Work Text:
Her room is shining under the morning sun,
She’s sitting by the window, in sorrow, watching paperboys run.
The morning gave way to the noon,
Then the sun set, the people went home, and all she could see was the moon.
In the middle of the night, two lips meet and melt into each other passionately,
They fall apart too early, she leaves him behind and he thinks he’s not worthy.
It still doesn’t keep him from dreaming, but then he faces the reality,
She is in the arms of a particular man and all he can do is watch her smile at him prettily.
Swirl of satin, lace and silk; flare of candlelights and words of wit,
Sweet melodies of the flute, piano and violin; yet her heart sings louder than all of it.
She was on the dance floor, twirling, then something happened, something unexpected,
He came in and swooped her in his arms, people who knew them didn’t find it shocking.
He was determined, he ran for his life and in the end, he got the girl of his dreams,
The carriage was their first scene of crime but their marital home was the real source of steam.
Now they’re in her bedroom, from the beginning, looking each other in the mirror after a year,
He leans in, kisses her locks of red hair and whispers “It’s just us here.”
