Work Text:
The sun surrounded the field with its now warm orange rays, indicating the moon is about to raise in the sky. They enjoyed their time together in the middle of the field, Spelldon leaned a carpet over the grass under a tree, so both could have a pretty picnic just the two alone, in the nature.
Together, they had conversations about various things, eating snacks, and just having a nice time the both alone, away from the loud environment of Monster High, and in between a conversation, suddenly, Valentine's alarm ringed on his icoffin.
"Oh, my pills, sorry." The vampire inmediatly searched through his bag for his medication.
"It's okay." Calmly said Spelldon who was laying on the carpet, hands behind his head, chilling.
The vampire took his anti-depressants and swallowed them with a bottle of water, he used to take them with blood, but since volunteering in the animal shelter, he became a vegetarian with the help of Draculaura to find other replaces of the nutrients blood gave him, even if emotions where his main source of nourishment, he still needed other options.
He gave a long sigh, admiring the beauty of the evening in the field, surrounded by trees, shrubbery, flowers and grass mainly. Then Spelldon looked up at him, admiring the beauty of the vampire instead without him noticing, getting his attention once he asked. "Weren't those meds you said you'll stop taking?"
Valentine looked back down at the witch, a bit taken aback by the sudden subject of conversation. "Oh, yeah, next visit with my psychiatrist i'm starting on mood stabilizers."
Spelldon chuckled softly. "Seems fitting for an emotional vampire."
The vampire rolled eyes with a small grin. "I don't think all emotional vampires are stupidly broken."
Then the witch answered in that calm voice. "I don't think you're stupidly broken, you've pass through shit and that's not stupid."
Valentine chuckled bitterly and looked away. "I didn't meant it like that love, but... It is kinda stupid all the trauma and what came with it."
There was a frail silence in between them, Spelldon readed through the lines carefully, since he had a way of taking things literal, he took time now to catch what his boyfriend really wanted to say and what could have been said not too literal, the witch knew the subject started to become hard for the vampire, but he knew his vampire needed time and comfort to let go that heavy shit inside him, he wouldn't force this conversation.
"It's not your fault."
The vampire scoffed. "I still did harm and stupid shit." Clenched his fists. "I'll never forgive myself for that... I'm so-."
"Valentine." Said firm Spelldon stopping his vampire from spiraling. His gaze went from Kieran to back up in the sky, so calm, serene, as always, it made Kieran envious of how chill his boyfriend is while he's so overly emotional. "Can i open up to you? Like you open up to me."
He instantly nodded, listening and being supporting to his handsome witch? Of course Valentine will say yes. "Of course you can, it's... The bare minimun."
Spelldon nodded back. "Yeah, it is." He smiled. He had work so much to were he is now, and his hisstory of life was hard in a way, but he always focused on living in the present, without worrying still about what he has done and feeling guilt, he can talk about it normally now. His hisstory of self improvement. "It's a long story but i know you're gonna like it."
"Tell me!" Valentine threw himself beside the witch lying face down, excitedly waiting for the story to be told.
"Fine fine."

Spelldon lived his inmortal life not like a normal monster teenager, he got to grow up in his mother's island, his childhood was happy, surrounded by the love of his mother, sister and his mother's nymphs, playing, running around, conjouring spells and learning witchcraft, he could run around in the woods naked and nobody will have a problem with that. But everything took a wild turn when his sister rose to fame.
He was always a protective brother, growing with his sister being his only best friend, he obviously need to protect her, and he was aware of how dangerous fame can get, how celebrities behind that mask can be the worst monsters you've ever known, he didn't want anything bad to happen to his sister.
That's why they always stuck by the hip, going on tours together, working together, partying together, everything together, Spelldon was there to help and protect his sister even if she got annoyed at him.
Even when his life fell apart.
One day when his sister just rosed to fame they were (well, just his sister, but they come in pack) first invited to a celebrity party, and Spelldon knew he must be on alert of everything that could happen to Casta.
But he never cared what could happen to him.
In the party, Spelldon wanted to fit in, but he rarely fit in by begin with, his ways of sociallization weren't what monsters commonly expected, he had his own ways that only a few could get, to not say he's socially awkward, but as a common teenager he wanted to fit with the ones his age, he wanted friends.
While he was apart from his sister in the overwhelming lights and music, close to the bar, the witch found a group of three monsters that wanted something to do with him, that was enough, they started a nice conversation and appeared to be very friendly.
And then, they asked if he wanted to pass a good time, to finally find a way to be part of the group, to be part of something.
He obviously said yes, without thinking twice, but nervous about it, he accepted to try drugs for the first time, this was his moment to finally step away from the comfort of what he always knew, he didn't wanted to feel like the loner that came from an island, the trip of the drugs made him feel like a normal monster for the first time, being part of the cool guys, and he went high all the rest of the party.
That was just the first time, a first time he thought was just gonna stay for party's, to pass a good time, just a few times. He couldn't shake away how good he felt, his body screamed for that nice feeling that consumed him at the party, and that way those few times started to become some days a month, then every weekend, then every time he started to feel bad, then everyday.
He fell into active addiction, and everything started to become worse as he got lost into the substances, as he lost his mind for the desire to feel like a common teenager.
His grades started getting worse, his friends were all addicted or drug dealers, his family was worried for him as discussions started to become frecuent day to day for him to stop using.
Drugs ruined his life, his psyche, his body, what was a collected serious teenager, now was a moody high on drugs teenager, what was once his growing muscles, it became just mass on his slender body, the pure look of addiction.
Spelldon still remember those posts that blamed Casta for his addiction, that used him to insult her, that used to directly insult him, pitying him and disgusted by his addiction. He never got someone to understand, he just got blamed, that he deserved everything that happened because he accepted to use drugs.
But he didn't just accepted drugs, he accepted a escape, a supposed good time, to fit in, he thought he accepted a nice group of friends.
It was supposed to be just a few, few times, not stepping directly at the entrance of hell.
At first, after all the fights and disgrace, he reluctantly accepted starting to attend those groups of anonymous alcoholics, thinking he was just gonna go and keep using, to appear sober.
That was his first idea.
But the times he saw his mother and sister crying, the discussions, how they begged for him to stop using, the times his sister took him out of jail because her heart couldn't bear seeing her little brother like that, how his life got ruined. It was enough.
And there was no excuses now.
He went to therapy, he went to the hospital to endure the agonic symptoms of withdrawal, it was a long, long process.
Even relapsed two times, and he felt like shit for that.
But he stand up and did it again, bear the pain, he started the process again trying to become clean, he thankfully didn't do it alone, his mother and sister got his back every step.
And he is clean now, after a long exhausting battle, he became clean.
He did shit, he was a shit, but he became better for himself, for his family and the monsters around him.

Valentine listened attentively, surprised, he knew Spelldon had a past with substance use, but he never heared it by his own mouth and he was stunned, hearing it by Spelldon himself, it was much more meaningful, much more inspiring.
"We've done stupid shit, but we fixed it and that's cool." He seriously said, his gaze lost in the sky.
Then, the vampire threw himself to his chest taking out the witch's breath, Valentine hugged him tight and Spelldon let himself enjoy the closeness. "You always know what to say."
"That's not true, i'm socially awkward." His tone was stoic even when joking.
Kieran giggled. "Well, i love that about you." He relaxed himself on his boyfriend chest, listening to his heartbeat. "You fought hard to heal, and i'll fight too, for you."
The witch finger gently posed on his lips. "No, heal for you, then care about the rest." His hand caressed his cheek now. "That's how it is."
A smile appeared on his pink lips. "I know, i'm already doing my best to heal for me and for us." Then scoffs as he remember how he needs a psyquiatrist, psychologist, neurologist and a occupational therapist, along with meds, for all this process. "Even when the process is so freaking expensive."
Spelldon chuckled. "It was expensive for me too love, but i know you can do it too." His hand went up the vampire cheek to start playing with his pointy ear. "I'll be by your side all the way, nobody should heal alone."
Valentine relaxed on his boyfriend's chest, letting out a sigh of relief at the calm up and down move of his pecs while breathing, he could fall asleep right now. "We're made for each other, let's marry right now."
He raised an eyebrow with a small smirk. "Thinking about marriage so soon?"
"You don't?" Asked almost in protest, as he couldn't understand how Spelldon was not thinking about making him his husband.
The witch sighed. "It's too soon for that, we don't want to make decisions we'll regret." That word, made the vampire pull away and look at him as if he just saw a human.
The voices started going wild in Kieran's mind. Regret? Did he just said he'll regret?.. Is he... Doubting our relationship?
Valentine started spiraling.
"Regret?" Took the words out of his head. "You'll regret marrying me?" His tone was a mix of anger and disappointment.
Spelldon catched instantly where Valentine was going and sat back up, the vampire frowned and gave his back to him, avoiding his gaze. "Valentine."
"Don't talk to me." Pouted.
"I know what those words might have meant to you, but i'm not saying i'll regret." He explained, a frail moment of silence in between them, Spelldon needed to collect the right words. "You're the best thing that happened to me, but marrying is a big deal and it's still too soon for that, we need to enjoy the early stages of our relationship."
No answer, Spelldon knew that meant Valentine was thinking about what he said, so he continued. "I know all your past relationships went very fast, but that's one of the reasons why they were not real."
Valentine groaned as he was reminded of his past. "Don't remind me of that."
"You know Kieran." He got close to the vampire. "Building a relationship takes two, if those ghouls thought obsessing over somemonster for a week was gonna work, they kinda deserved it."
The vampire gasped and looked back up at his boyfriend shocked by the shit he said. "What!? They didn't!"
Spelldon grinned. "Hey, they needed that lesson, to learn what true love is, if you didn't broke their hearts somemonster else would have done it."
Valentine shook his head. "But i didn't wanted to be that monster!"
The witch suddenly took his waist and pulled him into his lap making the vampire whine softly in protest, they cuddled together. "But you kinda did something right."
"You're the worst." He tried to pull the witch away as he nuzzled the crook of his neck, but there was no real reason behind it, he liked being loved like that.
Spelldon leaved kisses on the vampire's neck, holding him close against him as the kisses made him giggle, Valentine melted on his boyfriend's touch, letting himself be loved and love back as both got lost in the moment.
