Summary
Madeleine watches Claudia dream and takes a peek into her mind, unintentionally unearthing one of the worst traumas her partner has endured in her vampiric life. She tries to aid Claudia in healing and growing past it, often meeting resistance and the cold shoulder in return for her attempts. Throughout all the stonewalling and shutting away, Madeleine comes to know Claudia in new, heartbreaking and even terrifying ways.
Potentially a character study of Claudia, Madeleine and a personally relatable look at how trauma can shut us off from the people we love most, but also how we trauma survivors can choose to protect the bridges and bonds we've built, and to let ourselves blossom to become even better than our pasts.
