It was Friday afternoon and the clock showed that it was already 4pm, and Jaehyun just let out a heavy sigh as he finally finished packing his clothes and the other stuff into his suitcase for a so-called high school reunion short trip for the upcoming 2 days. He was so focused because he wanted to make sure that there was nothing left behind, until suddenly he heard a sound of a knocking door - followed by a little shout “Papi!” - which Jaehyun immediately knew that it was from his youngest son. “Come in, sweetheart!” Jaehyun shouted back from inside of his room, and those little stomps started to walk closer to Jaehyun.
“Papi, what are you doing?” asked Sion, Jaehyun’s youngest son. The 4 year old boy now sat nicely in front of Jaehyun, curious on what his Papi was doing. “Papi have to pack for tomorrow’s trip, remember?” Jaehyun answered as he caressed Sion’s round cheek, and their moment was interrupted by another shout that called Sion’s name. “Sioniee where are you? You have to tidy up your toys- Papi!” This shout came from Eunseok, Jaehyun’s oldest son. Eunseok hasn't even finished his sentence yet this 5 year old boy already ran towards Jaehyun when he saw his Papi and younger brother together.
As his two sons were now gathered with him, Jaehyun placed both Eunseok and Sion on his lap. “What is it, boys? What did you play outside? Did you guys have fun?” Jaehyun asked and Eunseok was the one who was going to blabber it out. “We played lego but Sionie suddenly ran away and didn’t tidy up his toys, Papi!” Eunseok said and Jaehyun now bopped both Eunseok and Sion’s noses. “Sion sweetheart, remember what Papi said to you that you have to tidy up your toys after playing, and you too, my little dumpling, no need to shout your little brother’s name out loud like that. Okay, boys?” Jaehyun immediately placed a kiss on Eunseok and Sion’s cheeks when both of his sons pouted his lips - followed with a nod after listening to their Papi’s words. “Okay, Papi. Sionie is sorry-” “Seokie too, Papi” Sion and Eunseok took turns to apologize to his Papi.
After his sons apologized, Jaehyun placed both Eunseok and Sion to sit nicely in front of him. “It’s okay, baby-” “Papi do you really have to go tomorrow?” Eunseok suddenly asked, still with his pouty lips, as he didn’t want to let his Papi go for a short trip tomorrow. Jaehyun felt guilty of course for leaving his kids, but deep inside his heart he couldn’t lie that he wanted to meet his high school friends after a long time for once - as they were being separated after their high school graduation - one has accepted to work, one has moving out of the country, and another one has married and have a little family - so maybe this upcoming trip was the only chance Jaehyun had to meet his old friends.
“I’m sorry boys but Papi has to go. Is it okay?” Eunseok and Sion immediately nodded their heads although they were still reluctant to let go of their Papi. “Could Papi ask something from both of you?” “What is it, Papi?” Sion was the one who was curious about his Papi’s request. “Would you promise me to be good boys to Daddy when Papi is away?” Jaehyun requested it from both of his sons. Eunseok and Sion have always loved it when their parents praised them with the words of “good boys” so of course they nodded in unison in agreeing to their Papi’s request. “We will, Papi!” “We promise, Papi!” Eunseok and Sion agreed and it made Jaehyun showed his sweet smile until his dimples clearly appeared as he caressed both of his sons’ heads.
After a while, a great idea suddenly popped up from Jaehyun’s mind, as he thought this would be an interesting and fun things to do by his sons and his husband when he was away. “Papi has an idea! How about we make a list of errands for Daddy? And of course both of you have to help Daddy to finish it. Papi promises it’s only full of fun things, and you’re gonna love it!” Jaehyun said as his sons’ faces started to be more focused on his Papi because they were getting more curious. Jaehyun now stood up to grab a piece of paper and a pen from the table near his bed. “So is there anything you want to do with Daddy tomorrow?” Jaehyun asked. “Seokie just remembered that Miss Sarah asked us to make origami for next week, Papi!-” Eunseok answered first as he remembered that his kindergarten teacher gave him homework for next week's class.
“And Sionie wants to play coloring book with Daddy!” Sion followed his older brother to answer his Papi’s question and Jaehyun let out a loving laugh as he couldn’t hold so much cuteness coming from his sons. Jaehyun also revealed his own idea of a fun thing that he wanted his husband and children do when he was away. “How about both of you are also going grocery shopping with Daddy tomorrow, hmm?-” “Seokie wants strawberries, Papi!” “Sionie wants chocolates too, Papi!” both Eunseok and Sion kept cutting their Papi’s words as they got more excited for tomorrow’s activities with their Daddy, and Jaehyun laughed again with the so much energy given by his sons. “Alright alright boys Papi gets it. Papi will write everything you want to do with Daddy. And one more thing! We have to keep it a secret until Daddy goes home later, okay?” Jaehyun started to put his index finger in front of his mouth, showing a pose of a mouth shut - and his children followed the same pose with him - yes, to keep it a secret from Daddy!
It was nearly dinner time and Jaehyun wondered when his husband would go home until suddenly a sound of a car parking at the house garage was heard - meaning his husband was home from work on time. Eunseok and Sion who were both initially playing with their toys in the living room now ran towards the front door to greet their Daddy. “Daddy!” “Hello, boys!” Johnny greeted his sons back by kneeled his leg to grab both Eunseok and Sion into his arms and kissed their foreheads. “And hello my dear angel. I’m home, sweetheart” Johnny then greeted his husband by kissing Jaehyun’s forehead and lips after putting their sons back down on the floor. “Dinner is ready. Go take a shower first. We’ll wait for you, Daddy” Jaehyun said as he helped Johnny carry his bag and suit. “Daddy hurry up! we're hungry!” Sion shouted which made his Daddy laugh by his action because Sion was seen to put both of his little hands on his stomach. “Oh you have to give Daddy some minutes, little guy!” Sion chuckled when his Daddy suddenly tickled his stomach, and by that Johnny rushed into the bathroom for a quick shower.
Some minutes had passed and the four of them finally gathered at the dining room for dinner. “Wow you cooked so much, baby! Are there any special moments that I have missed?” Johnny said with an amused face as he saw not only two - but five kinds of foods that Jaehyun cooked earlier. Jaehyun just laughed at his husband’s question “No, honey. Nothing happened. Eunseok asked me to cook dumplings, and Sion wanted some sweets so I added some desserts” Jaehyun answered and Johnny should have known already that those are his sons’ favorite foods. “Ah! As expected. Dumplings and sweets as usual. You won’t get bored by eating those so often, will you?” Johnny’s gaze now turned into looking at Eunseok and Sion alternately - also pinched his sons’ round cheeks, which Eunseok and Sion only replied by nodding their heads simultaneously - meaning they would never get bored eating their favorite foods - making his Daddy and Papi laugh in unison.
Dinner went quite well, with a little quarrel from Eunseok and Sion who fought over the last piece of dumpling - which Sion won, and when they were finished, Johnny wanted to stand up leaving the dining table but Jaehyun stopped him. “Wait, Daddy! We have something to give to you” Johnny immediately sat back as he was getting curious about it, and he got more confused when Jaehyun and both of his sons suddenly held their laughter by putting their arms to keep their mouths shut. “What is it? Did you three hide something from Daddy? Hmm?” Johnny asked and his confused face made his sons giggled on their seats. “Hmm actually we did something for you and our boys to do this weekend” Jaehyun was initially hesitant to reveal his plan to Johnny but at the end he gave Johnny the piece of paper which was already filled with the list of errands for his husband to do with his sons when he was away.
Errands for Daddy:
- Help Eunseok to make origami for his homework
- Play coloring book with Sion
- Grocery shopping (Eunseok wants some strawberries, and Sion wants some chocolates)
- Cook lunch & dinner
- Clean the house
Johnny now read the paper slowly and carefully, and suddenly his focused face turned into a shocked one in disbelief about what he just read. “Errands for Daddy? What? Wait, you gotta be kidding me, sweetheart!” Johnny grunted and suddenly pouted his lips. Johnny thought this weekend would only just be a chill and resting time at home with his two sons when his husband was going to leave for a reunion short trip, but nope, it wasn’t as he expected. His husband’s reaction made Jaehyun let out his laughter because he never thought Johnny would be this sulky. Jaehyun then grabbed Johnny’s hand and caressed it. “Honey, suddenly I had this idea and I thought it would be fun and interesting things to do with our sons when I’m away. The kids were also excited earlier, they wanted you to help with their homework, to play together, and to have a quality time with you” Jaehyun finally explained his idea to his husband.
Johnny suddenly was hitted by the reality that Jaehyun was going to leave for a reunion short trip tomorrow - which he almost forgot - and because of that, he was going to be left alone with his two sons at home. Johnny realized that Jaehyun also wouldn’t go without his permission - Jaehyun already told Johnny about his reunion trip far away before and of course Johnny gave him permission so that Jaehyun could have a time to go for a healing. “Daddy! Let’s go grocery shopping tomorrow!-” “Let’s have a good time, Daddy!” Eunseok and Sion shouted alternately with their excited sounds and gestures - which made Johnny wouldn’t dare to not grant his sons’ wishes.
“I’m sorry. I wanted to make a surprise for you. But would you do that for me? Please, honey. Just for this weekend when I’m away” with Jaehyun’s begging words for the sake of him and the kids, of course Johnny wouldn’t dare to say no to his husband. Johnny also thought that it would be a great idea too to have fun things to do with his sons - as he was being so busy lately and couldn’t have a lot of time to play with his beloved kids. Johnny then brought his body close to Jaehyun to kiss his husband’s forehead. “Alright. Okay, sweetheart. I’ll do that. I thought it would be a good idea too” Johnny said and Jaehyun finally could show his relieved and happy smile when his husband finally agreed to his plan. Eunseok and Sion who were initially nervous and scared that their Daddy would be mad at them, now showed happy faces too - followed by their whole excited body reaction which made their parents laugh.
“Now promise to Daddy that you two will be good boys, okay?” Johnny suddenly took turns to look at his sons alternately. Eunseok and Sion nodded and this moment made Jaehyun show his sweet smile. “Thank you, Daddy. Please take care of the boys when Papi is away. And for you two, please be good to Daddy, okay?” Now it was Jaehyun's turn to talk to his sons and said thank you to his husband. “Come here, boys” Johnny then signaled his sons to get closer to him so that the four of them could hug together. With those little stomps, Eunseok and Sion were now walking closer towards their Daddy and Papi. “Papi will miss you so much” Jaehyun said as he kissed his sons’ forehead. Although he was just going to be away for two days, but it felt like a decade as he was never separated from his sons. The four of them now formed a tight hug, Johnny and Jaehyun also showered their sons with so many kisses before Eunseok and Sion went to their own rooms to sleep.
The next morning, Jaehyun was the one who woke up first because he needed to get ready to go to the airport. A while later after he finished preparing everything, Jaehyun tried to pat his husband’s shoulder to wake him up. “Honey. Baby, wake up” Jaehyun tapped Johnny’s shoulder several times until his husband slowly opened his eyes. Johnny shrugged his body, reluctant to wake up. “What time is it?” he asked. “It’s 6am” Jaehyun answered and Johnny suddenly remembered that his husband’s flight was in 4 hours - which forced him to wake up this early.
Jaehyun also felt the same way too, he was reluctant to go but he didn’t want to miss his flight for his awaited trip. Jaehyun then snuggled into Johnny’s hug for comfort, making his husband hug him even tighter while both of them were still lying on their bed. “Do you really have to go now?-” “Honey-” Johnny asked Jaehyun once again whether he has to go this early for his reunion trip and let out a heavy sigh. “Okay okay I’m sorry” Johnny said and he slowly got out of the bed to shower. “I’ll wake the kids up” Jaehyun said and Johnny only responded by a nod before he entered the bathroom.
Eunseok and Sion finally woke up and got ready with the help of their Papi. Although it was still in the early morning, both Eunseok and Sion already had so much energy because they couldn’t hold the excitement to do fun things with their Daddy after dropping off their Papi later at the airport. “Getting excited already, boys?” Jaehyun asked and got a response of a nodding head coming from his sons in unison which made him laugh. “Alright let’s go, sunshines” Jaehyun then led his kids into their car as the four of them were ready to go.
After several minutes, they finally arrived at the airport to drop Jaehyun off. “Passport? Coat? Sunglasses? Is everything ready, baby?” Johnny asked while checking his husband’s stuff. “All is here, honey. Don’t worry” Jaehyun showed his sweet smile and started to hug Johnny tight. “Just 2 days I promise. I’ll go and come back safely. I love you” Jaehyun was finally ready to say goodbye to his husband as he wanted to enter the check-in gate. Johnny then showered Jaehyun with lots of kisses - from his forehead, cheeks, and his lips. “Have a safe flight, okay? Let me know if you’re already landed. I love you so much, sweetheart” Johnny said as he didn’t stop showering his husband with kisses and making their sons giggled.
The sound of Eunseok and Sion’s giggles started to distract Johnny and Jaehyun who were still hugging tight, and Jaehyun finally kneeled down to position his body to be in the same level with his sons’ height. “Be good to Daddy okay, boys? Papi will be back in 2 days. Papi loves you two so much” Jaehyun said as he brought his sons closer to him to hug them tight. Eunseok and Sion then also hugged their Papi tightly and gave their Papi sweet kisses on the cheeks. “Safe flight, Papi!” “We love you so much, Papi!” said Eunseok and Sion alternately, and after they bid farewell, Jaehyun started to walk through the check-in gate and waved at his husband and sons who also waved back at him and sent him hand kisses which made Jaehyun smile sweetly.
Jaehyun finally entered the check-in gate and now only Johnny and his sons left, so Johnny looked at Eunseok and Sion’s eyes while letting out the errands list paper that Jaehyun made for them. “So boys, which list we’re gonna do first?” Johnny asked with a focused face as he acted like a secret agent who was currently doing an important mission and it made Eunseok and Sion laugh. “Grocery shopping, Daddy!” Eunseok was the one who suggested and Johnny thought it would be a great idea because he also needed to buy some ingredients to cook meals for his kids for the next two days. “Nice suggestion, little man! Alright let’s go, boys” Johnny said while brushing Eunseok’s hair as a compliment to his firstborn for suggesting a good idea. Johnny then held Eunseok and Sion’s hand and led the boys to their car to go to a supermarket where his little family oftenly visited.
Grocery shopping has always been the most favorite thing to do for Eunseok and Sion, just like now they started to get excited and ran towards the hallways of the supermarket. ‘This is it. The real mission to take care of these little gremlins starts now’ Johnny thought to himself as he got more cautious, worried that his kids might make any trouble although Johnny knew Eunseok and Sion weren’t that mischievous. “No running, boys!” Johnny warned his sons and the next cute thing he saw was Eunseok and Sion immediately held hands and started to walk slowly together side by side - which made Johnny in awe of his adorable kids.
“Daddy, may Seokie get some strawberries?” “And may Sionie get some chocolates too, Dad?” Eunseok and Sion suddenly turned their bodies to ask their Daddy’s permission to take their favorite food. Johnny then kneeled his leg so that he was on the same height as his kids. “Yes, young men. You can take it. But remember, not too much, okay? Daddy will be at the veggies and meats area so find Daddy there when you two have already finished taking stuff you want to buy. Could you do that, buddies?” Johnny said as he also intentionally tried to test his kids’ bravery to go walking around in the supermarket just by themselves. “Okay, Daddy!” “We want to help you, Daddy!” The answers from Eunseok and Sion made Johnny in awe again - his kids obviously wanted to do the errands together with him. “My smart boys. Go ahead, sunshines” said Johnny letting his kids go.
Johnny stopped at his place for a while to think what he should cook for today and tomorrow’s lunch and dinner, and he suddenly got an idea and started to take all of the ingredients he needed. “We’re done, Daddy!” The sound of Eunseok suddenly startled Johnny when he was still focused on finding the food ingredients. Johnny got even more startled when he saw Eunseok was carrying 3 packs of fresh strawberries and Sion was carrying 2 bars of chocolates - meaning his kids really listened to his words to not take too much food. Those little hands started to put the strawberries and chocolates into the trolley and Johnny finally placed his hand to caress his sons’ heads. “Good job, boys! Both of you are Daddy’s best personal assistants!” The praise from their Daddy made Eunseok and Sion giggled.
Johnny felt relieved that today’s grocery shopping went well without any trouble and they directly got home after that. It was nearly lunchtime so Johnny immediately rushed into the kitchen to prepare and cook for lunch. “Wash your hands and feets first and also change your clothes before you play, okay?” “Okay, Daddy!” “Good boys” Eunseok and Sion immediately walked into their rooms to wash up and change their clothes before playing, and a few minutes after Eunseok and Sion had already changed their clothes into their t-shirts and shorts they usually wore at home. Johnny let out a smile while he was preparing the ingredients for cooking lunch as he was amazed at how his kids could already do so many things by themselves at such a young age. “Do you wanna help Daddy to cook lunch, boys?” Johnny directly got excited nods from both Eunseok and Sion as a response to his question - especially Eunseok who was more interested in cooking with his parents since he was 3 years old.
“Okay, be careful-” Johnny immediately put the knives and the other sharp tools far away from his kids. Since his kids wanted to help him in cooking lunch, Johnny decided to tell Eunseok and Sion to only prepare for their desserts. “Is that correct, Daddy?” Eunseok asked when he tried to pull the leaves out from the strawberries. “Yes, buddy. That’s correct. Good job, little chef!” Johnny complimented his firstborn and patted Eunseok’s head. “How about you, little guy? Oh? Good job, Sionie! You did so well!” Johnny again complimented his youngest son as Sion precisely cut the chocolate bars into perfect little squares. “So Daddy got two little chefs here. Interesting. You got the magic hands from your Papi who is good at cooking!” Eunseok and Sion giggled when their Daddy continuously praised them. “Well done, buddies. Now let Daddy do the rest. Few more minutes and lunch will be ready” Johnny asked his kids to wait for him so Eunseok and Sion now sat nicely at the dining room waiting for their Daddy.
Lunch was finally ready and Eunseok suddenly showed a happy and excited face because his Daddy prepared steamed dumplings for him - his all-time favorite food. Of course the dumplings were coming from the frozen packs one because Johnny wasn’t a great cook like his husband Jaehyun who always cooked everything from scratch - But it didn’t make the dumplings less delicious as Eunseok kept eating it heartily. Johnny also cooked steak - Sion’s favorite food - and Sion also ate his lunch deliciously just like his older brother. Since it was just the three of them, Johnny intentionally cooked his sons’ favorite foods so that Eunseok and Sion wouldn’t be sad because their Papi wasn’t here with them now. “Is it good, boys? Do you like it? Are you happy?” asked Johnny with a loving smile towards his kids. “It’s so good! Thank you, Daddy!” “We’re so happy, Daddy!” said Eunseok and Sion alternately by endlessly moving their bodies as a reaction that their Daddy’s cooking was so delicious and Johnny showed a loving smile again.
Lunch went well, Eunseok and Sion both emptied their plates after they finally finished their desserts, and directly helped their Daddy to wash the dishes. Johnny kept looking at his kids when they went up to the little stairs “Be careful. Don’t spill so much water. Yes, that’s it. Good job, boys” Johnny continuously praised his sons’ for being good boys the entire time and when everything finished they gathered in the living room for a short chill, but Johnny saw that Eunseok and Sion started to get sleepy because they had let out so much energy from the early morning. “Nap time first and let’s do your homework in the afternoon okay, boys?” Johnny then led both Eunseok and Sion into their rooms and placed a forehead kiss before they slept. “Sleep well, my little dumpling-” said Johnny to Eunseok. “Sleep well to you too, my sweet candy” said Johnny to Sion who already fell asleep, and by that Johnny left the kids’ room, then continued to clean the house and then walked into his own room to rest.
Johnny jolted his body in excitement when he saw the notification from his phone coming from Jaehyun, then he positioned himself to sit on the bed and leaned his back to the headboard

“They’re doing so well, sweetheart. Don’t worry, okay?”

“How about we do a video call tonight? The kids must be excited to talk to you”

“I’d love to! I’ll call you tonight. I love you, honey 🥺❤️”
“I love you more. Enjoy your trip, sweetheart ❤️”
Johnny let out a smile after sending messages to Jaehyun but somehow his heart felt heavy - not because he worried about being left alone by Jaehyun, but he worried that Jaehyun might not enjoy his short trip because Jaehyun might be overthink about his sons as this was the first time Jaehyun spending his time alone far away from his kids. Although the distance from Chicago-their house to New York-the place where Jaehyun had a short trip was not so far away, but still, Jaehyun was the type to always prioritize his kids and husband first before anyone else - made him somehow feel guilty to leave them behind just for a short reunion trip. But everything has been going on - Johnny also has given him permission and told Jaehyun not to worry, so Johnny hoped that his husband would enjoy his healing time for a while.
A few hours had passed and suddenly Johnny heard a sound of a knocking door from outside of his room and the little stomps of Eunseok started to walk closer to him. “Good afternoon, young man. Did you have a good nap?” Johnny asked and he grabbed Eunseok to be placed on his lap while Eunseok still rubbed his eyes with his tiny hand. “Yes, Daddy. But Seokie is hungry now” Eunseok said and Johnny let out a laugh because he couldn’t handle the cuteness of his firstborn. “Right. It’s your snack time now, little dumpling. Let’s wake your little brother up first” said Johnny and then he held Eunseok’s hand as they walked together to wake Sion up.
Sion has finally woke up and the kids now gathered in the living room as Johnny gave them a bowl of oatmeal bars and yogurts for his sons’ snack time. As they finished their snack time, both Eunseok and Sion walked back to his rooms to bring their school homework - Eunseok brought a pack of origami papers, and Sion brought his favorite coloring books. “Okay so who wants to do the homework first with Daddy?” Johnny asked. “Seokie first, Daddy!” “No! Sionie first!” “No, Sionie! Me first!-” Eunseok and Sion unexpectedly had a sudden quarrel and Johnny immediately separated his sons apart - avoiding the further worse quarrel or even collision. “Wow wow wow no fighting, boys! Or Daddy won’t help both of you” The words of their Daddy suddenly made Eunseok and Sion freeze on their spots. “Say sorry first to each other, guys” Johnny said again asking his sons’ to apologize, made Eunseok and Sion finally hugged and said sorry.
Johnny then placed Eunseok to his left side, and Sion to his right side. “Both of you can do your homework together and Daddy will help you if you need something. But next time, don’t fight like that, okay?” Johnny warned his kids again, so Eunseok and Sion nodded in unison. “Yes, Daddy. We’re sorry” “It’s okay. Let’s play now, buddies” Johnny started to open the pack of Eunseok’s origami paper and also Sion’s coloring book. “What shape of origami do you want Daddy to make, little dumpling?” Johnny asked Eunseok first. “Cats, Daddy! Seokie wants cats!-” “Cats? Okay let’s try it” Johnny then grabbed his iPad to browse a video tutorial on making cat origami to help his firstborn’s homework.
“Daddy, what color should Sionie put on this?” Sion asked from the other side, asking his Daddy the perfect colors to fill the still-blank coloring sheet. Johnny now looked at his youngest son who was currently choosing a coloring book for animals and was coloring the sheet of a lion. “A lion should be the color of brown, sweetheart. But you can also add the colors of orange and yellow too. Like this-” Johnny then grabbed some crayons with the colors of brown, orange, and yellow to show his youngest son how to make a gradation color. Sion immediately felt amazed at how good his Daddy was at coloring. “That is so cool, Daddy! Sionie wants to try!” “Here, sweetypie” Johnny finally gave Sion the crayons so that his youngest son could continue coloring his book by himself.
Johnny and his two sons kept playing together and finishing Eunseok’s homework until the sun was nearly set - meaning Eunseok and Sion had to go shower and followed by dinner time with their Daddy. Today’s dinner was quite simple because Eunseok and Sion wanted their Daddy to cook them kimchi fried rice and some scrambled eggs - which were very easy to make. Johnny let out a sweet smile again just like today’s lunch when his sons ate their dinner heartily and thought that today they had a very great day, from dropping Jaehyun off at the airport, went grocery shopping, cooked lunch together, and also played together. “Are you happy, boys? How does it feel to have a quality time the whole day only with Daddy? Hmm?” Johnny asked as he was curious about his sons’ feelings about today’s activities.
“Seokie is so happy, Daddy! Seokie is happy because Daddy could make Seokie 3 cats origami” Eunseok was the one who let out his feelings first by showing his little hands making the number of 3 towards his Daddy. “Daddy also bought Seokie strawberries and cooked Seokie dumplings. Thank you, Daddy!” Eunseok said again and Johnny suddenly felt so touched by his firstborn who was happy and said thank you to him. “You’re welcome, little man. Daddy is so happy too! How about you, Sion?” Johnny then looked at his youngest son to ask the same question. “Sionie is happy too, Daddy! Sionie is happy because Daddy helped Sionie play coloring” Sion also let out the same happy reaction just like his older brother. “But Sionie misses Papi so much-” Sion suddenly sighed and pouted his lips as he felt sad because he missed his Papi very much.
Sion’s unexpected change from happy to sad reaction made Johnny feel that this was the right time to do a video call with his husband - Johnny had guessed and even anticipated that his sons, especially Sion who was very much close and attached to Jaehyun, would miss his Papi very much. “Aww don’t be sad, sweetypie. How about we do a video call with Papi now? Sounds like a good idea?” Johnny tried to coax Sion so that his youngest son wouldn’t feel sad anymore. And Johnny was right, Sion suddenly felt excited again after hearing his Daddy’s words. “Let’s go, Daddy! Let’s call Papi now!” shouted Sion in excitement and made Johnny laugh. “Alright, sweetheart. Let’s go, boys!” Johnny then led his sons to the living room so that the three of them had the cozy and comfortable position to do a video call with Jaehyun.
Johnny was the one who finally dialed Jaehyun and not even a minute Jaehyun answered the video call - showing himself that he was already lying on the bed of his hotel room alone. “Papi!!” shouted Eunseok and Sion in unison when they greeted their Papi from the screen, also by waving their hands in excitement. Jaehyun at the other side also showed his wide smile because he already missed his sons very much too. “Hello, boys! How are you doing? Did you have fun with Daddy today?” Jaehyun asked and unexpectedly a little quarrel happened again as Eunseok and Sion fought on who was going to tell their stories first. “Boys! Remember what Daddy said earlier today? No fighting!” Johnny warned his kids again but now with his strict tone making Eunseok and Sion froze again on their spots - and Jaehyun at the other side also tried to hold his laughter while looking at his husband’s frustrated expression in handling their kids alone. Johnny then let out a heavy sigh when Eunseok and Sion suddenly laughed like nothing happened - and this situation made Jaehyun bursted into laughter.
“One by one, sunshines. Seokie first, then Sionie after” Jaehyun was the one who calmed their kids down. “Papi! Seokie is so happy because Daddy could make cat origami and Daddy bought Seokie strawberries and cooked Seokie dumplings!” “Sionie too, Papi! Sionie is so happy because Daddy bought Sionie chocolates and played coloring together with Sionie” Eunseok and Sion alternately finally told their story and their happy feelings on spending time with their Daddy. Johnny also didn’t want to lose with his sons by telling his stories too. “Eunseok and Sion are so smart, sweetheart. They already could stroll around the supermarket by themselves, and they helped me in preparing lunch and washing the dishes. They also did well on doing their homework, Seokie is so fast in copying me making the origami, and Sionie now could make a gradation color with his crayons. Daddy and Papi’s smart boys” said Johnny and now brought his sons closer into his lap, kissing Eunseok and Sion’s cheeks alternately making his kids giggled.
Johnny and their sons successfully made Jaehyun in awe of how many things his kids could do in one day. “Really? Good job, little men. My babies are doing so well. Papi is so proud of you two, sweetheart” Jaehyun started to praise his kids as they were being good boys with their Daddy the entire day. Jaehyun felt relieved that his idea to give a list of errands for his husband and his kids went so well, that Johnny, Eunseok, and Sion were all having a great time spending quality time together. Not gonna lie, it made Jaehyun miss his kids even more. “We miss you so much, Papi!” Sion said and his youngest son’s words made Jaehyun want to cry - he didn’t expect that it would be this hard to be away from his kids, even it was just for 2 days. “Papi misses you too, babies” said Jaehyun tried so hard to hold his tears.
“How was your day, sweetheart? Did you have fun? Did you enjoy the reunion?” Now it was time for Johnny to ask his husband about his day in New York. “I did. I’ll tell you everything later when I get home okay, honey?” by Jaehyun’s words and expression shown from the phone screen, Johnny could feel there was something wrong that Jaehyun tried to hide from him, and because their kids were still there, Johnny decided to let his worries pass. He only hoped that Jaehyun wouldn’t feel sad or hurt by something there when they were apart. “Alright, sweetheart. Let me know if you wanna say something. My phone will always be online for you” “I know, honey. Thank you” Jaehyun said with a simple smile. “Alright boys it’s 10pm already. Let’s go to sleep?” Jaehyun was the one who reminded his sons to go to sleep because it was already late. “Good night, Papi! We love you so much!” said Eunseok and Sion in unison - followed by throwing many hand kisses to their Papi from the screen. “Good night, sweetypies! Papi loves you too!” Jaehyun said and by that their video call has finally ended.
Johnny could see that Eunseok and Sion already felt sleepy so he held his sons’ hands to go to their rooms. Johnny also realized that he already had done all of the errands on the list that was made by his husband, as well as Eunseok and Sion were being good boys for the entire day by helping him in finishing all of the errands. Johnny then suddenly kneeled down to look at his sons’ faces before they went to sleep. “Look, we have done all of the errands that Papi asked us. We're a good team, aren’t we?” Johnny said and showed the errands list paper to his sons’ so Eunseok and Sion could know that they were doing a very good job with their Daddy today.
“Since both of you were being good boys to Daddy today, Daddy wants to give you a reward. How about we go to the park and play ball tomorrow morning? And after that we will have lunch at the mall and Daddy allows you to play arcade games. Sounds fun, isn’t it?” Eunseok and Sion immediately responded their Daddy’s words by happy jumps and loud screams. “Yeayy thank you, Daddy! We love you so much” Eunseok and Sion shouted simultaneously and kept jumping at their spots near their bed, followed by hugging their Daddy tightly. Johnny also showered his kids with so many kisses until Eunseok and Sion giggled. “You’re welcome, little munchkins. Daddy loves both of you too. Good night, boys” Johnny said as he placed Eunseok and Sion to bed and turned off his kids’ rooms' lamps.
On the other hand, It was already 11pm in New York and Jaehyun had already rested in his hotel room after spending the whole day with his high school friends. And after did a video call with his husband and kids, the mixed feelings in his heart suddenly arose. Jaehyun’s feelings haven't been really well since he met his high school friends earlier today after he landed in New York. The so-called high school short reunion trip wasn’t going nice as he expected. Most of his friends were changed now, as they grew older and had their respective spouses - married and already had kids, they started to compare each other’s lives, even they would talk trashy things behind their friends who couldn’t attend this short trip. Jaehyun never expected that the vibe and ambience of this reunion would be this toxic which made him so uncomfortable. Without thinking any longer, Jaehyun decided to go home early by booking the earliest flight tomorrow - which happened to be at 4am, so Jaehyun needed to pack his stuff and rest early so he wouldn’t miss his early morning flight.
After a few hours, Jaehyun has finally landed back in Chicago. It was 6am now and Jaehyun directly went home. Johnny and his kids didn’t know at all that Jaehyun would go home on Sunday morning - because Jaehyun was supposed to go home on Monday. Arriving at his house, Jaehyun hadn't heard any noises and it was so quiet, meaning that Johnny and his kids were still sleeping as the three of them had done so many activities yesterday. Jaehyun slowly opened the front door and felt touched as he saw his entire house was so neat and clean - assuming that his husband was the one who cleaned it all, just like he asked on the errands list.
Jaehyun now slowly entered his own room and he could see Johnny was still sleeping under the blanket. Jaehyun walked so slowly and made sure he didn’t make any noise - afraid that it would wake his husband up. Jaehyun wanted to kiss his husband’s forehead but he was hesitant, but in the end he finally did it. Jaehyun’s forehead kiss to Johnny turned out making Johnny shrug his body as he felt a movement in his face. Johnny then tried to turn his body to the other side and slowly opened his eyes. “Baby? Wait, why are you here now? When did you-” Johnny who was shocked in disbelief even hasn’t finished his sentence yet Jaehyun already hugged him tight. Johnny felt his husband’s hug like Jaehyun was seeking some comfort from him, and Johnny immediately hugged Jaehyun even tighter - once he also rubbed Jaehyun’s back to comfort his husband.
“Baby, are you okay? What happened, sweetheart?” Jaehyun could feel Johnny was panicked by his sudden action for going home earlier than expected. Johnny was really worried - even Jaehyun could feel Johnny’s heart beat a lot faster as Johnny was scared something bad had happened to Jaehyun. “Baby-” “I’m fine, honey” “No, you’re not. What is it? What happened?” Johnny kept asking Jaehyun if his husband was okay and Jaehyun finally let out a heavy sigh as he wanted to tell Johnny about everything. “It was so bad. The reunion wasn’t going as nice as I expected. They were very toxic, honey. They kept comparing things and even talked trashy things behind the one who couldn’t come on this trip. I didn’t expect them to become like this. I didn’t feel comfortable at all around them. So I decided to go back home early and took the earliest flight to Chicago to meet you and our kids. I felt like I just made the biggest mistake of agreeing to join that useless reunion and leaving you and our kids alone. I was so stupid. That was my biggest regret, honey. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier about this. I’m sorry, Johnny” Jaehyun finally let out everything he felt.
Johnny finally understood and the bad feelings about Jaehyun he felt earlier turned out to be true - his husband didn’t enjoy the trip because something bad happened there. Johnny then hugged Jaehyun again tightly, and now showered his husband with lots of kisses on the crown of Jaehyun’s head, forehead, and lips to give Jaehyun comfort. “No need to say sorry, sweetheart. I’m glad that you landed and got home safely. That’s the most important thing” Johnny tried to coax Jaehyun who was still snuggling in his embrace. “And no you’re not stupid. No one knew the reunion would turn out to be like that, right? It's not your fault, baby. It’s okay” Johnny tried to give Jaehyun comfort once again by saying it wasn’t Jaehyun’s fault for leaving him and their kids alone.
“We can go for a family trip next time instead, just the four of us, you, me, and our kids. Let me manage my schedules at the office first so I can decide when we could go. Sounds like a nice idea, sweetheart?” Johnny suddenly suggested that the four of them should go for a family trip someday. Jaehyun now slowly showed his sweet smile until both of his dimples formed perfectly, and nodded to his husband’s words in agreement. “I’d love that! The kids would be so happy too!” “I know, baby. I know” both Johnny and Jaehyun let out a giggle as they could imagine how happy Eunseok and Sion would be if they were going on a vacation with their parents. “Don’t think about that reunion again, my love. They really didn’t deserve you” said Johnny while caressing Jaehyun’s cheeks and closing his body to give Jaehyun a couple of pecks on the lips. “Right. You’re right, honey. I shouldn’t have gone to that reunion in the first place though” Jaehyun still had a regretful feeling in his heart but Johnny was successfully able to remove it little by little. Johnny was right. They weren’t worth it to think about.
Still being inside of his husband’s embrace, Jaehyun slowly stroked Johnny’s messy wake-up hair, placed it to the side so that Jaehyun could see Johnny clearly with his eyes. “You looked so tired. I was giving you a hard time to take care of our kids alone and doing all of the errands I gave you, wasn’t I?” Jaehyun asked as he was also worried because Johnny looked kind of exhausted. Johnny just laughed and gave Jaehyun a couple of pecks on the lips again. “No, baby. I’m not tired. The kids were being good with me, except those little quarrels, but they already said sorry to each other after that. Our kids are so smart, love” Johnny gave his sons’ a praise when he told Jaehyun about what they did yesterday. “They kept helping me do the errands, and did their homework really well. I’m so proud of them” said Johnny again and Jaehyun suddenly felt touched on how his husband really took care of their kids really well.
“The house is neat and clean too. Thank you so much, Daddy. Thank you for taking care of our kids well and also for cleaning everything. You’re the best husband and Daddy ever” Jaehyun then gave his husband a compliment. “I was kinda worried at first because it was my first time going alone for a trip after we had kids. But I shouldn’t have been worried because I have the best husband like you” Jaehyun showered Johnny with another compliment and Johnny hugged him tight again - not forgetting the kisses as well. The pecks suddenly changed into a slow and intimate kiss as Johnny tried to caress Jaehyun’s cheeks and brought it closer towards him - to devour him all. Jaehyun was the one who broke the kiss between them after a while to take a breath. “Later at night, Daddy. I promise. The kids might wake up soon” Jaehyun said. “Oh I’m more than happy with that. Be ready tonight, sweetheart” both of them then let out a giggle, especially Jaehyun who laughed a bit harder as he saw his husband’s reaction who couldn’t wait to devour him tonight.
Their morning cuddle session suddenly got interrupted when both Johnny and Jaehyun heard the sound of their door open, turned out to be Eunseok and Sion who were still sleepy but held hands and slowly walked towards their Daddy. “Hide under the blanket, baby. Quick!” Johnny whispered to Jaehyun because he wanted to make a surprise for their kids and Jaehyun quickly hid himself under the blanket as he understood his husband’s mind that this surprise was for their sons. Johnny then placed Eunseok and Sion one by one on his lap as he now sat on the bed and leaned by the headboard - giving a morning kiss to Eunseok and Sion alternately. “Good morning, sunshines! Did you two have a good sleep?” Johnny asked and both of his sons nodded in unison although they kept rubbing his eyes as they were still sleepy and tired because of the fun activities they did yesterday.
“Yes, Daddy. But we can’t wait to go to the park and play ball!” Eunseok said. Johnny then laughed as his kids remembered his promise last night to bring them play to the park. Jaehyun who listened to his husband and sons’ conversation from under the blanket, thought this would be the right time to surprise his sons. “Boo!” “Papi!!!” Eunseok and Sion screamed so loud as they were very surprised when Jaehyun suddenly appeared from under the blanket. “Papiii!!” Without waiting any longer, Eunseok and Sion immediately hugged their Papi tightly and Jaehyun showered them with kisses. “Good morning, babies! Surprise! Papi is home!” Jaehyun said and didn’t want to let go of his sons’ hug. “Yay Papi is home! Daddy, let's go to the park with Papi! The four of us!” Sion jumped in excitement at his place because he was so happy that his Papi was finally home. “Ask Papi first if Papi is tired or not after a morning flight, sweetypie” Johnny said to Sion as he wanted to make sure about his husband’s condition but Jaehyun immediately shaked his head. “I’m okay, honey. I won’t be tired if it’s for our sons. Right, boys?” Jaehyun convinced his husband that he was okay and not tired, then bopped his sons’ nose, and the kids giggled.
“Alright. Let’s get ready, sunshines!” Jaehyun was the one who held his sons’ hands to get ready. “No morning hugs?” asked Johnny, making Jaehyun and his sons freeze on their spot as they almost forgot to do a morning hug just like what they did every morning. Eunseok and Sion let out a loud giggle and now ran towards their Daddy and gave their Daddy a tight hug. “Papi too! Let’s hug, Papi!” Eunseok called Jaehyun to be closer to them for a morning hug. “Thank you for everything yesterday, Daddy! For taking care of Seokie and Sionie so well when Papi was away. We love you so much!” Jaehyun talked first on their hug and it made Eunseok and Sion hug their Daddy even tighter. “Thank you, Daddy! Seokie loves you so much!” “Sionie loves Daddy too! So much!” The endless amount of love confessions from his husband and sons made Johnny’s heart felt so touched and full of love then started to kiss Jaehyun, Eunseok, and Sion’s foreheads alternately. “You’re more than welcome, sunshines. Daddy will do anything for the three of you. Daddy loves you so much. Always” Johnny said.
They hugged and cuddled more for some minutes until Jaehyun asked his sons to get ready to go to the park, and prepared some to-go breakfasts when Jaehyun suddenly got an idea that the four of them should do a little picnic at the park as well - and of course his husband and sons immediately agreed. They didn’t spend much time to get ready, and after several minutes they finally arrived at the park. Jaehyun was the one who placed the picnic mat on the grass and took the food out of the bag, meanwhile Johnny and his sons were already at the field area to play basketball - his husband’s all-time favorite sports which also turned out to be Eunseok and Sion’s favorite sports too.
“Dribble the ball then pass it to Daddy, Seokie! Yes, that’s right! Good job, little dumpling!-” “Sionie too! Jump higher, sweetypie! That’s it! Well done, cotton candy! That’s how you play basketball, boys!” Jaehyun heard Johnny’s shouts and cheers to their sons when his husband taught Eunseok and Sion how to play basketball. Jaehyun slowly showed his sweet smile. He realized that spending his time with his little family was very much more worth it than joining that useless reunion trip - although Jaehyun thought he also needed some time alone to heal, maybe he could go somewhere else next time. Jaehyun also realized that by giving a list of errands for his husband and sons while he was away, he could prove to himself that he really chose the right person to be his best life partner and to be the best father figure of his kids. Falling in love with Johnny was the best decision ever in his life - making him wanted to spend the rest of his life with Johnny and both of their sons - Eunseok and Sion. Just the four of them. Forever and always.
