Work Text:

Kirishima

[Dry thembos] Ashido Mina
Daily reminder to apply cream and have some water :)

Kirishima smiled stiffly at the text. Now was really not the time. He put the phone back in his pocket and focused on the TV again.

‘The building was this close to tumbling over if it weren’t for the earth-bending gall and her glass-bending sidekick,’ a civilian was being interviewed. Behind him, the aftermaths of a glimpse of hell. Dark fumes, soot marks where fire had been, crumpled black things on the ground, firefighters and water-Quirk heroes going left and right, yellow and black police tape, sounds of ambulances, Bakugou had been leaving the scene only a dozen minutes before.

Kirishima thought he should’ve been called to help, he knew fire, he was trained to bear with it, his Quirk made him almost immune to it. Yes he had to make sure he didn’t use his Quirk for too long, didn’t use if for his eyes, didn’t forget to take care of his skin afterwards. But he was used to it, after almost five years being a pro hero, he knew his Quirk, he knew what he was capable of.

But there might’ve been closer heroes for that, he was on the other side of the city. Left to do nothing but watch on TV until Bakugou would reply to his texts asking if everything was alright.

The news on TV never gave the entire story. Hell, they only ever asked civilians at the beginning, it was the only info they could get as heroes had no right to talk to journalists until the case was opened to the public.

[Sent a photo]

Kirishima put the phone in his pocket again, sighing. Not opening the chat. Any buzz from his phone could be Bakugou replying to his anxiety filled texts.

‘You alright kiddo?’ The bartender frowned at him. ‘Got a coworker on the case?’ He gestured at the TV in the corner.

‘Yeah, sort of.’

Coworker” was an understatement. This coworker was the person he woke up to every morning and went to sleep with every night, but fine.

‘They’re probably alright, right? The mean guy got arrested after all?’

It was never about what happened to the villain, Kirishima thought, it was about the number of victims left in the wake of battle. He didn’t voice that. He shook his head.

‘Yeah, they’re probably alright.’

His phone buzzed again. He fished it from his pocket. The bartender went back to drying glasses and ordering them behind on the shelves. The TV still blaring. Kirishima had asked for the sound to be turned on.

[Dry thembos] Sero Hanta
Can’t moisturise rn, case under way

And, yeah, Todoroki had been called, Kirishima had seen a glimpse of him on TV as well, he’d stopped the flaming tornado. Sero was probably with him at the moment. He opened the group chat.

The photo was Ashido and Kaminari on video call downing two water bottles, both shining all over from the cream. Oblivious to Kirishima’s hellish spiralling thoughts. He scrolled down till the last message, Sero’s text. And replied.

[Dry thembos] Kirishima Eijirou
Everything alright? Tornado man case?

[Dry thembos] Ashido Mina
Tornado man?

[Dry thembos] Kirishima Eijirou
It’s on TV

[Dry thembos] Sero Hanta
Shouto got some glass shards but he’ll be alright

[Dry thembos] Kirishima Eijirou
News from Bakugou?

[Dry thembos] Sero Hanta
Filling paperwork

Kirishima, again, put the phone in his pocket. No real news from Bakugou. But at least Todoroki was going to be alright.

‘In light of these testimonies and while waiting for police departments to release a proper report of the incident, we only have to hope the opponent is now in custody and the victims are safe. Now, again, let’s look at the recordings we have at the moment.’

The TV turned grey and orange again. The tornado in a shaky focus. Bakugou blasting through. Civilians screaming over the screech of wind. The vague and distant sound of an ambulance. A Quirk-incident siren. Was Bakugou alright? Was any life lost in the weather tantrum? Had the ambulances come on time?

Kirishima shook his head. Typed a new text on the group chat. Is he alright? Deleted it. Sighed. Gazed at the TV again. And got out of the bar, waving goodbye at the man behind the counter.

Out in the street. The Sun shining. Clear sky. Pedestrians passing by, calmly. Oblivious to whatever hell was happening on the other side of the city.

He contemplated calling Bakugou. But maybe that was stupid. So he didn’t. Filling paperwork. That had to mean he was alright. Sero would’ve texted something like Injured or In the infirmary were Bakugou not alright, right?

He walked around a little. No threat. No attack. No villain. He could only wait.

His phone rang, at some point. Special ringtone. Katsuki’s. Kirishima answered the call right away.

Sero

[Dry thembos] Ashido Mina
Daily reminder to apply cream and have some water :)

Sero had been using the emergency elevator, running down corridors, all the way to the infirmary room on the ground floor. He pushed the door open with a shoulder, checking Ashido’s text at the same time, it could’ve been entirely different news. But Todoroki was right there when he lifted his eyes. Alive.

‘Hanta,’ he whispered, eyes coming to life, a nurse and a sidekick with him, inspecting him.

He was bleeding, slightly, but in quite a few places. On his face, on his neck, arms, hands, torso. Even his pants were getting redder and redder in some places, Sero could've sworn. The upper part of his costume had been removed.

‘Are you alright? What happened? I saw the news, how do you feel?’ Sero didn’t stop at the door, coming to inspect him himself.

He didn’t dare touching him, hands flying about his face, hovering.

‘I’ll be fine. A tornado, I don’t know exactly. They told me not to listen to anyone, to barge in and stop the guy no matter the cost.’

‘Excuse us Cellophane, we have to proceed or the bleeding won’t stop,’ the nurse nudged him, Sero stepped aside. Todoroki lifted a hand towards him. The cold one. Fingers intertwined.

‘It’ll sting,’ the sidekick warned, the nurse nodding along. ‘I’ll extract them one by one so you can patch him up at the same time,’ she turned to the nurse.

Todoroki looked at him with that spark he always had when they were together. And the sidekick started so extract the shards. One by one. Glass-bending Quirk. He winced a little.

‘Ashido sent a text on the dry skin chat,’ Sero huffed a laugh, taking his phone out. His free hand was one the side of his injured elbow, it stung a little. Tendonitis. It happened. Quirk downsides.

Todoroki chuckled. ‘Right moment to moisturise indeed.’

[Dry thembos] Ashido Mina
[Sent a photo]

‘Look she even sent a pic with Kaminari,’ he extended the phone.

Another shard, one of his eyes flinched. Though he did smile at the picture.

Sero typed a short excuse and put the phone away, focusing on the shard removing process.

‘So you don’t know what happened before you got there?’

Todoroki shook his head slightly. The nurse and sidekick going down one of his shoulders.

‘It was hell, that’s all I’ve picked up. People screaming. Flaming tornado. And Bakugou blasting through for some reason. I don’t know. Froze the guy in place. Tornado faded. Police and firefighters came in. That’s it.’

‘Got pretty badly injured though.’

Todoroki shrugged. ‘I’ll be fine.’ Another shard. Another flinch. Another spray of antiseptic. Another bandaid. ‘I should fill paperwork right now.’

Sero huffed a laugh. ‘Do I have to remind you you’re still covered in glass shards?’

‘The faster it’s filled, the sooner police departments can study the case.’

‘That’s one way to look at it,’ Sero smiled.

He let go of Todoroki’s hand to get to a cabinet. Surely there were some report sheets in the infirmary, Shouto was a time management freak after all. And there they were, of course. Stored in a neat pile on a corner. He got a pen from the nurse, and went back aside Todoroki, starting to fill in the fields for him. They held hands again.

Hero : Todoroki Shouto (Shouto, frost and fire)
Aggressor : name unknown
Quirk : tornado
Victims :

‘How many victims are there?’

Todoroki stared off in the distance. Shaking his head slightly.

‘I’d say around thirty. What do you think, Fragments?’ He turned to the sidekick guiding the bloodied shards one by one into a metallic bowl at the side.

‘I’d say about thirty too, police agrees. Maybe more, many escaped to save themselves.’ Another click from a shard hitting the metal. She turned to his arm again, going for another one. Antiseptic spray. Bandaid ripped open. ’6 injured were sent to the hospital.’

Around 30 then. He squeezed Todoroki’s hand lightly. Comforting, he hoped.

He smiled from Todoroki returning the squeeze.

Victims : around 30, of which 6 in the hospital.
Place : sector 32
Time :

Sero checked his phone. 15:22. New texts on the group chat.

[Dry thembos] Kirishima Eijirou
Everything alright? Tornado man case?

[Dry thembos] Ashido Mina
Tornado man?

[Dry thembos] Kirishima Eijirou
It’s on TV

Kirishima must’ve been freaking out if he’d heard of the case on TV. Everyone wondering why Dynamight had joined a battle in which his Quirk was so vain. Sero couldn’t really understand either. Even Todoroki himself seemed unsure. Journalists must’ve made it all look like this year’s worst hero intervention.

[Dry thembos] Sero Hanta
Shouto got some glass shards but he’ll be alright

[Dry thembos] Kirishima Eijirou
News from Bakugou?

‘Bakugou’s up the administration floor right now, right?’ He asked, meeting Todoroki’s eyes again.

Todoroki nodded slightly.

[Dry thembos] Sero Hanta
Filling paperwork

He stored his phone away and went back to the paper. Duration.

‘How long before the end did you get there?’

‘I don’t know.’

‘I’d say about five minutes before the villain was taken down,’ Fragments noted.

Todoroki shook his head. ’They were two, though, I’ve heard.’

Two? That would need another paper. Sero eyed the pile. He didn’t particularly want to get up again.

‘Let’s focus on tornado man for now then? There’ll be a police debriefing anyway.’

Todoroki and Fragments nodded.

Duration : about 5 minutes
Heroes intervening : Fragments, Dynamight, WaterTank, PixieBob
Aggressor captured : yes
Physical injury of the hero : glass shards,

‘Got any other injury?’ Sero lifted his eyes to Todoroki again.

Todoroki flinched at yet another extracted shard. And shook his head. Sero scribbled over the coma.

Physical injury of the hero : glass shards

‘There you go,’ Fragments called, taking the metallic bowl to a counter of the infirmary. ‘I can’t feel any shard anymore.’

The nurse hummed. ‘The blood on your legs is either due to your Quirk, or due to your other wounds that soaked the fabric,’ she noted, taking her gloves off and throwing them into the bin. ‘Take care of the cuts and they’ll heal alright.’

Sero and Todoroki nodded.

‘Is the paper complete?’ Fragments asked, gesturing at the sheet in Sero’s hand with her chin.

‘It is yeah, you going to the admin office?’

She grabbed a sheet on the pile and made a move for Sero to give his and the pen. He obliged.

‘I’ll bring it up to them, Todoroki looks like some emotional support might be welcome. You two should take some time off. Was pretty fucked up over there.’

He looked at Todoroki. Hands still linked. He hadn’t moved. The nurse went out the door. Sero nodded. Fragments left as well.

The room seemed out of time. The world on pause.

‘You going to be alright?’

Todoroki nodded. He squeezed their hands and pulled slightly. Sero bent down a little. Todoroki looked like an actor for a science-fiction movie, all covered in band-aids here and there.

He kissed his lips, slowly, not daring to touch him with his free hand. Todoroki squeezed their hands once more, smiling against his lips. His free hand went up to Sero’s hair. He smelled of ashes and antiseptic.

They could be called any second on a case. Sero didn’t care. In his fair opinion, they did deserve some downtime after all this stress. Duty or not.

Kaminari

[Dry thembos] Ashido Mina
Daily reminder to apply cream and have some water :)

The screen stayed on for a couple seconds, and turned dark again.

Were Kaminari a law guy, he would’ve already automatised the whole report-paperwork-thingy ages ago. Alas, he was no such guy.

That hell of a case required three different sheets of paper. Three. And while filling them could be treated as a way of coming down from the battle in question, that still took some unnecessary amount of paper, and time that could be used to patrol again. You know, saving civilians and all. The actual hero work. Not form filling.

Hero : Kaminari Denki (ChargeBolt, electricity)
Aggressor : Ito Kasai
Quirk : fire balls from hands
Victims : 6 injured, of which 4 in the hospital

The other two sheets had globally the same info. Only name and Quirk were different, the fields were empty. And the custody status. He sighed and looked out his office window. He would’ve already been out again were the administrative work not so tedious.

‘You really think fire makes you immune to electricity, man?’ Kaminari had asked, crouched down, hands on the power line, charging up his body.

Static on the radio, for all he knew he might be alone for that fight. Electricity did that sometimes, jammed with his radio receiver.

The fire guy approached, fire ball growing in the pit of one hand. Wicked smile. But all villains had the same smile really. Ill-tempered. Bad-willing.

‘I think fire beats electricity.’

Clearly the guy had never had the satisfaction of Bakugou jumping in surprise at getting zapped.

Kaminari was yellow all over. His entire vision blurred because of the electricity. The glasses came in handy. Calibrating so the guy came in clear focus. Sight assistance. He let go of the power line and stood up straight. Cracklings of lightning.

‘Fire clearly doesn’t beat electricity. Lemme show you.’ And he unleashed it.

The ADHD meds had helped a lot since graduating Yuuei. A brain really was just meat, water, and electricity. Somehow, they helped regulating the transition moments before and after electric shocks, grounding him.

The guy had the time for one ball of fire before electricity reached him and stuck him in place. He screamed for a second, they all did, until he realised it wasn’t painful. Come on. Kaminari wasn’t a torturer, he knew the right voltage to put someone in place causing the minimum amount of pain.

But what now? The static on the radio persisted. And no one was around to collect that guy.

His two gang friends had disappeared somewhere, so two villains were also roaming the streets freely at the moment.

Kaminari looked left and right, hands still electrifying the fire guy. He took out a pair of handcuffs. Heroes weren’t supposed to arrest villains. Sometimes they had to. The guy couldn’t resist when he cuffed him.

The two families of three stood on a side. Two people holding their arms in the nearby fountain. The four others crouched in the water. In pain. Fire burns. If an ambulance didn’t get there in the next five minutes, they would all get permanent body damage. Kaminari cursed.

And as if by some miracle, the static ended.

‘SECTOR 32 EMERGENCY,’ someone screamed on the radio. Cracklings of wind, or fire, and screams behind the voice. ‘ALL WATER OR FROST QUIRKS IN THE VICINITY DEMANDED. FIREFIGHTERS AND MEDICS ON THE WAY. POLICE ALREADY ON ZONE.’

Another voice screamed ‘DYNAMIGHT! STOP BLASTING HIM! WARM AIR RISES!’

‘I KNOW I’VE TOLD-‘

Kaminari winced and changed lines to 20-29. His call would be received in another sector but 30-39 was clearly overflowing.

‘ChargeBolt in sector 31, demanding one police squad and two ambulances ASAP. Fire Quirk. 6 injured. Over.’

‘Here sector 28, demand sent to authorities. They’re on the way. We sent your position. Over.’

His phone rang. He jumped. His bland office. Three sheets of paper. Two names and two Quirks missing. Sun rays running along the walls. Ashido’s name lighting up the screen.

‘Hey bro,’ her gleaming face appeared. ‘Didn’t receive my text?’

He laughed. ‘I did, I did, just filling a report.’

‘Go get that cream and water, safety first my guy.’

He huffed a laugh. ‘Right. Right, hold on.’ He got up to a drawer and retrieved the damned cream.

Static electricity could be some pain in the ass at times. Hair flying in all directions, lower humidity levels all over the skin, easily dehydrated and all. ‘Day off today right?’

She hummed and nodded on the screen. ‘Fucking bliss after yesterday’s primary school mess.’

He laughed.

Ashido

[Dry thembos] Ashido Mina
Daily reminder to apply cream and have some water :)

Ashido sent the text as she battled with the front door. That bitch of a door and its lock getting on her nerves.

Technically speaking, she could’ve just blasted some acid through the keyhole and let it melt that fucker from the inside until the sack of balls gave in.

The dog, Emi, whined, looking at her struggling. Ashido took a deep breath and sighed.

‘I’m trying my best, girl, okay?’ She smiled tiredly. ‘Kami’s door is a pain in the ass every time, you know that. I’ll just call the locksmith myself someday,’ she eyed the monstrous lock again. ‘What if he plans to get laid and can’t even get through the door, eh? Shame, really.’

The dog opened her mouth, tongue out, as if smiling.

Ashido faced the door again.

It gave in a couple other minutes later. Emi strode to her toys and dog mattress as Ashido took her shoes off. She tossed the keys on the kitchen table. Opened a window. Went through some cabinet, retrieved smelly bites of dog food, and gave them to her. Scratched her ears.

Kaminari and her had both wanted a dog when they first started their pro-hero journey, yet with the amount of time being a pro required, and the recurring life-or-death situations, they figured giving a dog two homes could be a great solution.

So they got Emi, sweet golden retriever, light of their life and all. Took turns walking and hosting her, she was overjoyed to get everything twice, and the walk from one flat to the other went through a park, she loved it.

Well. Okay, yeah, they did live in the same building though, Ashido just loved taking Emi out in the park before getting her to Kaminari’s flat. Maybe their neighbour-situation made it ten thousand times easier than sharing a dog and living on opposite sides of the city. But anyway.

Ashido went to the bathroom to get Kaminari’s moisturising cream, and plopped on the sofa before applying the thing on her arms, hands, and face.

No one had replied to her text yet.

She called the electric guy. Either he couldn’t answer, then fine, he was on duty after all; or he could and she’d get to scold him for not replying when the ”daily reminder” thing had been his idea in the first place.

Kaminari’s office ceiling and upper strands of hair appeared.

‘Hey bro, didn’t receive my text?’

He laughed. ‘I did, I did. Just filling a report.’ His face entered the screen, he looked absolutely drained. Tired eyes and all.

‘Go get that cream and water, safety first my guy.’

‘Right. Right,’ he huffed a laugh. ‘Hold on.’ And the blond hair disappeared.

Drawer and cabinet noises. A lid popped open.

‘Day off today, right?’

She hummed. ‘Fucking bliss after yesterday’s primary school mess.’

Quirks’ first manifestations could be a nightmare at times. One could only imagine what a laughter inducing Quirk could cause in a primary school. The kids and teachers couldn’t stop, cramps and all. The thing stopped being funny about five minutes in honestly, when Ashido couldn’t even get a message through the hero radio. Being able to call Nighthide for hypnosis had taken absolute ages.

Kaminari laughed on the phone. ‘How is Emi?’

‘An angel, as always.’ And yeah she was, rolling on the floor with a toy of hers in the mouth, joyful.

Ashido looked at the screen again, Kaminari’s glistening face, drinking water from a bottle. She took a screenshot and sent it on the group chat.

[Dry thembos] Sero Hanta
Can’t moisturise rn, case under way

‘Hey! I have a case under way too,’ Kaminari laughed, offended.

Ashido laughed too, up until the next text popped.

[Dry thembos] Kirishima Eijirou
Everything alright? Tornado man case?

Ashido frowned. Kirishima always joked about everything on the group chat. Always. The only exception being when something major was happening. Kaminari had stopped laughing, too.

[Dry thembos] Ashido Mina
Tornado man?

[Dry thembos] Kirishima Eijirou
It’s on TV

And Sero wasn’t seeing the messages anymore.

‘What is happening?’ Kaminari whispered. Noises of him looking for his office TV remote.

Ashido did the same in the flat, turning the TV on to the first information channel she could find.

Orange was the first color she saw. Orange and grey. A mix of ambulance and Quirk-incident sirens. Police officers shouting orders. Wind lashing. And the unmistakable sound of Bakugou’s explosions.

BREAKING NEWS : TORNADO QUIRK DEVASTATING AN ENTIRE BLOCK, PRO-HERO DYNAMIGHT AGGRAVATED THE SITUATION

[Dry thembos] Sero Hanta
Shouto got some glass shards but he’ll be alright

[Dry thembos] Kirishima Eijirou
News from Bakugou?

Bakugou hadn’t seen any of the messages. That couldn’t be right.

‘So that’s what happened in sector 32,’ Kaminari spoke, barely above a murmur, in shock. He was still looking at the TV, the camera of the video-call off center.

‘What happened?’

‘The radio. When I was dealing with some fire ball guy, they were calling for every cold or frost Quirk in reinforcement. Had to make my own call on another line cause the 30-39 was clogged with emergency calls.’

‘And Bakugou had been called on the case?’ Ashido couldn’t really get how an explosive Quirk could help on a tornado case.

[Dry thembos] Sero Hanta
Filling paperwork

Kaminari shook his head on the screen, looking at Ashido again. ‘No, he was already there, I don’t know, they were scolding him for firing.’

He must be alright if Sero said he was doing paperwork.

‘Maybe he’d been there from the very beginning of the attack?’

Kaminari shrugged. ‘Can’t know, the radio was buzzing when I was catching the guy, they were calling emergency when I could finally reach everyone.’

‘And what if it were buzzing for everyone?’ Ashido wondered.

A beat of silence.

‘I’ll text Sero,’ Kaminari nodded. ‘He probably knows, with Todoroki.’

Bakugou

[Dry thembos] Ashido Mina
Daily reminder to apply cream and have some water :)

Bakugou sighed. And put the phone back in his pocket. It emitted a series of noises again.

He sighed again. And put the phone on Do Not Disturb. It stopped emitting series of noises.

The blond lightning fucker had started this whole group chat, being the last one to realise Quirks had downsides, and the five of them did share similar ones. Such was hero work. Quirks did have their limits.

Hero : Bakugou Katsuki (Dynamight, explosion)
Aggressor : no name
Quirk : wind inducing, tornado
Victims :

How many victims had there been again? Bakugou could barely hold the pen to jot down the report, forearms stiff. Tap tap tap. He turned the page around. Legal instructions.

In case of multiple pages, page numbers may be indicated at the bottom right of each page.

He sighed. Turned the page back around.

Quirk : wind inducing, tornado
Victims :

He had better things to do. The bleeper could go off any minute, he was still on duty. There might be some villain out there against whom he could be actually useful. The former battle was still running around in his head. On loop.

‘Dynamight! Stop blasting him! Warm air rises!’ The radio had blared.

They’d waited fucking ages to tell him. Contradictory orders. Bakugou stopped in his tracks, frustration rising just like that goddamned warm air. The tornado bursts lashing out. Debris flying. Ignited shards of glass threatening to finish the destruction in their peak.

‘I know, I’ve told you! Who the fuck told me to push through? Why the fuck calling me in if I’m fucking useless?’

Icyhot ran past him. People had been screaming for a while now, the cold fucker was only just getting there.

‘We don’t know, the radio lines are unreliable for now, Aircon was just called.’

Bakugou put the pen down. Extended and retracted his fingers, flexing his fist. Knuckles hurting plenty. The skin, indeed, dry. He took a deep breath.

He’d been given an empty room to fill paperwork. A metallic table. A metallic chair. Small window. Glass door. Could’ve been a custody room really.

People were going this way and that behind the glass door of the office. The Todoroki agency. Formerly Endeavor’s. Icyhot hadn’t wanted it at the time, but he’d also needed a job. He’d taken the building, shut down Endeavor’s agency, built a new one, and hired practically the same people. Dumbass move really, Bakugou thought.

‘You done with the papers?’ Some sidekick cracked the door ajar. Glass control Quirk. Came in late in the battle.

‘How many victims?’

She glanced down her own paper, hand leaving the doorknob. ‘Police said around 30 injured, 6 of them sent to the hospital.’

At least nobody had died in that hell.

‘”Around 30” isn’t a number,’ he shook his head and looked down his paper again.

‘I know, I asked but they don’t know.’

‘What’d Icyhot put on his report?’

‘Around 30.’

Fucking ”around 30” it was gonna be then. He hummed in acknowledgement. The woman didn’t move.

‘What?’

‘You’ve got some glass shards on your face. Can feel them.’

Bakugou sighed, refraining from rolling his eyes. ‘I don’t care.’ Kirishima could take care of them later. He thought of the scrunched eyes Kirishima had when focusing intensely on something.

She did her thing anyway. Bakugou felt the slight sting lessen around his lower face.

‘Clean the wounds. The press would be too happy to see your face infected,’ she shrugged, before disappearing. Glass shards hitting the table on a corner.

Bakugou sighed, again, and looked down his paper, again.

Victims : around 30

He finished to fill the fields. Place, time, duration, heroes intervening, aggressor captured yes/no. Tap tap tap. Last field, incomplete. Pen on the table.

Physical injury of the hero :

Fingers extended and retracted. Sore hands and forearms. He tried to massage one and the other, but his hands hurt too much to even ease some pain away by himself. Would the insurance pay for painkillers? Bakugou reread the line and sighed. Picked the pen. They probably wouldn’t.

Physical injury of the hero : none

There. Done and over with.

He took out his phone. 8 more texts on the aforementioned useless group chat. 1 direct message from Pinky. They could all fucking wait. He tapped Kirishima’s contact. Outgoing call, transferred to his hearing aids. He put the phone back in a pocket and left for the administration officer. Call answered.

‘What is your favorite piece of hero merch?’ He asked directly, going about the corridors, paper sheet in hand.

‘Katsuki, thank god, hi,’ the ever-cheerful voice beamed, some wind staccato on the line. ‘That old Crimson Riot t-shirt you always steal to sleep in, what happened?’

‘Some villain messing with signal communications. You on patrol dumbass?’

‘I am yeah.’

‘Which sector?’ Bakugou handed over the paper. The office guy nodded at him and read it. Some faint light on his hearing aids indicated the man of the ongoing call, he didn’t try to talk. Bakugou was glad. He waited for the guy to tell him everything was in order.

’7 and 8, rather peaceful right now. Tornado man case went alright in the end? You alright?’

Bakugou scoffed sarcastically. ‘I’m alright. Radio was infiltrated, I wasn’t supposed to be called in the first place. Police departments never listen to me, you know how they are.’ Kirishima hummed in agreement. The office guy nodded at him and filed the paper away, Bakugou left. ‘So when I told them fire wouldn’t help, I was used to being told otherwise, so I did blast when they ordered me to, except it wasn’t them on the line.’ He shook his head as he got into an elevator. ‘Anyway. You with some hero?’

‘Am not. Are you not on duty right now?’ Kirishima laughed.

‘No sector specified, could be on duty on Mars for all it’s worth.’

Kirishima laughed again. Bakugou smiled, some sense of victory settling, he’d made Kirishima laugh. He always made Kirishima laugh. Victory every day.

‘Come around then, been a while since we’ve patrolled as a duo. I’m right out of that bar Tetsu knows.’

When he hung up, on the way to Kirishima, Bakugou caught Ashido’s text.

Pinky should’ve been a strategist.

Ashido Mina > Bakugou Katsuki
Yo mate, tornado case could be a trio? Kaminari stopped a fire Quirk in sector 31, he was with two others that escaped. Radio was buzzing there too, maybe the radio guy called you cause of your explosions? If they’d lost the fire guy to enhance the tornado, you could replace him
Might be why they infiltrated police&hero radios in the first place?

Notes:

Kaminari definitely knows the words alas and tedious and never uses them aloud, fight me

Hope you enjoyed! :)
