Work Text:

"No, no. You have to put the-god, I know what I'm doing this time, Prongs! Leave it be!" Sirius yelled, carefully pouring out amounts of different concerning substances into his cauldron and stirring.

"A-are you sure? Because, erm, the book we've got says we shouldn't stir until it turns green..." Peter mumbled nervously. All four of them had been trying out a new potion idea to potentially prank a couple Slytherins, and Remus was especially nervous, since McGonagall told them another prank would result in detention and a lot of points taken from Gryffindor.

"Oh, relax! If it goes wrong, we just pop it outside the Slytherin corridor and leave it! Who cares!" Sirius responded, his tone casual. James shoved him away, beginning to stir himself as the concoction inside the cauldron.

"I agree with Peter...this was pretty hard to get the ingredients for. What does it even do?" Remus asked, smiling at Peter reassuringly to help calm his nerves, despite the ones of his own bubbling in his stomach.

Almost instantly, Sirius stepped away from the cauldron, rolling his eyes. "I guess we should probably stop for now..."

James snickered at Sirius' response, shoving him. "I GuEsS we shHoUlD sToP. Mate, you're head over heels, hm?"

Sirius' pale face turned a crimson red quickly, rolling his eyes. "Oh-I- shut it, Prongs. Hmph." James laughed, nearly tipping over the cauldron. Even Peter giggled a little bit at the commotion. But Remus was practically burying himself in his sweater, embarrassment overcoming him.

A few months ago Sirius and Remus had been secretly dating, kissing in supply closets and sneaking off to the room of requirement, when Peter had caught the two, practically in a gangly mess of limbs. Of course Peter told James, as there was no secrets between all four of them, and the goodnatured teasing had continued ever since.

James rolled his eyes, before continuing the potion, just as Peter said nervously, "Ah, are you sure we're doing this right?"

"Oh, totally, don't you worry. I've got this-"

After a few moments of James assuring Peter, the potion practically blew up in the middle of his words, sending a green puff of smoke onto his face and staining his glasses. As he wiped them off with his sweater, popping them back on, he spotting Sirius and Remus, the two discreetly holding hands, Remus' hand squeezing Sirius' tight.

"Really, you two? Such lovebugs, Peter, amiright?..Alright, let's continue. Remus, could you lead us? I think that you know what you're doing, and plus, you over there keeps Sirius from being...distracted." James smirked, leaving Sirius to tackle him. Remus gave a small smile to Peter, who chuckled, and the two continued to set up attempt 2.

The prank worked wonders with Remus actually helping set up the potion this time, and Peter reading out the instructions, and whilst the Slytherins were trying to get rid of the buzzing screeches accompanied with a horrid smell, Remus and Sirius snuck off to the room of requirement, and this time, what happened a couple months ago in the Room of Requirement, but now, Peter was watching the Slytherin's reaction with James, leaving them to their own devices.
