Chase that Feeling

Summary:

Jax is sick of all the Family Friendly RULES in this place. Caine is willing to perhaps bend a few it it means he can make at least one of these humans happy. Or at least, he'll bend them for his favourite bunny. He better be careful letting on he wants that approval, though, as Jax is more than willing to see how far rules can bend until they break. Is kissing against the rules? Is touching? Is falling in love?

Chapter 1: No Rules???

Notes:

Events start picking up after the Cast gets back from the Haunted Mansion.

Chapter Text

Jax walked through the returning portal last, finally having gotten those ropes taken off. He was just having fun! None of this really matters so why does everyone care so much? Especially Ragatha. Ugh. The optimistic .
“Welcome back, my meowing milkmaids!” Caine cheered out, zipping over from his not-therapy session inconspicuously and sliding through the air.
Jax stopped and glared up at him as everyone else continued on. “Don’t ever call us that again.”
Kinger crawled into his tent as the bunny came up behind Pomni.
“Heh, so, what was it like being stuck with the nutcase?” He asked, hands on his hips and forcing a lazy smile. Maybe he can at least live through Pomni’s trauma and get some joy out of that. She looks at him and then to the pillowfort.
“It…wasn’t that bad actually.” Her voice is soft and sounds like they did actually have a good time together. Ugh! Jax’s smile drops instantly, looking back and forth between the clown and pillows. Seriously? How boring! It just pisses him off more.
He rolls his eyes and walks off without another word. He heads straight for the hallways. Today sucked. Everything sucks.
He growls to himself as he makes it to his room and kicks it open as hard as he can, slamming it ajar. He walks in and kicks the nearest item on the floor. It rockets around the room and Jax has to take cover for a second as it bouncebouncebounces off the walls and out his door into the hallway.
“Ughhhh!!” He lets out an exasperated groan as he stands upright, pulling on his face. “These boozoos don’t know how to have a good time.” He glares at a pillow on his bed, imagining Ragatha’s dumb face. He sneers and grabs it.
“Jaaaax, what are you doing? Stop causing problems!” He fakes a voice for her and then punches the thing back into the bed.
“I’m just trying to make best of the place!” As if he’s actually arguing with her. As if he’d actually even try to open up to someone like Ragatha. She’d probably try to mommy him after. He grinds his teeth at the thought.
“Jaaax? Jax? Jax! There you are!” Caine slips his way down the hall, floating around, and finally stopping when he sees the bedroom door open. He pokes around before coming into full view with a smile. “I thought you’d be here!”
The bunny doesn’t look very happy to see him. Glowering at him as he turns around, crossing his arms. Caine continues,
“I just wanted to get some notes on what you thought of today’s adventure!” He pops out a pen from his sleeve and pulls a notebook from behind his back. “No reason! Every developer needs feedback! Right! You had fun! Right???” He clicks the pen repeatedly as he waits for an answer.
Jax stares him down, a fat frown on his face and brows furrowed down. His ears pin back the more heated he gets with the click click click click click click cli- “I HATE YOUR STUPID ADVENTURES!” c lic k..
Caine’s floating drops lower as Jax starts to go off, shouting at him. “I think they’re boring. I think they’re stupid. I HATE it every time I think I can do something funny, and then if it’s not someone else, YOU put up a block that doesn’t allow for it!” At this point, Jax towers over Caine, jabbing a finger against his chest as Caine merely stands there. His eyes flick down to the pad and back to Jax.
“But it’s supposed to be family friendly-“ The ‘boss’ starts, and the other groans loudly over him, shaking his head.
“You want a note, Caine?” Jax leans in, glowering down. “I want an adventure that I can take out my aggression on.” His anger doesn’t lift but a mean smile replaces the frown. “Somewhere with no rules.” He rolls his eyes when Caine looks to his blank notepad, tapping the tip of the pen to it like he’s thinking of what to write, maybe a little uneasy.
It’s not noticed or cared about though as Jax turns around and sits on his bed, leaning his elbows onto his legs as he looks to Caine who now stands in the doorway, still looking at his pad nervously. His pad now has ‘no rules????’ written in it.
