Work Text:

Sleep, Fight, Eat, Drink, Rinse, Repeat - nothing else to give?

Life, death, things that nature. All of them present as per featured.

For Commander Wolffe, life, was always stable. Even back in the day during the war, back in the GAR surrounded by his brethren. Now, feeling it all rather sparse, unsettling.

Wolffe, once again alone, sitting in his room after the day’s work was done. Nothing much really to do, except to wait for the next day. As certainly gone, was all the fun, the humour the puns slain.

Wolffe’s thoughts dwelled on the sadness, the overwhelming thoughts of loneliness. As truth being told, despite the few good vod’e still around him, Wolffe, was all alone. His true friends all but gone.

Sighing heavily, Wolffe’s breathing getting laboured. It was difficult suddenly to simply breathe. The all too familiar lump in his throat forming again with ease. The tears mostly never shed stinging behind his now closed eyes never to relent.

The loosing fight, no, the whole battle! Only this time it was his personal battle, his very own war, the struggle eternal of his own making.

And why?

Because Wolffe was totally it faking.

Wolffe hated what he was doing, what he had become. Not cracking a single smile.

No longer the proud trooper, the commander to his kind.

Fisting his hands, trying to control the overwhelming emotions. This wasn’t him! The slobbering out of control idiot?! The tears though, fell without qualm. No use to fight, as they were too strong.

And yet it was all true. This was what Wolffe had become for sure.

“What the kark am I doing in here? What the fuck happened to me?”

The questions whispered to himself really.

A long spell passed, then another tear falling freely.

Sniffing away the last remnants of his tears though. But then, out of the blue a thought occurred, as if clearing the smoke.

Perhaps this latest mission had finally been the one to push the imperial Commander over and right through the looking glass. Seeing his old friend Rex, on the other side…

Perhaps, it was Wolffe’s time?

The time, for a change?

With that thought, Wolffe was making a mental note. A relief washing over him.

Going to sleep, a peaceful slumber finally after a longest while of stumbling.

As Wolffe knew now what he needed to do.

The choice clear, the choice, made.

As tomorrow morning, he would contact Rex.

Life suddenly feeling so much easier.
