He's a SuperVillain, What Did You Expect?

Summary:

Tumblr prompt

LexCorp has a monpoly over something thanks to all kinds of shady deals. Sam is determined to find details of said shady deals and send them to Lois Lane for an expose. Danny gets roped into being the one to actually break in and look for said details.

Neither of them were expecting Red Robin to be doing the exact same thing.

Work Text:

“Sam, are you sure this is a good idea?” Danny asked, floating outside LexCorp.

Sam’s voice crackled over the comm.

“Oh, come on Danny, it’s not any different than going after Vlad.”

Danny shifted nervously, because yes, this was very different from his usual break-into-Vlad’s-super-secret-lair-and-fuck-shit-up.

This was Lex Luthor, a Supervillain who regularly gave the Justice League a run for their money and Danny was having serious doubts about this.

But Sam had asked him to help.

And Danny had a hard time telling his friends no.

“You’re sure this drive will get us the information we want, Tuck?”

“Dude, are you really doubting my abilities now?”

Danny just let the silence hang.

“Ok, fine. Technus helped. But it will work!”

The halfa just sighed.

“Ok guys, I’m going mute until I’m out or things go off the rails.”

There’s sounds of agreement and Danny is left in relative quiet then he’s floating, invisible and intangible, through the LexCorp complex before he completely loses his nerve.

It’s alarmingly simple to evade the security – both human and machine. The real problem starts when he gets to Luthor’s office to find it already occupied.

Red Robin is hunched over the computer, typing furiously and muttering to himself.

Danny… isn’t sure what to do right now. They hadn’t anticipated any other heroes being here. Which was pretty stupid on their part, because, you know, supervillain. Of course other heroes would be sniffing around.

The best course of action would probably be turning around and hightailing it out of here.

Well, never let it be said that Danny always followed the best course of action.

He floated right across from the frustrated birdie and dropped his invisibility.

“Need some help there, bird-boy?”

It was very funny to watch Red Robin jump back in startlement.

It was less funny when a batarang sailed right through his chest.
