Chapter Text
A Letter from the King
To my dearest Faramir,
I pray to all the Valar this letter finds you well. As I am writing this, unease has taken my heart and I find my thoughts drawn to you, for last night I woke shaking from an ill dream.
In its foul grip I saw you weeping for three days and three nights, unreachable to any touch or voice, and the sound of your torn cries haunts me still. I can only hope it truly was a dream and nothing more, but if in some cruel twist of fate or fortune there is trouble in Ithilien, I implore you, my friend, do not tarry in sending a response.
Please know I shall come as swiftly as I am able should you or your children need aid.
I hope to hear from you soon.
With love from myself and the Lady Arwen,
Aragorn.
A Response from the Steward
To dear Aragorn and Lady Arwen,
Thank you for the letter. I fear I cannot comfort you from such an ill dream as I cannot comfort myself. It is a dream I live and breathe and there is no escaping it in wakefulness or sleep.
My love, my Lady Eowyn has passed in the night.
Please, come in all haste. I must prepare for the funeral and to inform her family in Rohan and I fear I cannot attend my duties as either Steward nor as Prince of Ithilien. The task before me by itself feels more than I can carry, as now I carry it alone.
Your presence will be a great comfort.
With all the love I can now muster,
Faramir.
