Alastor was nervous. Today, Lucifer was coming over to meet his mom, who was coming over for Christmas. He already met him when he was a kid, and as a friend when they were adults, but not as his… partner.
Partners. That word still felt weird to him. It was the word they decided to go with instead of boyfriends. It made him feel happy, and nervous at the same time. He sometimes worries that he will say the wrong thing around Lucifer, and he’ll leave again. His partner noticed this and they had a long conversation about it. He feels more secure that Lucifer won’t leave him if he says the wrong thing.
“Alastor!” His mom exclaimed as he opened the door. She hugged him cheerfully and then said, “How have you been, mon tresor?” She walked in and put her bag down,
“Good, thank you! How bout-”
“You must be! When I heard that someone, Sammy Mange no less, had snatched up your heart, I just had to meet ‘em!” She sat down on his couch, and Alastor joined her. “Now tell me more bout your boyfriend! How has Sammy been?”
“You’ll get to ask him yourself in a few minutes. They should’ve been here by now,” He shrugged. “It seems he carried over their practice of being late into adulthood.”
“Who’s they?”
DING-DONG!
Alastor shot up like a lightning bolt to answer the door, as his mother chuckled at how giddy he seemed.
When he got to the door and opened it to see Lucifer’s face smiling brightly at him, he was wearing a red and green striped Christmas sweater with deer and ducks all over it. He also had a small messy wrapped Christmas gift.
Alastor’s smile brightened. “Hello, Luci.” Lucifer opened his arm as an invitation for a hug. He gladly accepted it.
When they parted and went inside, Alastor’s mom walked up to him and hugged him. “Sammy! My goodness, how long has it been?”
“Too long Ms. Heartfelt!” Lucifer bent down slightly to hug her back.
“Oh! None of that Ms Hear, Sammy, call me Rosalie!” She laughed as they walked to the couch. “What’s that cha got there?”
“Oh, it's a present for Alastor.” Lucifer looked a bit embarrassed. “I was going to wait until your visit was done, but I didn’t want to.” He gave the present to Alastor, his face a light red.
“I’ll open it later when I give you yours.” Alastor put his arm around his partner's shoulder and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
“So Sammy, I heard that you go by a new name these days,” Rosalie asked.
“Uh, yeah. I go by Lucifer Morningstar now. I wanted a name that my parents and siblings wouldn’t like so they wouldn’t think that it was me.” Lucifer sheepishly says.
“That makes sense.”
The three talked, made cookies, ate dinner, and watched TV for the rest of the day. When his mom got in the Uber to the train station (she insisted that she take one instead of Alastor and Lucifer driving her) Alastor grabbed Lucifer’s present and gave it to him.
Lucifer’s eyes lit up at the sight of a scarf with duck patterns all over it. “Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh!!!!” He squealed. “This is the cutest scarf I’ve ever seen!!!!!”
Alastor chuckled at his partner’s antics as he opened his gift. It was a photo of them. And not just any photo. It was their first kiss. “What- how”
“Rosie took it.” Lucifer shared. “It was a little last minute because of all the Christmas orders I had-mhf!” Alastor cut him off with a kiss.
“It’s perfect.” He smiled.
Best Christmas ever… he thought.
