Westopolis had seen destruction before. Between the Black Arms invasion and the chaos left in its wake, the city had barely begun to rebuild. But today… there would be no rebuilding.
The ground trembled violently, splitting open as an abyss of swirling dark energy erupted beneath the city streets. Screams filled the air as civilians fled, but the United Federation’s military stood their ground. Tanks fired round after round into the gaping void, fighter jets screamed across the sky, releasing payloads of missiles.
Nothing worked.
From the chasm, a low, eerie laughter resonated. A twisted, writhing mass of darkness began to rise – eyes opening across its formless body. The air itself grew thick with malevolence as the Dark Star emerged from its long slumber.
"Your world shall be devoured." Its voice was layered with echoes, as though thousands of voices spoke at once.
Then came destruction. The Dark Star exhaled a pulse of corrupt energy, and in an instant, the military was wiped out – tanks corroded into dust, soldiers petrified before crumbling into nothing, and entire buildings reduced to shadows of their former selves.
Westopolis was gone. And the world was next.
Inside his base, Dr. Eggman watched the horror unfold through a news broadcast. His fists clenched – this was the moment he was waiting for. He had spent his life proving he was the greatest mind on Mobius, but now was his opportunity to prove just how much he wanted to change for the better.
He turned to Sage. “Send the message.”
Sage nodded, and her holographic form flickered into the heroes’ communication network.
Meanwhile, Sonic and his friends gathered in Tails’ workshop as Sage relayed Eggman’s warning. The message was brief, but the urgency in Eggman’s voice was undeniable.
Knuckles, however, went pale. “…No way. It can’t be.”
“What is it, Knucklehead?” Sonic asked.
Knuckles took a deep breath. “The Dark Star… It’s real.”
Everyone turned toward him.
“My tribe discovered its existence long ago. It was some kind of ancient cosmic entity that existed before time itself. The Echidna Clan feared its return – Tikal and Chaos worked together to seal it beneath the earth years before my tribe was wiped out.” He clenched his fists. “If it’s awake now… then we’re all in danger.”
Without further delay, Sonic, Shadow, and their allies rushed to Westopolis; however, nothing could prepare them for what they found. The city was no more – just a void of swirling corruption. And at the center, the Dark Star pulsed.
Then, it spoke.
“Your strength will be your undoing.”
The formless entity extended its tendrils of shadow. Suddenly, Sonic felt something pulling at him – his anger, his hatred, his darkest emotions. Images of his past failures – his losses, his frustrations – flooded his mind.
Before he could react, the darkness ripped away from him.
A figure began to form. It had his shape. His spikes. His power.
But its eyes… were empty. Cold. Merciless.
Dark Super Sonic had been reborn – not as a fleeting transformation, but as a true entity of malice.
Shadow stepped forward. “I’ll handle this.”
He activated his Super Form, his golden light clashing against the dark. But it wasn’t enough. Even as he removed his Inhibitor Rings and unleashed his full power, Dark Super Sonic overwhelmed him.
With a flurry of strikes, Dark Super Sonic sent Shadow crashing into the ruins, his golden form flickering.
“Damn...” he muttered, blood dripping from his mouth.
Sonic ran to Shadow’s side, his fists shaking. “We can’t stop it... Not like this.”
Knuckles, meanwhile, had been charging the Master Emerald. He gritted his teeth. “We need more power… Chaos Emeralds won’t be enough.”
With a final push, he shouted:
“The servers are the seven Chaos! Chaos is power, and power is enriched by the heart! The controller is the one that unifies the Chaos! O Master Emerald, please give us the strength to stop the Dark Star and save our world from annihilation!”
A burst of green light shot into the sky. The Chaos Emeralds glowed brightly, reforming into Super Emeralds that pulsed with Hyper Energy.
Sonic and Shadow rose into the sky, absorbing the Super Emeralds' power. Their bodies radiated multicolored auras, their fur shifting between prismatic hues.
Hyper Sonic. Hyper Shadow.
The Dark Star recoiled. For the first time… it felt fear.
The battle defied reality itself. Hyper Sonic and Hyper Shadow moved faster than light, their combined attacks ripping through Dark Super Sonic and the Dark Star’s essence.
“You’re done, faker!” Sonic shouted as he launched a Hyper Light Speed Attack, striking in countless directions at once.
Shadow charged pure Hyper Chaos Energy into his hands. “Hyper Chaos Spear!” He unleashed a massive energy strike, obliterating the last remnants of Dark Super Sonic.
Only the Dark Star remained.
It shrieked in rage, expanding, trying to consume the planet whole. But Sonic and Shadow combined their power, summoning a final attack.
“HYPER CHAOS BLAST!”
A shockwave of pure light detonated across the battlefield, piercing through the Dark Star’s core.
It screeched, its form collapsing inward. Then-
BOOM.
The Dark Star was no more.
The skies cleared. Westopolis, though damaged, had been saved.
Eggman stood alongside his former enemies, watching the dust settle. Sonic looked at him. “You really came through, Eggman.”
Eggman smirked. “Tch. Don’t get used to it, hedgehog.”
Knuckles placed a hand on the Master Emerald. “With this, the Dark Star will never return.”
Shadow, arms crossed, smirked. “Hmph. We make a good team.”
Sonic grinned. “Yeah... we do.”
As the sun rose, one thing was certain:
Mobius had truly entered a new era – one where even the darkest forces could not prevail. And for the first time in years, Dr. Eggman stood not as a villain - but as an ally.
