Work Text:
Caleb and Evelyn were busy in the kitchen together, happily crafting and carving a batch of cute, homemade Bile Sac Day shocklates when they heard a knock at the door.
Caleb, setting down his carving tool, goes to answer the door, and when he does...
"Hm? That's strange. No one's there...," said the teen to himself in a whisper as he looked to his left and then his right before turning his direction to the ground.
In front of his feet, he noticed a cutely decorated envelope.
It was adorned with bright pink glitter and red hearts and addressed to a certain Wittebane.
Philip Wittebane.
With a light gasp, Caleb picked up the love letter and began to examine its front and back with gentle eyes and a soft gaze.
The blonde felt the corners of his mouth move up, a pleasant smile now plastered on his face.
'Aww,' he thought to himself in his mind.
Someone (most definitely a girl) had a crush on his little brother.
Caleb would make sure to show the love note to Philip once he returned.
After witnessing his brother's social isolation for so many years, it was very comforting to Caleb to know that there was someone out there who really liked Philip a lot.
"Who was at the door?" Evelyn asked with a smile as she approached Caleb from behind, placing a hand on his shoulder.
When Caleb jovially showed off the letter to Evelyn, it was now her turn to gasp, her eyes lighting up.
"Aww!" she exclaimed excitedly while gushing, placing two hands on her cheeks.
"How sweet! Little Philip's got a secret admirer!" she expressed merrily in a syrupy voice.
"Ooo, ooo, let's open up the envelope and see what she wrote him!" Evelyn suggested with a mischievous smile.
"Huh?!" Caleb exclaimed in disbelief at the proposal, quickly shooting his girlfriend a stunned look. "E-Evie, we can't do that. Philip would--"
"Don't worry," Evelyn reassured. "I'll just use my magic to reseal the envelope. It'll look as if no one had ever opened it."
"I don't know..."
Evelyn gave a playful whine. "Oh, come on, Cale," she said, brushing her shoulder against her boyfriend's. "Aren't you dying to find out what this mystery girl said to your brother?" she asked.
"I..." Caleb began in an attempt to argue before pausing.
He... couldn't deny that he, too, was also extremely curious about the letter's contents.
He sighed as Evelyn's smile got wider, her aura brightening. "Fine," he said, giving into the idea.
"Yay!" beamed the witch, jumping for joy.
"But," Caleb started to state in a somewhat stern tone. "The envelope has to be properly sealed after we're done reading."
Evelyn quickly nodded. "Of course!"
...
After Caleb and Evelyn finished reading the homemade Bile Sac Day card, which had the sweetest and most sincere message written inside it, they both smiled to themselves as they looked at each other.
Mentally, they were awwing.
"She seems like such a sweet girl...," they both spoke in a soft tone at the same time.
...
Back inside, Caleb and Evelyn were packaging the shocklates that they had made into boxes that they planned to give to their friends.
Philip's squeals of delight upstairs confirmed what the teen couple thought would be the brunette's reaction to the secret admirer's letter as they both giggled.
