Chapter Text
Robby woke up abruptly and jolted into a sitting position. His breathing was rapid and shallow, the muscles of his arms trembled as he struggled to hold his body up. He was sweating, his shirt sticking to his body. He looked around the dark room, but his mind was foggy and he felt confused, unsure of whether he was still dreaming or not.
“Robby?”
He looked to his right side and his eyes locked with a pair of hazel ones. A pair he knew really well. Tory. With this realization, his thoughts started to slowly clear up. Right, they were in the bed, inside their hotel room, and it was the last night before the tournament they signed up for. The first one in their new careers.
“Robby? Hey, you okay?” Tory asked again, worry slightly creeping into her voice.
“I’m okay,” he mumbled and plopped back down on his pillow, letting out a shaky breath. “Sorry I woke you up.”
He felt the mattress movement when his girlfriend scooted closer to him and reached out her hand to touch his cheek, “You’re sweating. Did you have a bad dream?”
Robby leaned into her touch, the skin of her hand soft and cool felt soothingly on his flushed and hot face. Robby locked his eyes on her. She was wearing one of his shirts, slightly bigger than her size. Her hair was loose, blond waves framing her beautiful face. The moonlight entering through the window, reflected on her face and caused her eyes to twinkle, when she looked down at him. Robby inhaled through his nose and smelt her shampoo and conditioner, which helped him to ground himself and calm faster.
“Yes, I think I did.”
Tory nodded and lied down next to him, her hand moving down to rest on his chest, “Do you want to talk about it?”
Robby shook his head slightly and said, “I don’t even remember what it was exactly. I just… sometimes I have problems with sleeping outside of home. I’m sure it’ll get used to it eventually, but right now it’s a little hard.”
“I feel it too, you know?” she replied. “This is the second time I’ve ever been out of the country and it’s making me nervous too. We don’t have Senseis anymore, Sam and Miguel are also gone. And jetlag isn’t helping either.”
“Yeah, it’s not,” Robby sighed.
“But we’re here. Together,” Tory said, and scooted even closer, draping her right arm over his waist and nuzzling her face into his neck. “I’ll have your back, whatever happens. And you’ll have mine. And next week, after we win this thing, because we will, we can go on a vacation and just relax.”
Robby couldn’t help but smile. This was the side of Tory very few people knew about and he was really proud that he had the privilege to be one of them. His girl was tough as nails, but when they were alone, sometimes she was getting very clingy, seeking her way into his arms. And he loved it too. He knew that neither of them could expect much physical affection growing up, for various reasons, so Robby was very happy to make up for it with Tory.
He leaned in and kissed her forehead, draping his right arm around her back, “I don’t deserve you, babe.”
“Mhmm... and don’t forget it, because I saw a few very handsome karatekas in here,” she mumbled and he could feel her smirking against his neck. She yelped in surprise and started squirming and giggling, when Robby tickled her ribs. “I take it back! I take it back!”
He stopped and Tory leaned up to peck his cheek and yawned, “I love you too. But I’ll love you even more if we can get few more hours of sleep, okay?”
Robby nodded mumbling a quiet confirmation, and a few moments later both of them were snoring softly, still wrapped in their embrace.
