“I’m worried about you, Pete,” Porsche insisted. “You’re not how you used to be.”
“Yeah, well neither are you,” Pete snapped. “And if you’re so worried, why is this the first time I’m hearing about it?”
“That’s not fair,” Porsche complained. “You know how busy I am. I just know what a monster Macau can be, and I wanted to make sure you didn’t need me to step in and handle it. After all, we both know what his brother was like.”
Poking Porsche in the chest, Pete inhaled, which only sharpened his awareness of the nearby pool. “Stop acting like you care. If you knew how Vegas was, you wouldn’t have handed me off to him as soon as I managed to get away. You didn’t even check on me after he died. I will just say this once, Porsche, so you better listen. If you or anyone else tries to hurt Macau or tries to take him from me, I’ll kill you and piss on your grave.”
