BRIGHTNEY YOU ARE GAY🫵🏳️‍🌈

Work Text:

Brightney was swallowed in complete darkness, the only light being her dimly lit light bulb. She images her heart as that light bulb, flickering, trying to say bright when it knows it’s losing its spark.

I'm losing my spark.

Brightney mumbled incoherently as she held her trembling form, walking aimlessly, trying to find something. She doesn’t know who or what. She just…needs it.

Her legs felt weak, her feet begging to stop. She’s been walking for hours, just looking for whatever this thing is. She lets out a stifled sigh, sitting down on the cold floor. Her legs were huddled against her chest, trying to shield herself from this…hell

No, Brightney! You need to stay positive. You’ll rot away if you rain on your mood this much…

Brightney forced herself to smile, trying to flush out her brain.

Think, think… good memories, think of those.

A TV near her starts to glow, startling her. This tv is supposed to be broken?? She turned around, her head tilting to the side as she placed two hands on the tv. It shined a bright green color. That shade of green. The shade of…Vee

Brightney’s face turned sour. She’s given up on that tv. She never came back for her.

But

Sometimes she likes to think Vee will come back. Almost like Vee is on her normal game show but Brightney is always in the background. Waiting to join the show. Waiting to hop into Vee’s life again…

But you’re not a main toon, Brightney. You’re just there. You always were.

“Man…I wonder if this is how Shelly felt…” Brightney let out a sigh, pressing her forehead against the tv as her eyes shut firmly, tears forming. “I miss her…”

Shelly was never her friend but…she was nice. Loyal, put herself before others, creative…but no one cared. Brightney wished she saved her. Shelly’s mangled cries rang in her head constantly, a reminder of her sin. Selfish. That should be correct. You’re selfish, Brightney. Very selfish. You were so obsessed with that tv you ignored the suffering of another.

Brightney’s hands clenched against the tv as she hit her head against the tv. It hurt. Ichor ran down her forehead. But it hurt so good. The pain is almost pleasant. She banged her head again, and again. And again. Until the screen of the tv cracked, completely breaking it this time. Shards of glass stabbed her skin, making her let out a ugly, loud scream. Her heart pumped hard against her chest as her breath turned ragged.

But she saw the green light again. How did the tv still glow…?

She grasped one of the shards of glass that was on the ground, looking at her…self. That’s not her. That’s her. Shelly

“First time, eh? Oh you get used to being lonely!~”

‘Shelly’ mocked her, her voice laughing.

I gave up on Vee a longggg time ago. She doesn’t care about you, Brightney. Your spark is gone, that’s the only thing she liked about you.”

“You’re fucking lying!! Stop this shit, Shelly?!” Brightney yelled, her hands dropping the shard of glass, it breaking into more pieces. What seemed to be eyes stared back at her, scrutinizing her. “S-she…she loves me. She’ll be back…”

The laughing only grew stronger.

“She’d be back if it benefited her, but she has no use for you anymore. The lamp doesn’t glow anymore.”

Brightney’s hands clenched harder, her knuckles turning into a lighter pink as her hands roughly pounded the ground. Ichor poured from her hands, the pain was unbearable. But her hands moved without any thought, crushing the glass and the tv until she was left exhausted, her hands bleeding with ichor.

Her eyes peeled open, looking down at her mess. Ichor stained the ground, small fragments of the tv on the ground as well.

What have I done?

She’s losing it.
