The louder you shout, the less you really are heard?
“Kixiiiii!!!”
There was no response though.
“Kiiiiixxxx!!!”
“Still nothing. Jesse getting a tad anxious.
“KIIIXXX! Hey Kiiiiiix!!!”
Jesse’s voice was getting hoarse from all the shouting.
Kix, having been deep in his audiobook with earphones on got a feeling suddenly. Thinking he had heard something. Someone, shouting? It was faint but definitely a sound outside of his current bubble despite the noise cancelling being on his headgear.
Kix paused the book and listen for a spell, taking his phones half off. One ear to be more exact. Carefully listening for anything unusual.
Alas there was no noise just then.
“Guess I must be hearing things.” Kix shrugged.
Kix was just about to continue his book when the ear piercing whine of a howl hit the airwaves.
“Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!”
“What the fuck?”
Kix got up and started towards the window where the sound was coming from. The outside to be more exact.
“Kiiiiiiiiix! Hey Kixiiiiiiii!!!!”
Jesse was almost sobbing now, coughing, his voice almost gone from all the shouting.
Kix recognised the voice without a doubt. Seeing whom it was beneath his window there, causing all that ruckus.
A piss drunk Jesse was what it was. Swaying there without much control, half crying.
“Kiiix…” it was more of a whisper now.
Kix opened the window, glancing around, seeing only Jesse there, thankfully.
“What the kriff, Jesse?”
Jesse managed look up barely seeing straight, all puns withstanding.
“Kix.“
“Yeah.”
“Kix…” It sounded almost wistful.
“Why are you out there in the yard in the middle of the night, shouting my name rather than coming inside?”
“You don’t love me anymore.” Jesse’s slurred. Rubbing his face his eyes crying fully suddenly.
Kix could not believe this. Or where this was all coming from. Or what had happened to Jesse suddenly. Then again, he should have known better than to leave Jesse with the others earlier. Right?
“Who told you that?”
“Then others.”
“In the bar?”
Kix guessed Jesse had been in a bar after himself coming home, the other clone drinking. But, as to the sudden shouting and accusations of not loving him, well, Kix had no clue.
“Yes.”
“Why don’t you haul your shebs inside so we can talk, huh, love?”
Not that Kix expected Jesse to be able to talk the way he was right now. But yeah, shouting drunken slurs outside would most probably get him arrested if the neighbours woke up.
“Can’t.”
“Why not.”
“I forgot where we live.”
Kix rolled his eyes then shook his head. Yeah, Jesse really could get confused sometimes. Even if the trooper had clearly found his way home.
“Fine, stay there and I’ll come and get you.”
“K.”
Getting the drunk Jesse upstairs was easy enough as Kix still had his strength despite then being out of the army now. Civilian life being lived and all that.
Hauling the half conscious partner of his upstairs and to bed was his responsibility after all. Kix cursing under his breath true, but there was nothing he wouldn’t have done for Jesse. As that was what partners did for each other no matter what.
Before they could talk though Jesse had already passed out.
Gently stroking Jesse’s hair as he snored off his drunkenness like a wee devil he totally was.
“Sleep my sweet. Can’t wait for the explanation for this one tomorrow.”
Giving Jesse a kiss on his forehead before adding. “Love ya.”
The snoring stopped and Jesse’s eyes popped wide open out of the blue.
“I told them they were wrong.”
“Yeah they were.”
Kix chuckled, Jesse falling back to sleep instantly.
Kix then tucked Jesse under the covers and remaining by Jesse’s side, just in case there was more trouble.
“Indeed they were, wrong.” Kix softly stated as he continued reading a book this time around while staying vigilant by his partners side. As Kix always and forever would stay by Jesse’s side no matter what anyone would claim.
