Work Text:
Jaegal Lin’s love for his disciple was well-known — every time he encountered anyone at all, be it visitors from other clinics, other clans, or famous sects, he would not stop talking about his disciple.
It got so bad that several clans and sects were beginning to consider forming an alliance and write a petition for Jaegal Lin to please Shut Up and Stop Talking About Your Disciple. Yes, yes, his disciple was the best, the number one, the most intelligent, and their poor disciples could never ever compare…. Did he have to shove it in their faces all the time???
Compared to outsiders, though, the members and various staff of the White Dragon’s Clinic were much clearer on Jaegal Lin’s love for his disciple.
After all, they witnessed it every day.
If Jaegal’s love for his disciple had been crystal clear before, now, as his disciple was a baby, it seemed like Jaegal Lin physically couldn’t stop showering him with affection.
In any case, baby Cheonhee wouldn’t feel embarrassed, and would instead beam happily at Jaegal Lin whenever he was doted on…. If Jaegal Lin had tried to hire painters and buy numerous clothes for his adult disciple, Cheonhee would’ve tactfully refused… But baby Cheonhee?
He would simply coo and hug his Master, smiling sweetly at him…. Jaegal felt like he was raising a son and wanted to spoil him to the heavens!!!
The members of the White Dragon Clinic could see how much Jaegal Lin pampered his disciple, and over time, they realized how beneficial this could be for them.
Of course, they made sure to take full advantage of this….
Several staff members were huddled together in the pharmacy, biting their lips and wringing their hands.
They had made a mistake.
It was unclear how the problem started, but long story short, the medicinal herbs in the pharmacy had all been mixed up, weighed incorrectly, and even distributed wrongly to several customers. In this line of work, making a small mistake in the prescription would not just end in being fired…. They could lose their lives!
The staff members could only bow their heads helplessly and pray that the White Dragon Godly Doctor would have mercy on them….
The staff members heard the sound of footsteps, and a few daringly raised their heads for a split second.
It was the White Dragon Godly Doctor! He was here!
The man’s figure was tall and imposing, and his sharp eyes were like a hawk’s, surveying the entire room. The staff members couldn’t help trembling at the man’s grand entrance, feeling the weight of his aura crushing them—!
Jaegal Lin’s imposing demeanor, though, was weakened by a soft, milky voice.
“Mash-ter!” Baby Cheonhee cooed happily, nuzzling into Jaegal Lin’s embrace.
The ice in Jaegal Lin’s eyes melted and he stroked baby Cheonhee’s back gently.
“Yes, baby, I’m here…” The man’s voice was soft and gentle.
The staff members let out a small sigh of relief and glanced at each other — their lives were saved! The Young Master was here!!
Baby Cheonhee cooed in reply and fell silent.
“Tell me what happened,” Jaegal Lin spoke coldly, shifting baby Cheonhee’s position in his embrace.
A staff member stepped forward, shaking slightly as he began to retell the events and problems they had encountered. When the man finished talking, he clenched his fists and blinked harshly, acutely aware that Jaegal Lin was terrifying when he got angry.
“Useless,” Jaegal Lin spat coldly. “As a member of this clinic, how could you all do this? Have you forgotten your training? Have you no common sense?”
Each question that Jaegal Lin gave was like a hammer hitting the hearts of the staff members, making them quake in their positions.
His words were correct, and really, none of them could form a rebuttal. They were a medical clinic — the dosage of the medicine could determine a person’s life. Too much or too little, and the medicine could end up as a deadly poison that, in the best case scenario, did little harm to the patient, and, in the worst case scenario, ended up killing the person.
“We’re truly sorry, Sir,” a member of the clinic whispered, voice shaking with tremors.
Jaegal Lin’s eyes landed coldly on the man.
“Sorry? Will your pathetic apologies do any good?” Jaegal Lin snarled harshly. “Will it resurrect a man from death? You ignorant fools—”
“Mash-ter! Hung-wy!” Baby Cheonhee’s clear voice broke through the room, interrupting Jaegal Lin.
The baby was patting Jaegal Lin’s shoulder rather impatiently, spitting out Jaegal Lin’s hair (the staff members tried not to stare at the wet patch of drool on Jaegal Lin’s shoulder), and looking at Jaegal Lin pleadingly.
Hearing his disciple’s words, Jaegal Lin’s anger dissipated instantly, his emotions replaced with worry and fondness.
“You’re hungry?” Jaegal Lin’s eyes were soft as he pat Cheonhee’s hair.
“Yesh!” Baby Cheonhee nodded enthusiastically.
Down below, the staff members internally gave the Young Master a thumbs-up.
Keep this up, Young Master! Please!! We already know our wrongs, we can’t handle being scolded by the White Dragon Godly Doctor anymore!!!
As expected of the Young Master! The mere sound of his voice is enough to make flowers bloom and make ice melt!
Please save us from his wrath!!!
Baby Cheonhee, seemingly unaware that his actions were significantly important (and saving the lives of staff members!), tugged on Jaegal Lin’s sleeve impatiently.
“Eat, eat! Hee, wanna, eat!” Baby Cheonhee pouted, and Jaegal Lin nodded almost immediately.
“Alright, baby, of course you can eat. Let’s go, we’ll see what the chef is cooking today, okay?” Jaegal Lin’s tone was so warm and kind that the staff members below couldn’t help feeling goosebumps on their arms.
Wasn’t the White Dragon Godly Doctor growling harshly at them before?? The shift in tone was too much, alright?!
“O-key!” Baby Cheonhee grinned, wrapping his arms around Jaegal Lin’s neck.
Smiling at his disciple, Jaegal Lin walked out of the room briskly, talking about the various foods they could try for lunch. Behind his back, baby Cheonhee winked cheekily at a staff member, giving him a thumbs up.
When the staff member blinked again, though, baby Cheonhee was already lying peacefully on Jaegal’s shoulder, as if what he had just seen was simply an illusion…
Strange, it seemed as if… the Young Master had done that on purpose to save them… But surely that couldn’t be it?! The man didn’t think much of it.
Once Jaegal Lin was out of sight, the staff members let out a huge sigh of relief.
Thank goodness…
“…The meeting is over for now,” Yooho said, eyeing the staff members coldly. “I trust that this mistake will not happen again.”
“Yes!” The staff members nodded like chicken pecking rice.
“Alright, get back to work,” Yooho gestured, and, as if granted amnesty, the staff members hurriedly dispersed.
Yooho, on the other hand, sighed deeply. “…How could the Master immediately forget about everyone once the Young Master speaks? It’s like he doesn’t even remember that we exist…”
Unlike Yooho, though, the staff members gave each other high-fives and grinned sheepishly.
“The Young Master is indeed the best!”
“Hahaha, you’re right… One look, one small sound from him, and the White Dragon Godly Doctor forgets everything else…”
“The rest of the world fades away and he only remembers his disciple, haah…”
“Well, it’s a good thing though, right?”
“It is, in times like these… but…” A staff member paused.
“What are you thinking?” His friend asked, jostling his shoulder.
“Have you ever thought about what will happen if the Young Master so much as gets a scratch on his finger?”
The other staff members shuddered violently.
“Oh god…”
“If that happens, not just us, but the entirety of the Gangho will feel his wrath…”
“Well, you can bet on that…”
The atmosphere grew silent for a while, everyone imagining how the White Dragon Godly Doctor would burn the world down if his disciple got hurt. At that time, all of them would probably have to work overtime… Haah…
“Anyway!” A staff member clapped her hands together. “Let’s not think about that! In any case, the Young Master is our lucky charm!”
“Yes, yes,” the other members broke into smiles. “The Young Master is our lucky charm!”
Lucky charm…
Well, if Jaegal Lin heard them say these words, he wouldn’t agree.
Cheonhee wasn’t just their lucky charm.
He was Jaegal’s lucky charm.
His most precious disciple.
