    Hanahaki is not a flowering plant growing in your lungs. Not pretty petals covered in blood, coughed up in front of a crush. Not roots in your flesh, pollen in your blood, not fixed by a confession or a surgery.

    Hanahaki is a fungus, the spores growing, blooming to resemble a flower. The organism breaks the ribs, protruding from the patient's chest, in sick gorey flowers, sweet smelling as the blooms cover the corpse.

    There is no cure for Hanahaki, no treatment besides pain relief and fluids. No chance of survival. No hope for the unfortunate soul who was somehow infected. A slow, painful death filled with months in the hospital and coughing up blood. Some are fortunate enough to die in the first few weeks.

    Luckily enough, it was rare enough that there were less than 100 cases worldwide since its discovery.

    Although, fortune and luck were never on Izuku’s side.

    I love the way this fic gives so much depth to Denki and while reading this, I was so happy to see someone care for him so nicely and to stand up for him when he wasn't being treated properly.

    Midoriya Izuku has always been written off as weird. As if it's not bad enough to be the quirkless weakling, he has to be the weird quirkless weakling on top of it.

    But truthfully, the "weird" part is the only part that's accurate. He's determined not to be a weakling, and in spite of what it says on paper, he's not actually quirkless. Even before meeting All-Might and taking on the power of One For All, Izuku isn't quirkless.

    Not that anyone would believe it if he told them.

    An actual message I texted my friend as we gave each other updates when co-reading this fic together.

    I love this fic so dearly. There are so many amazing lines and character moments that make me feel like this author understands how to write complex individuals in ways that are both unforgiving (/pos) and allow for wondrous growth. Idk if that made sense but wow I love how PitViperOfDoom writes. This fic is funny, emotional, and mature in ways that’s hard for me to find (for what I'm personally looking to read) in a lot of fanfics.

    I have read this many times, and will continue to reread and recommend it in the future. I cry at the ending every damn time lol.

    Summary

    Izuku and Aizawa are caught in a loop of the USJ, dying and trying and failing over and over again until finally, finally, they break the cycle.

    But they're not the same as the reality that they've returned to, and with the events of a single day changed for only two people, a drop falls into the ink of their world, and the story rewrites itself from there.

    Aizawa should really consider not letting his kids off campus at all. It never goes well. He has enough nightmares about their past excursions gone-wrong. And dragging a half-frozen kid out of a frozen lake is definitely something that will haunt him forever.
