Notes:

Hey everybody, here's that Gyumi multichapter I mentioned a while back, Its the first long story I have written in a while so it feels a little weird, And, contrary to what I usually do, I'm updating the chapters as I write them so hopefully it doesn't end badly for me. I'm hoping to update once a week, but no promises. As usual, this story is Cali and Nica, the owners of the characters. I hope you all enjoy the first chapter!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Audition

Chapter Text

How in the hell had Gyu gotten himself into this situation. He didn't even like acting, but now he was about to be called onstage to recite lines for a play he didn't know a thing about. The second Shinya had found out about his schools play he had been bugging the twins to audition for it. Shiren had gotten out of it because he had lacrosse practice after school, but Gyu had no excuse.

He had only agreed after Shinya had mentioned that Guren didn't like plays, so the raven-haired boy did it to annoy his father. Leaning back in his chair with his eyes shut, Gyu sighed, wishing he could just be at home instead of surrounded overly dramatic idiots who were making the oddest of sounds as they prepared for their auditions. Finally, a teacher stepped onto the stage, setting up a microphone and switching it on.

“Hello everybody, I'm happy that so many of you showed up to these auditions. We almost never get so many people!” Gyu rolled his eyes, this brunette was another annoyingly eager theater nerd.

“So, for anyone who doesn't know, I'm Mr. Saotome-Kimizuki, but just call me Yoichi. I'm running the play this year as usual and it looks like its going to be a really good one. As most of you know the play is Romeo and Juliet, so if anyone needs a script, we have plenty. When I call you up, tell me what part you're auditioning for and read your chosen lines. First up, Michirou Hyakuya.” Yoichi stepped off the stage and took his place in the front, waiting for Michi to come up. When he never appeared, Yoichi frowned and muttered to himself.

“That's odd, he was so excited about this.” Yoichi sighed softly and looked down the list, calling out another name. Gyu waited impatiently as more and more names were called, noticing a disturbing lack of talent among those who claimed they wanted to be the leads.

'Honestly, this is going to be easy. To think all these people call themselves actors.' Gyu thought to himself as a yellow-haired girl exited the stage with a smile, obviously sure of herself.

“Gyurei Ichinose?” Yoichi called, glancing around the remaining students.

“It's Hiiragi,” Gyu stated, standing up and gliding his way to the stage.

“Huh? Oh, sorry. Anyway, Gyurei, what role are you auditioning for?”

“I don't really care, any role is fine. I'm only doing this to annoy my father.” Yoichi ran a hand through his hair and nodded, pulling out a sheet of paper to write on.

“Go ahead then.” Gyu took a deep breath and shut his eyes momentarily, having already memorized lines from the play.

Oh, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night, like a rich jewel in an Ethiope’s ear, beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear. So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows, as yonder lady o'er her fellows shows. The measure done, I’ll watch her place of stand. And, touching hers, make blessèd my rude hand. Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night.

Gyu gestured dramatically at an unseen figure, bringing a hand to his heart as he pretended to watch his Juliet. Clapping filled the silence as he finished, several people even going so far as to stand from their seats. With a smirk, Gyu bowed, hand on his hip as he waited for Yoichi to say something.

“Wow, Gyurei, that was impressive. For someone who doesn't care about his role, you pulled Romeo off quite well.” Gyu shrugged and jumped off the stage, checking the time. It was still another half hour before his brother showed up with the car so he decided to just watch the rest of the auditions, snickering behind his hand at some of the worse ones.

“Is there anyone else who wants to go?” Yoichi called, standing up and gathering his papers. The room remained silent as everyone began to leave, Gyu yawning and stretching. Just as he was making his way to the door it burst open, what looked like a freshman kid, emphasis on the fresh, ran past him, waving his hand.

“Wait, wait! Yoichi I'm here, I'm so sorry I'm late.” The kid panted, leaning on his knees as he fought to catch his breath.

“There you are, Michi, I was worried you changed your mind.”
“No, not at all. I just got caught up in some makeup work and forgot that auditions were today.” Yoichi smiled and sat back in his chair.

“No worries, you caught me just in time. Go ahead and get up there, we have scripts if you need one. Everyone else, you're free to go, I'll post the cast list in a few days.” Most of the other students disappeared, Gyu intended to follow them when a text had him pause.

Insufferable asshole:
Sorry, Gyu-nii, gonna be late. Kimito caught me in the showers and we're a tad occupied.

Gyu-nii:
Disgusting, just hurry the hell up, your never getting the car again.

Gyu rolled his eyes and sat back down, he may as well watch this little shrimp's audition while Shiren got off with his 'absolutely not my boyfriend' boyfriend. The midget was cute, Gyu had to give him that, jet black hair framing his face and what may have been the prettiest blue eyes Gyu had ever seen. They sparkled under the bright lights of the stage as Michi composed himself, setting down his bag and cracking his knuckles.

He took a deep breath and stood there for a moment, hands by his side. When he opened them he was looking directly at Gyu, who smirked slightly. This kid was a little too adorable for his own good.

“A-as in a vault, an a-a-ancient receptacle...” Michi's voice shook and he turned bright red as his eyes continued to stare into Gyu's, the smaller boy too flustered to speak properly. Wrenching his gaze away from Gyu, Michi turned to Yoichi, who looked slightly amused at the exchange.

“Sorry, can I start over? I'm just a little-”

“Sure, it's alright,” Yoichi smiled and Michi lit up a little, this time, he was sure to not look at Gyu as he spoke.

As in a vault, an ancient receptacle, where for these many hundred years the bones of all my buried ancestors are packed; where bloody Tybalt, yet but green in earth, lies festering in his shroud; where, as they say, at some hours in the night spirits resort—? Alack, alack, is it not like that I, so early waking, what with loathsome smells, and shrieks like mandrakes torn out of the earth, that living mortals, hearing them, run mad—?

Gyu's eyes widened as Michi performed his part, both in shock at the younger boy having chosen lines for Juliet and in awe of the acting. Michi spoke his lines perfectly, displaying infinite amounts of emotions as though he truly was Juliet, living in fear of her future. The teens heart sped up as Michi read the last of his lines, eyes glued to his movements.

'Holy shit, this kid is fucking amazing' Gyu thought to himself, fighting the urge to run up to Michi as he went to talk to Yoichi.

“That was great Michi, I take it you're going for the Juliet role?”

“Definitely, I decided the second I saw the poster. By the way, who is that guy who was watching me over there.” Michi nodded his head towards Gyu, who was too busy angrily texting his brother to notice.

“That's Gyurei, he has a good shot at Romeo.”

“Seriously? Him? He looks like too much of a punk to even audition, much the less for the lead role.” Yoichi shrugged his shoulders and stood up, ruffling Michi's already messy hair.

“Don't judge a book by its cover, I'm sure he's a nice guy. I mean, you've seen Shiho, haven't you? You wouldn't think that he's sensitive and sweet, but he's the world's biggest teddy bear.” Michi smiled and picked up his bag, glancing at Gyu, who was leaving.

“Yeah, I guess so. I have to go, Papa and Yuumi are going to be here soon.”

“Tell your dads I said hi!” Michi nodded and ran out the door to the parking lot, sitting on a bench and wrapping his arms around himself.

It was cold for early spring and Michi hadn't thought to bring a jacket, so he was soon shivering. Gyu was on the bench opposite from him, looking the younger teen over. Michi was in a t-shirt and skinny jeans, definitely not dressed for the weather. With a tiny sigh, Gyu walked over and sat next to Michi, who looked at him with wide eyes. “H-hello?”

“Why did you audition for Juliet?” Gyu asked easily, slipping off his jacket and draping it over Michi's shoulders.

“What? Why did you-?”

“Just take it, your freezing. And answer the question.” Michi turned pink and pulled the leather tighter around himself, looking at his feet.

“Its sort of my dream role. I've been doing plays since I was a little kid and I've always been drawn to Juliet. I don't know, it just felt right.”

“You're a weird kid, you know that. What grade are you in, anyway?”

“I have a name, jerk, and I'm a sophomore.” Michi huffed and crossed his arms angrily, pretending to mess with his phone.

“You're too tiny to be a sophomore, midget, you're a freshman at best.”

“Don't call me that! For the last time, my name is Michi! And I am a sophomore!” Gyu laughed and slung his arm across Michi, who immediately wiggled away.

“Little bunny has some fight, I see. Fine, Michi, you're a tiny sophomore with a name.”

“Good. Why did you even audition for this play, you don't seem like the type.” Gyu sighed and pulled away, standing up.

“Maybe I'm not exactly what you think.”

“I think your an asshole punk who likes messing with people,” Michi smiled softly as he spotted Mika and Yuumi pulling up, another car following behind.

“You'll just have to stick around to find out, Juliet,” Gyu smirked as he got into the car he and his brother shared, winking at Michi as he shut the door.

Michi flushed red as he got into his own car, watching Gyu drive away. “Who was that?” Yuumi asked from the back seat, blonde hair falling over her shoulders as she leaned forward.

“Some guy who was at the audition. He's a jerk, though, called me a midget.” Mika laughed and tousled Michi's hair.

“You are pretty small, I'm almost as tall as you.” Yuumi giggled, sitting back in her seat.

“Shut up, you are not.”

“Now, now, not this old fight again. Michi, where did you get that jacket?” Mika asked, smiling softly as he drove.

“Hmm? Oh, Gyu gave it to me, I forgot to give it back.”

“Ooh, he gave you his jacket? Sounds awful serious to me.” Mika teased with a small laugh, turning into their driveway.

“He's just a jerk who did something decent for me, I don't like him, especially not in that way.”

“Michi likes Gyu, Michi likes Gyu!” Yuumi laughed, jumping out of the backseat and following Mika inside. Michi unbuckled with a sigh and grabbed his bag, knowing that arguing with his sister wouldn't end well.

“Well, isn't he the cutest little thing!” Shiren laughed, pulling away from the school parking lot.

“Shut up, you little shit, why the hell were you so late?”

“Didn't you get my text, Gyu-nii? After lacrosse Kimito and I-”

“I got that part, didn't need to know. Why the fuck couldn't you have waited until after you drove me home to screw your boyfriend?”

“For the last damn time, he's not my boyfriend. And why wait? So who was that guy, didn't he have your jacket?” Gyu sighed and stared out the window, too tired to deal with his twins antics.

“I think his name is Michi, I gave him my jacket because he was freezing. The midget tried out for Juliet, he's a bit of a firecracker.”

“I still don't know why you auditioned for that stupid play, isn't that a little stupid.”

“If it pisses off Guren, then it's worth it. Besides, if that kid is playing my opposite, then it won't be so bad.”

“Ha! You totally have a crush on this Michi guy, that's hilarious.” Gyu glared at Shiren, had the white haired teen not been driving then Gyu would have punched him.

“Do you never shut up?”

“Nope!” Shiren smirked and switched on the radio, leaving Gyu to his own thoughts. Honestly, the thought of performing in a play was weird, Gyu wasn't sure how he felt about it. Especially if Michi was playing Juliet and he was Romeo, that was bound to lead to awkward romance scenes.

Gyu smiled softly at the possibility of getting to kiss that cute little bunny of his, heart speeding up slightly and adding to the strange feeling in the pit of his stomach. Gyu just shrugged it off, he was probably just coming down with something. And what were the chances that he even got the lead anyway?
