“Hey,” Ekko said. “Don’t be mad at me.”
“Not a great start,” Jinx said.
“But I completely forgot it was Valentine’s Day.”
Jinx stared at him.
“It’s Valentine’s Day? Shit. I didn’t get you anything.”
“Oh, thank Janna,” Ekko said. “I got a gift for you, so that means I’m still the responsible one.”
“What?”
“Here,” he said, handing her a package so heavy she almost stumbled upon receiving it. “I couldn’t get something romantic like flowers or chocolate, so I hope this is okay.”
Jinx pulled off the messy wrapping paper.
“Bullets!” She squealed, tackling Ekko with a hug. “Thankyouthankyouthank you!”
“Glad…you like it,” Ekko gasped, struggling to breathe.
Jinx released him, thankfully.
“But I didn’t get you anything. I should have bought a watch or something.”
“Well,” Ekko said, smirking. “I could think of some other ways to celebrate Valentine’s.”
“Oh, right!” Jinx said, grabbing his collar. “Come on, Little Man. Let’s make this a day to remember.”
