Summary:

The pair had fallen into a comfortable life... one that sort of scared Saitama. He never dreamed of such a thing; not that he imagined living out his days in horrible excitement, especially since his emotions had become so incredibly dulled when his strength massively increased. It was just...

Was Genos content?

Notes:

My first contribution to SaiGenos Week! I used the Saitama prompt for Day One, which was Domesticity. Enjoy!

Work Text:

Their life, both men realized, was painfully domestic.

Other than the fighting monsters part (which most people couldn't say they did, therefore it totally wasn't normal), most of what they did together was painfully average. Waking up, making breakfast, eating it sitting side-by-side, watching or reading the news, doing the shopping, cooking, taking on different chores (although Genos did most, if not all, of them, on a bi-daily basis), cuddling, and falling asleep together. Among other things, of course.

The pair had fallen into a comfortable life... one that sort of scared Saitama. He never dreamed of such a thing; not that he imagined living out his days in horrible excitement, especially since his emotions had become so incredibly dulled when his strength massively increased. It was just...

Was Genos content?

He was still young. Nineteen, going on twenty. Plus, he was a cyborg- and smart, and handsome, and cool, and had a ton of fans. The guy had tons of opportunities to do anything he wanted to- including leave for something, or someone, better. That thought put a pit in the older man's stomach, churned it like he'd been drinking too much. He hadn't had a drop of alcohol since he was just out of college, but the effect was the same.

Loving someone way out of your league was hard.

---

Genos had been folding laundry (one of the most domestic fucking things one could do) when Saitama asked him about it. He almost didn't want to, but it'd been bugging him more than anything. More than the two times the cyborg had come home damaged that week (they weren't horrible injuries- just a few plates loose, so his point stood further).

"Hey, Genos." Well, here it goes.

The blond looked up from his task, blinking almost sweetly. His significant other could've kissed him right then and there. "Yes, Saitama?"

"Ah-" The bald man scratched the back of his head. "You aren't... bored here, are you? I mean, things can be... a little quiet, I guess. It's probably my fault, but-"

"Why are you asking? I like it here. You're here," Genos insisted, frowning slightly. "I am confused, Saitama."

"Jeez... I just guess that I..." Shit. Saitama found he didn't really know. He was grabbing for a bullshit answer when the sad truth suddenly came out: "I'm afraid you'll get tired of me and leave for something better."

The teen's eyes widened and he immediately dropped the shirt in his hands, using them to grasp his love's tenderly. "Please... don't say such things. I would never- I love you, and I have loved you for quite some time. Here... with you... is home to me, you know? It's perfect. I'm not throwing that away. Not giving you up- ever." He punctuated his answer with a kiss. "Okay?"

Saitama believed him. Smiling softly and nodding, he embraced Genos, rubbing his warm metal back, humming a quiet affirmation. After a short silence, he laughed to himself, ruffling a head of golden hair.

"We're domestic as shit, man."

Genos couldn't help but chuckle as well.

"I know. I love it."
