Work Text:
"Finally a break.", Larry spoke as he pushed open the door to one of the museum's offices before he stepped inside. The nightguard turned on the light, making the lamp that hung from the ceiling in the middle of the room coat everything in a warm white.
Following Larry, Ahkmenrah stepped into the room as well, keeping the door open to be able to notice a possible emergency or something similar better. A sympathetic smile made itself shown on the pharaoh's face to the nightguard's words.
Meanwhile, the latter walked over to the table in the middle of the room. Various papers and documents were scattered all over its wooden surface. Remains from the last nights for which the nightguard couldn't find the time to put them away yet.
He swiftly rummaged through the pages and piled some of them up in his hand. "I'm sorry that we didn't really have time the last nights..."
The exhibits, as well as Larry, just came back from the British museum. Just - that was a night ago. The return brought a load of organizing with it, alongside the nightly routines that were already there.
Although Larry was still occupied with tidying, Ahkmenrah knew that the nightguard referred to their personal time together rather than the documents. In the last days and especially in the British Museum, they not only tried to be inconspicious in front of the new exhibits but also had to focus on other things which didn't leave much time for just the two of them.
Ahkmenrah turned away from the shelf on which he just fixed and viewed a few things like a globe and some books and then turned towards the other. "It's okay. We do now."
The nightguard put the few papers that he held in his hands into a drawer and then made his way towards the couch before sitting down on it.
The big windows behind the couch, built in the Museum's stone fassade let in a faint light from the street lanterns and some occasionally passing cars in the otherwise dark winter night and added to the warm yellow light in the room, bringing out its mostly wooden brown color.
Larry loosened his tie and unbottened the upper botton on his shirt. Ahkmenrah's gaze fell on the nightguard and immediately fixated on him. The pharaoh watched every move Larry made. How his hands opened the knot of his tie rather slowly, probably due to him being a bit exhausted, and how despite that he was still so gentle with it. Then how he opened the button of his shirt in just the same manner. Somehow the pharaoh just wasn't able to look anywhere else in this moments, fixing his whole focus on the nightguard and not even noticing that he started to slightly bite his lip.
When Larry was done, he noticed the pharaoh's presence still in front of him and raised his head to look at the latter. He frowned in confusion. "Do you want to sit down?"
Ahkmenrah's gaze flicked towards the other's face, shaken from his thoughts. "Y-yes. Of course. Larry.", he uttered and smiled shakily before he approached the other. The soft couch underneath him was a nice variety to the sarcophagus when he sat down and Larry didn't waste a minute to put his arm around the pharaoh.
The nightguard's hand moved down to Ahkmenrah's arm and he started to move his fingertips over the skin there. The touch was very gentle, his hand nearly levitating over Ahkmenrah's arm, slowly moving up and down. But the touches didn't fail to sent shivers throughout Ahkmenrah's body and tingles throughout his chest all the same.
It wasn't just because Larry was the only one that was ever as close to Ahkmenrah as this. The pharaoh knew that it was because it was...him. The nightguard made him feel something he'd never felt for anyone before. Something he'd never even anticipated or looked forward to feel in the many years of his existence. Until this all changed when Larry came to the museum and made him feel completely new things. And the nightguard didn't even have to try.
Some minutes later, Larry took his other hand and laid it down on Ahkmenrah's. The latter turned his own around so that they could hold hands properly.
Ahkmenrah then moved closer to Larry and leaned himself against him, feeling the warmth of the nightguard's body heat against his own. "I've missed this...", he confessed. His voice was quiet to not disturb the atmosphere that currently prevailed in the quiet room and surrounded them.
"Me too.", Larry agreed just as silently, but his voice still carried his words' sincerity perfectly. "I've missed this too..."
Ahkmenrah smiled at him and Larry's eyes found his own. They stayed there for a moment, deep eyes looking into deep eyes. Neither was it clear if it was due to the rather dim light or something else nor whose eyes were deeper at that moment, but there was hardly any time finding out, because Larry's eyes started to slowly wander down. They went further and further until they stopped on Ahkmenrah's lips.
Just a few seconds went by, the nightguard lifted one arm to put his hand on the other's cheek and closed his eyes. He leaned in slowly and finally put a kiss on Ahkmenrah's mouth.
It took Ahkmenrah a few moments of finding out what Larry planned to do, but at latest with the kiss it was more than clear. The pharaoh smiled into it and immediately reciprocated.
It was a soft and gentle contact, the chaos that was probably going on outside shifting into the background for the few moments that it lasted before they parted again.
Larry gazed up and then put his hands on Ahkmenrah's headpiece. "Can I...remove this?"
"Yes.", the pharaoh voiced his answer.
Thus, Larry cautiously lifted the golden piece on Ahkmenrah's head and took it off, then bend forward to be able to put it on the table. When he sat back on the couch, he turned a bit to the side, facing Ahkmenrah. He once again put his hand on the side of the pharaoh's face and kissed him.
It was soft again at first, just their lips resting on each other's, sending tingles through these which continued to spread through their whole bodies. But soon, they started to move against each other's mouths in a demand of even more contact, simultaneously not breaking the gentleness of it all.
Then the tip of Larry's tongue grazed over Ahkmenrah's lips, catching him off guard and making the pharaoh's breath hitch, not expecting it at that moment.
As therefore Ahkmenrah deepened the kiss with a sigh, a content noise escaping his mouth, the pharaoh also turned his body more towards the other and slowly pushed him further down, so that he laid half on top of Larry.
He held onto the collar of the nightguard's shirt with one hand while not breaking the kiss and Larry began to gently stroke over the exposed part of Ahkmenrah's chest, even though he couldn't manage better than rather sloppy as his mind was racing.
The mixture of the tenderness that was still between them and in how soft Ahkmenrah's skin felt under his hands (something that had always amazed Larry) and the force Ahkmenrah seemed to have when he was so close, was overwhelming. Larry could swear Ahkmenrah smelled like ancient Egypt itself. Divine. And just so unique. The strength that emanated from the pharaoh when he hovered over himself like that instantly had his head thinking about nothing but Ahkmenrah.
Nevertheless, they were both still aware of their surroundings and thus stopped a few minutes later.
Ahkmenrah supported himself on his hands when he moved back up and looked down into the other's eyes which immediately got fixated on his own. "I love you, Larry Daley. Guardian of Brooklyn.", he pronounced.
Larry had to do a lot to be able to function with the other's gaze on him like that, his eyes even deeper than they had been before. But he wasn't new to this anymore -to have to focus on his work when Ahkmenrah stole his attention, distracted him- and managed to get himself together this time too. He let out a breath he wasn't aware of holding in. "I love you too, Ahk."
The pharaoh smiled broadly before he laid himself back down on the other's chest for as long as they had left this night.
