    sonic decides that's hes "seeing" shadow, but in the romantic way! like tom would "see" maddie, and--you get it. although he wouldn't dare run the question past shadow, 


    it makes sense! sonic makes daily (albeit short) stops by shadow's cave, hangs out with him and goes back home to daydream about the guy and what theyre gunna do tomorrow! ergo, sonic is seeing shadow.
