“Sounds fun!” Teru smiles, he lounges on the couch next to Mob, who shows him a new exhibit at an aquarium.
“We could all go this wednesday, so it’s not too busy” Mob comments, “can you go then Tome”
“Sure sure, I’ll double check but I think I can”
“Sick I heard they had some cool sharks there” Shou tips dangerously forward in his chair.
“I think we went there a long time ago when we was younger, I remember they had an exhibit where you could pet some of the fish, I wonder if they still have it”
“It looks like they do Ritsu, it actually looks a bit bigger”
“Really?” Ritsu leans over the couch to take a look at Mobs phone. While he does that Mob looks up to Serizawa at his small desk. “Do want to come too Serizawa”
“Oh can I, if it’s just you kids I don't want to intrude” Serizawa worries.
“You won’t be intruding, the more the merrier, and Shishou says that it’s always good to have a responsible adult nearby”
“Then count me in, I’m sure I’ll be free then”
Everyone happily chats while said Shishou pretends he’s not listening in on their conversation, secretly hoping he gets invited.
He wouldn’t have been surprised if he wasn’t, if it was just the kids going, but now that they invited Serizawa he feels like there’s no excuse for him not to be invited. It’s not like this is a teen only get together, he should be able to go too right. Or maybe not, Mob did say he was inviting Serizawa so they’d have a responsible adult in their mists, so maybe that was the only reason he invited him. And he just chose the more responsible of the two adults nearby. That makes sense, Serizawa is usually the better choice between them. For anything. Serizawa’s more handsome than him, more kind, stronger, everything about him is leagues better than Reigen.
So if Mob had to choose, of course he chose Serizawa.
But isn’t it a bit cruel to plan something in front of someone, a good friend even, (he’s pretty sure he can count Mob as a good friend, despite their age difference) and not invite them. Mob wouldn’t do that, right.
Any moment now Mob’s gonna turn to him and ask if he wants to go.
Any of them could ask, any moment now.
Mob picks up his bags, Shou and Ritsu are already out the door. Tome tells Mob she’ll text him about the plans later as she packs her homework and leaves for home.
Any moment now.
Teru waves Serizawa goodbye, says he’ll see him at the aquarium, and Mob follows close behind him.
“Bye Shishou, Serizawa” he waves and the door clicks shut behind him.
Really? Not one of them? He guesses he understands that. He’s not the funnest to hang around. Maybe they just didn’t want to deal with him, they just wanted a nice relaxing aquarium visit, without him being annoying and ruining it all.
Maybe Serizawa though?
He’s packing up his bag at his desk, but there’s still time. Serizawa could invite him, he’s nice like that.
It occurs to Reigen that maybe he could just ask. But wouldn’t that be annoying. The one person you don’t want coming, asking to come, and then you either have to reject him without somehow hurting his feelings (literally impossible) or let him come and ruin the entire trip.
He can’t ask. He doesn’t want to force them to invite him. If they want him to come, they’ll ask. And if they don’t, that doesn’t have to mean anything, people plan things without certain people all the time, it doesn’t mean they hate them or anything, or that they count the seconds till they can all leave him, or that they all barely tolerate him.
Right?
“Reigen” Serizawa startles him out of his thoughts, he’s by the door.
“Yeah?..” oh?
“I’m going now, see you tomorrow” he smiles. oh.
“Yeah, see you tomorrow” without another word Serizawa shuts the door behind him.
Any moment now?
