Chapter Text
#1 He has a halo
It all starts on a fall afternoon after classes. Shoto, Midoriya, and Hagakure have stayed behind to clean the classroom.
"It's been a tiring day," Hagakure complains as she wipes down Jiro's desk, trying to clean up the ink she spilled during the test.
"I know," Midoriya replies as he erases Ectoplasm's equations from the board. "I have to study for next week's test."
"We have to," Shoto corrects him while sweeping up the paper scraps under Kaminari's seat.
Hagakure lets out a groan of frustration, and suddenly, a dull thud echoes through the classroom. Her blouse shifts slightly, revealing that she just smacked herself in the forehead.
"Are you okay?" Shoto asks, not understanding what just happened.
"I hit myself because you two are among the top students! Of course, you'll pass without any problems!" Hagakure yells, clearly exasperated.
Midoriya laughs nervously. "It's not that easy. There's still a lot to study..."
"You always say that and then get perfect scores!" Hagakure protests, shaking her rag as if she wants to slap him with it. "Todoroki too, but he's weird, so he doesn’t count."
Shoto raises an eyebrow. "Thanks."
As they clean, Midoriya moves closer to the window to shake out the eraser. At that moment, a ray of sunlight passes through the glass and illuminates him from behind. His green hair shines with a golden glow.
Shoto stops.
Midoriya has a halo.
He blinks. The glow disappears. But the image is burned into his mind.
"Todoroki?" Midoriya looks at him in confusion.
"Nothing." Shoto resumes sweeping, but he can no longer ignore what he just saw. An angel is among us...
#2. He’s always helping others
Not only does he give advice, but he literally throws himself into danger without hesitation to protect his classmates. Suspicious.
Shoto has noticed it too many times.
When Aoyama gets caught in his own laser explosion during training, who rushes to help him before Cementoss can intervene? Midoriya.
When Sero trips and almost falls down the stairs, who jumps in like he’s in an action movie to grab him? Midoriya.
When Mineta is about to get hit in the face by a flying ball in gym class, who appears out of nowhere to deflect it with superhuman reflexes? Midoriya.
Nobody is that selfless without some kind of hidden agenda.
So one day, during lunch, Shoto decides to confront him.
"Midoriya, why do you always help everyone?" he asks, poking at his soba with his chopsticks.
"Huh? I don’t know..." Midoriya scratches the back of his neck, smiling awkwardly. "I guess I just want to do the right thing."
Shoto narrows his eyes. "Are you being forced?"
"What?" Midoriya blinks in confusion.
"Nothing." Shoto quickly looks away.
He can’t risk alerting him before he’s completely sure.
#3. He has superhuman endurance
Midoriya breaks his bones and keeps going. Shoto has seen people get hospitalized for much less, but somehow, Midoriya is always back on his feet after suffering multiple fractures.
This is not normal.
One day, after Midoriya walks out of the infirmary with a bandaged arm and a few visible bruises, Shoto decides to ask directly.
"How are you still alive?"
"Eh... what?" Midoriya blinks, caught off guard.
"Nothing."
Aizawa insists it’s "pure determination and effort," but Shoto suspects divine intervention.
So, he starts keeping a mental count of how many times Midoriya should have died—or at the very least, been out of commission.
"Midoriya, how many times have you nearly died this month?" he asks casually one day in the hallway.
"Hmm..." Midoriya counts on his fingers. "Five, I think."
Shoto just stares at him.
"Six if we count the incident with Kacchan in the cafeteria."
Shoto frowns. "What happened in the cafeteria?"
"I’d rather not talk about it..."
This only confirms Shoto’s suspicions.
#4. He glows when he gives motivational speeches
This is not a metaphor.
Shoto has noticed that every time Midoriya speaks with passion, there’s a strange glow around him. It’s subtle, but it’s there.
The first time it happens is during a training session where Iida is feeling down about messing up his technique. Midoriya approaches him and starts giving a speech about how effort and perseverance always pay off.
Shoto is about to ignore it when he sees it.
A soft glow, almost imperceptible, surrounding Midoriya as he speaks.
"We all have the power to improve if we work together," Midoriya says with conviction.
Shoto squints. Yes. He’s definitely glowing.
He leans toward Yaoyorozu, who is also listening.
"Do you see it?" he whispers.
"See what?"
"Midoriya. He’s glowing."
Yaoyorozu looks at him like he’s lost his mind.
"...What?"
Shoto frowns. "Nothing."
She keeps staring at him, clearly concerned.
It doesn’t matter. Shoto knows what he saw.
It’s an undeniable fact: every time Midoriya speaks from the heart, he emits a celestial glow.
#5. He Always Forgives, No Matter What – Suspiciously saint-like behavior.
Midoriya doesn’t hold grudges. Ever.
Shoto first notices this with Bakugo. Despite years of bullying, Midoriya still looks at him like he’s some misunderstood tragic figure instead of, well… a feral porcupine with anger issues.
Then there’s Monoma. Monoma insults Class 1-A daily. He directly mocks Midoriya. And yet, instead of getting mad, Midoriya just tilts his head and says, “I think he’s just insecure.”
Even when Mineta makes some weird comment about Uraraka’s costume, Midoriya—who should be furious—just sighs and gently scolds him.
Shoto tests this theory himself.
One day, during lunch, he casually steals one of Midoriya’s fries and waits for a reaction.
Midoriya just smiles and says, “Oh, you can have more if you want.”
…What kind of person reacts like that?!
If someone took Shoto’s soba, there would be consequences. Severe consequences.
This level of patience isn’t normal. It’s supernatural.
#6. He Sees Everything – His analysis skills are not normal.
Midoriya has an almost supernatural ability to read people, predict outcomes, and break down battle strategies like he has divine knowledge.
Shoto first notices it during training.
Midoriya watches a fight for ten seconds and suddenly knows everyone’s strengths, weaknesses, and most likely actions. He is right about everything.
This alone is suspicious. But then, Midoriya starts analyzing people’s emotions too.
"Iida is overcompensating," he says one day. "He’s upset but doesn’t want to show it."
Iida hasn’t said a single word about feeling upset.
"Uraraka is holding back in training. I think she’s worried about something."
Two days later, Uraraka admits she’s been stressing over money.
"Todoroki… are you okay?" Midoriya asks out of nowhere.
Shoto is literally just sitting there, saying nothing, doing nothing—and yet, Midoriya somehow knows.
Shoto frowns. "Why do you ask?"
Midoriya shrugs. "You just seem like you have a lot on your mind."
…This is not normal.
Conclusion: Midoriya Izuku is an angel. Probably a warrior archangel.
Do not confront him.
Risk of Midoriya disappearing if his true identity is discovered.
