Agamemno Contingency Category: Smash Tournament

Through an unknown trans-dimensional anomaly, The JLA was faced with an encounter with a similarly powerful group of heroes. While they aren’t an officially organized fighting force, they have experience teaming up against threats when necessary and have claimed that their usual reason for meeting with each other is competing with each other in a fighting tournament to test their skills. Their tournament drew in a staggering amount of combatant, most of which still have yet to be accounted for.

Although we parted on good terms despite some hiccups and most of the fighters in this file seem heroic in their own right, it pays to be prepared for the worst.

The following contingencies consist of the fighters we have encountered and interacted with thus far. Further data will be added if other competitors of this Smash Tournament are found.

Mario by himself is an incredible superhuman athlete by most standards, but his possession of numerous “power-ups” makes him unpredictable and extremely versatile.

The Mushroom Kingdom’s hero thrives on adaptability and built his fighting style heavily around that. So defeating him will inevitably require keeping a constant backlog of his offensive options and ways to quickly counter them. A modified version of the Justice Buster suit is currently being made to combat the most common of his abilities.

Link from the realm of Hyrule is a multi-incarnate warrior with several lifetimes of experience and skill matching, if not surpassing even Wonder Woman. Combined with an enormous arsenal of weapons and tools for virtually any situation, an impressive intellect in areas of strategy and puzzle-making, and unbreakable courage and willpower on par with Hal Jordan makes Hyrule’s eternal warrior an extremely difficult to go up against, let alone subdue non-lethally.

His connection with his world’s deities and his possession of the “Spirit of the hero” make Link falling to corruption metaphysically impossible, but even he would say there are other ways to become a threat.

However, some of Link’s confirmed defeats imply he is not immune to succumbing to a battle of attrition, placing him in a large and elaborate enough puzzle room may exhaust his mind and body enough to make him vulnerable. I’ll cross-reference temples and dungeons he’s previously conquered with Riddler’s various lairs to devise my own “temple” that he cannot solve within 72 hours with no option to rest in between puzzles.

Kirby, though young, innocent, and extremely naïve, possesses power that has been measured to infinity more than once. One misunderstood encounter has even resulted in him besting most of the Justice League and flat-out stalemating Superman in a fight before Mario stepped in to talk him out of it. Overpowering him has proven virtually impossible.

However, I discovered he has a surprisingly mundane weakness; caterpillars. His aversion to those creatures is something he himself admitted rather openly, implying he recognizes how dire things would get if he turned rogue.

Dropping a big enough load of caterpillars may draw his attention away from whatever he’s doing and cause him to recoil in discomfort and disgust. However there’s a long-term risk of him getting over this weakness.

Trapping him in the Phantom Zone is to be considered a last resort should he become a threat beyond any other means to halting.

Samus Aran is already superhuman thanks to her training and genetic enhancements from the Chozo, but her Power Suit makes her nigh unstoppable against most foes. Any effort to defeat her should start with getting her either out of that suit, or doing significant enough damage to cause most of its abilities to eject out of her.

Inserting a nanobomb or any hacking failsafe isn’t possible, Chozo technology appears designed to prevent external sabotage and reverse-engineering the Power Suit provides limited results despite my efforts. However, Miss Aran possesses a drive to hunt her target at nearly any cost, which can be used to bait her to areas where she can be hit with excessive force without risk of collateral damage. Setting up a potent enough load of C4 in a remote area may do the trick.

Fox McCloud is an incredibly skilled soldier trained to fight anywhere. However, he and his Starfox team are at their most formidable while piloting the Arwing, a high-tech fighter designed for combat both in space and in any atmospheric environment.

Most of the Arwing’s capabilities outclass even my most advanced of Batwings currently made, making a direct dogfight against it suicide. However, its G-Diffuser technology is as much its greatest weakness as it is its greatest asset.

A long-distance precision shot may disable an Arwing’s G-Diffuser and cripple most of the fighter’s capabilities, forcing Fox to fight at ground level.

Agamemno Contingency, Notes section

Basic counters to other known fighters, or “Smashers” as they categorize themselves, require further research:

Pikachu: Rubber Insulation

Yoshi: Green Arrow’s chili(?)

Captain Falcon: Fire suppression, also his vehicle known as the Blue Falcon may be vulnerable to EMP.

Ness: Isolation from any and all phones.

Luigi: See “Plumber” file, as Luigi has similar abilities to his brother Mario. Alternatively, he may be particularly susceptible to Scarecrow’s Fear Toxin. Injection dart would be more ideal than gas which he can counter with his vacuum weapon the Poltergust 3000.

Donkey Kong: Large stockpile of bananas.

Jigglypuff: Soundproof room.
