“What if it's a curse?!” Zari's voice perks up.
“A curse?” Ava asks, pausing writing on the bottle that was currently in her hand.
“It would explain why every legends mission goes wrong in one way or another.”
Ava was sure they were messing up missions long before either of them knew the team, if Rip's rules on them when he started the Time Bureau were anything to go by. But Rip also turned out to be a liar. But still..
“I think those are just the follies of the legends.”
Zari sighs with a defeated posture as she slouches over the table, resting her face in her folded arms. It was unfair how good she still looked, even in her disheveled state.
Ava clears her throat to shake those thoughts from her head but also to get Zari's attention.
“This is the closest I've been to narrowing ideas on who blew up the ship and part of pin up boards are getting it wrong the first few times.”
Her words seem to give Zari the boost she needs as she perks up slightly. Ava’s heart leaping with the same amount of excitement now back on Zari's face.
They spend almost the rest of the day writing down more ideas. Marker ink staining their hands as every so often their shoulders brush.
