It was... pretty obvious when Mario met Paper Mario that they had at least one big difference.
He was paper.
...No, they communicated differently.
Mario spoke, although how clearly he spoke was up for debate... Some might say it just sounded like gibberish...
Paper Mario just kinda... posed around, like a weird form of sign language or something.
And somehow they all understood each other.
Mario asked Paper Mario what about being paper and not being paper could cause them to communicate so differently,
And Paper Mario could only shrug.
...and add that Paper Luigi spoke normal English.
Mario just stared for a second, and concluded that he was better off not asking. It would only hurt their heads.
