I also found some additional resources about Tearza that I think you might find rather enlightening after our discussion. Maybe you will realize that a woman did successfully lead Speer for several decades before The Red Emperor ever involved himself with Speerly politics. And maybe you will realize that if The Red Emperor never came to the island and essentially forced the Speerly people to become weapons for Nikan, then there never would have been a genocide of Speer.

Class,
I hope by now you and your partner have met and decided on final topics for your projects. Reminder that this is 50% of your final grade. This is not something that you can start the night before, let alone the week before, the due date. I expect primary and secondary sources. Extra credit will be given to groups that take the time to gather sources in person via museum tours, talking directly with historians, or reaching out and interviewing journalists. Nezha,
I know you didn't quite believe me that the statue across from The Red Emperor wasn't The Winter Empress, but was instead actually Mai'rinnen Tearza. But look at these pictures. The Winter Empress died young, sad. Her face is famous for her arched eyebrows, and the statues are too flat. Also, look around her neck. That necklace is a Speerly necklace. You can see Tearza wear the EXACT SAME NECKLACE in this picture I found in one of Hanelai's books I borrowed! The Nikan History Museum mislabeled the statue, erasing Tearza's and The Red Emperor's relationship.
