It Starts With You

Summary:

The hole in his chest was his biggest reminder of what hes lost. But now, he needs a reminder that he's no longer alone.

Work Text:

Billy remembers so vividly of the sounds of broken glass ringing through his ears. He felt cracks tearing into his chest, and breaking apart the last parts of him that he could've sworn would have dragged him to his grave.

He stared down at his empty hands, his microphone sitting at his feet as he sat down. A large hole replaced his heart - it was once something that was taken away from him. Any melodies will not echo back, and will drown into the empty void, he thought.

But a familiar, high pitched voice was the only sound that came to mind. He turned to his side and met Boyfriend's gaze. He looked concerned, letting out small, questioning beeps and other intelligible noises.

Billy chuckled. "Sorry. I'm...just thinking about.." He trailed off, not being able to find the right words. His eyes wandered back to the sight of his own damaged hands.

That's when his counterpart grabbed his much larger hand in his. Billy always thought it was endearing that Boyfriend didn't care about his hands being cold all the time. He didn't mind the scars that made his skin so rough, either.

Billy slightly tilt his head to the side. "...What is it?"

Boyfriend shook his head and released a high pitched sigh. He lifted Billy's hand and places it flat on his chest. Billy flinched when he heard Boyfriend's slow heartbeat. He can feel can the steady beat of his heart traveling from the palm of his hand, in which spread out and sent vibrating-like shocks throughout his whole body.

The sensation was so familiar. It's the same feeling he gets as soon as he raises his microphone for his lips and begins to control the rhythm to however he wants it to be. It's the same feeling when he's harmonizing with his counterpart as the music flows through them and brings them closer. It's the same feeling of being alive again for the first time in years.

All of those things...feel just like his heartbeat. It's all the same. All of it traces back to who's infront of him.

Tears formed in Billy's eyes as a new melody began to fill his heart.
