. “Thank you so much” he said, kissing Thame on the cheek.
“Let’s eat and then we can build Lego together” Thame said. Po just nodded in return; his mouth was already filled with the sandwich.
After they both ate Thame opened the box and got everything laid out on the table. Po simply sat on the couch watching him. Once everything was laid out Po shuffled down from the couch to the floor, sitting down next to Thame. Po decided to make the flowers while Thame did the pot. They kept conversation going, laughing at the silliest jokes together. Occasionally, one would peck the other cheeks. Thame finished the pot before Po was done with the flowers. Po had taken longer on the flowers as he spent most of the time watching Thame build rather than doing the actual building himself.
Thame rested his head on Pos’ shoulder. “You’re still going?” Thame murmured. Po simply hummed in return. Thame kept his head on his shoulder, watching him. He could never get tired of Po, no matter how many times he has seen him and felt him, it always felt just like the first time. He now studied Pos’ hands as if he had never seen them before. As much as he had wanted to continue watching, his eyes have betrayed him. He drifted off into sleep.
Not long after Thame had fallen asleep Po was finished with the Lego. He placed the final product in the centre of the table. He wondered what Thames’ expression would look like in the morning when he sees it. He slowly and gently picked up Thame and carried him bridal style into the bed. Carefully laying him onto the bed and tucking him in. Po gave him a quick kiss on the forehead and went to take a shower before bed.
Thame smiled. He knew whenever he fell asleep first Po would just carry him to bed. Now his favourite thing to do is sleep and be carried by Po. He wonders whether Po will ever find out, but it didn’t matter, even if he finds out Po would just continue to carry his boyfriend into bed.
