“Can I help you?” Daniel asks him, all American rudeness but with a grin that reminds Armand of a stupid twenty year old in a divey bar. He shakes himself from his reverie and moves over to perch on the edge of Daniel’s desk.
“Yes, I-” He breaks off, nervous. “I wanted to ask-”
Daniel waits, closing his book with the pen between the pages to mark his place and setting it on the desk. Armand just looks at him helplessly, words dying on his tongue.
