Work Text:
Ebisu Isaburou.
He is a god, the god of luck. He likes Mii-kun, his cute little brother who is a bit rebellious. He likes Yuuta, who has taken care of him all this time, his safe place.
He hates yokai, especially Toubyou, the snake that stole Yuuta's attention. He hates humans, hates Abe Haruaki, who made Sano only care about him... That's the truth that Ebisu has always thought, he just didn't know... Friendship is such an unexpected thing.

Izuna Hatanaka.
An animal yokai, he is so stupid that even Ebisu doubts the reason why he was accepted as a teacher. Hatanaka, that civet always acts like he is a serious teacher, but he is even more childish than the students of the school.
But, he also had good points that Ebisu couldn't deny, Hatanaka's suspiciously sensitive and perceptive nature made Ebisu surprisingly comfortable.
"Ebisu-sensei, let's have lunch together?"
"Ah...yes, sure."
Ebisu replied with his usual smile, after a long time, he had unconsciously agreed to Hatanaka's request. The teacher adjusted his glasses, helped Ebisu clean up the documents, then went to the dining room together, ordering food for both of them.
The two of them sat in a corner with few people passing by and ate lunch together. The school lunch was indeed very nutritious, including the dishes Ebisu liked and hated. And at that moment, Hatanaka's perceptiveness appeared again.
"How's Ebisu-sensei doing? Is teaching class 2-3 with Haruaki still going well?"
"Well, Abe-sensei is still causing trouble for the class."
Hatanaka asked as he put the dishes Ebisu hated on his plate, then transferred the dishes Ebisu liked to the plate of the god of luck. Seeing the dishes he hated gradually disappear and the dishes he liked gradually increase made Ebisu's tired mood relax a bit.
The annoying thing is that both Ebisu and Hatanaka have gotten used to it. The animal yokai who sometimes even misspells the words actually remembers what Ebisu likes and dislikes, while the god of luck who is always wary and annoyed with yokai can relax and let Hatanaka do everything.
The two of them had become surprisingly close, perhaps due to Hatanaka's paternal instincts or Ebisu's desire to be pampered. Whatever it was, the conclusion was simple. Ebisu seemed to accept Hatanaka, as an acquaintance.

Miki Rintarou.
Their relationship? One word to describe: [Hate.]. Two words to describe: [Super hate.]
Ebisu hated him, that damned one-horned oni. That oni had actually tried to threaten him the first time they met?! Teasing and badmouthing him all sorts of things (though he would naturally retaliate). If someone asked Ebisu why he hated yokai, he would bring up that Miki as evidence of how hateful yokai were in general and oni in particular.
Miki was a combination of everything he hated, knowing too much, always scolding him whenever he and Izuna exchanged food, always calling him childish and arguing whenever they had a chance to be alone. That Miki guy was also a terrible friend-obsessed person, he acted like the god of luck wanted to hurt Izuna and Haruaki. How hateful, it seemed like nothing could change his mind...it seemed like...
Ebisu wandered around the school's hallways during his free time, watching the yokai students gather to eat and play together, until unfamiliar voices came from his hidden corner.
"Hey, that Ebisu-sensei is so fake. He's always pretending to be smart, it's disgusting to watch."
"What's wrong bro? Oh, you're jealous of him. Haha, no one told you that you're not as good as him, so your crush likes him instead of you."
"Shut up, I don't know what good she sees in that fake guy, he is also a terrible teacher, I don't understand why he is so popular."
A normal conversation about badmouthing teachers, of course students will sometimes have a period of time when they hate and want to badmouth a certain teacher. Ebisu understood, but that didn't mean his childish nature would give in. He pursed his lips, clenched his fists, and was about to go out to punish these students who were letting their mouths go too far, but the sudden sound of their screams made Ebisu unconsciously hide behind the wall, staring blankly at that place.
"Miki-sensei!? What are you doing??"
"It hurts! Why are you hitting us all of a sudden? We didn't say anything bad about Abe-sensei or Hatanaka-sensei??"
The two students who were badmouthing Ebisu were both lying on the ground, and Miki, who had just kicked them, was standing with his arms crossed in front of them. A mocking smile appeared on his face as he glared at each of them.
"Hmm? You dare to speak without getting punished? Which teacher taught you to talk bad about others behind their backs?"
"Agh.."
"...Ugh! Miki-sensei, why are you pretending to be because of Ebisu-sensei? We know you don't like him!"
The other student angrily argued back, but when he met Miki's cold eyes, the other student shut his mouth. Miki kicked the other two students again, making them shut their mouths, and then spoke in a cold voice.
"I admit, I hate him, I hate his personality, I hate his fake smile. But I admit his teaching ability, you stupid students have no right to speak ill of him, watch your mouth."
"Yes..."
Miki coldly turned away, leaving two students rolling around on the floor and a bewildered god eavesdropping from afar.
..Ebisu hates Miki, always has, still has, and only has....probably...
Ebisu unconsciously laughed, now he understood why Abe always said Miki was cold on the outside but warm on the inside...what a hateful child.
Ebisu hates Miki, but it will ease up a bit for now ^ ^

Abe Haruaki.
Ebisu hated this man, he hated Abe's savior-like kindness, he hated the way he kept sacrificing himself, he hated the way he smiled stupidly, he hated Mii-kun comparing him to him.
Ebisu hates Haruaki, because he has experienced...and he is annoyed. Why is this person always so kind, why is he like a little sun that shines on everything and accidentally invades the private world of the god of luck?
“Huh? Ebisu-sensei don’t like this dish?”
Then he took the dish that Ebisu hated, even though it was obvious that Haruaki also hated the dish. But he ate it all out of respect for the chef.
"Ebisu-sensei, do you need my help?"
Then he jumped in to help with everything, even though Ebisu didn't even ask for help. Haruaki was like a fairy who would always come and help everyone like that... annoying.
"AGH!!!! GHOST?! Ebisu-sensei! Hold me tight."
Ebisu held Haruaki's shoulders tightly, letting this idiotic teacher protect him from this scary haunted house. Even though Haruaki-sensei always acted unreliable, the way he protected Ebisu was sometimes very trustworthy.
"Ebisu-sensei? Ebisu-sensei! Ebisu-sensei?!"
Haruaki's voice kept repeating over and over again, so useless and...glaring, his smile became brighter every time he called his name. As if Haruaki's power wasn't to exorcise demons, but to eliminate the negativity within him..
Sighing once more, Ebisu wondered what his heart was trying to do...

"Kurahashi! What are you looking at?"
"Ah, it's nothing Toubyou, let's go practice basketball."
Kurahashi smiled and pushed Toubyou away, but his eyes unconsciously looked elsewhere, where four teachers were talking to each other. His eyes were focused on only one person, a teacher with braided black hair, smiling a bit fakely as he mocked Miki-sensei.
For those who weren't too familiar with Ebisu, they probably wouldn't notice anything unusual. But it was Kurahashi, he noticed it. Ebisu's smile...was more genuine.
"You're...already immersed...good for you, Ebisu."
