Orbit

Summary:

Ren encounters Akechi in Shibuya on a rainy day.

(Based off the song Orbit by Good Kid.)

Work Text:

It’s been raining heavily this season, what a pain. Ren is out at Shibuya, going to buy some books and other stuff despite the painstaking weather. Ugh, the weather is especially terrible today, he doesn’t know why he chose today to go shopping.

Right when Ren leaves the DVD store, he catches a glimpse of a familiar, pretty prick of a face under the cover of his umbrella from a distance. It’s Akechi, obviously. He’s still getting swarmed by his fans like usual, Ren can see. He huffs and tries to leave, before he feels someone lift the cover of his umbrella.

“Didn’t think I’d see you here!” Akechi exclaims in his signature charismatic way, his fans obviously swooning. Ren couldn’t help but stifle a laugh at the sight, a faint smirk appearing on his lips. And he looks back at Akechi.

God, despite already guessing how Akechi might be hiding something, Ren can’t help but just get lost in the sight of him, despite thinking of him as some kinda prick. He feels like he could get lost looking into those eyes of his, as if they were stars in the night sky. Oh right, he has to respond.

“Y-Yea, good to see you.” Ren replies, trying to keep his composure, despite his slight stutter. God, when the hell does he actually stutter? This is unreal. Is he that infatuated over someone against him as a Phantom Thief? Is he fucking gay?

They continue chatting for a while, making their way through the station. Ren had offered Akechi to go under his umbrella as they walked there, since the detective didn’t bring his own. Surprising from someone incredibly intelligent like him. Not that Ren minds though, it gives him the opportunity to have him next to him- what the hell is he even thinking?

Every time Ren is around Akechi, he feels like he went into the fascinating orbit that surrounds the detective. Why does he even feel like that? He’s so cheesy. But Ren can’t help it, he could get lost in anything he does. It’d be unbelievable if Akechi didn’t catch him staring from the sheer amount he does so.

In fact, he’s staring right now in the metro they’re at. Akechi gets off to his own stop first, and Ren waits for the metro to stop at his station. He arrives after a bit, and makes his way back to Leblanc. Ren wouldn’t be surprised at all if Sojiro saw his red face.

What a fascinatingly complex orbit Akechi has surrounding him.
