Work Text:
He knew he was busted when he heard footsteps coming to the kitchen and he quickly stuffed more cookies in his mouth. The owner of the footsteps entered the kitchen and he realized it was just Pen, thankfully.
“Good God, you scared me.” His voice came muffled (naturally) and he splattered cookie crumbs around.
“You couldn’t sleep either?” She asked timidly, she was always shy around him since he started high school. He understood why exactly, when he was in middle school, high-schooler Benedict seemed grown up and cool too but now that he was also 14, he knew that was not the case (not that he would tell his little siblings and lose his leverage).
“I was hungry.” He shrugged and opened the fridge to grab some milk. “Would you like some too?”
She nodded so he served her milk with some cookies and sat next to her.
“Why are you awake?” He asked, wondering if Eloise kicked Pen in her sleep like she did some other times in their sleepovers.
“I was scared because of the movie.” She mumbled shyly.
“It’s normal, even I was scared.” He nudged her with his shoulder, making her giggle.
“Really?”
“Yeah, I’m surprised Anthony let us watch it.”
“Well, he wasn’t paying attention, he was texting his girlfriend.” She bit her cookie.
“Penelope, what a barb.” They both laughed in the quiet of the night.
