The Search for Splinter

Summary:

Splinter has disappeared after a car accident, and April is doing whatever she can to find him.

Work Text:

“Where’s my friend? What happened to him?”
April kept asking, even though she always got the same answer.

“Nobody else was in the van with you.”

That wasn’t true. Splinter had been in the van with her when they’d crashed.
April was taken to the hospital. But where was he?
When I get out of here, I’ll start looking right away.

But what if he was dead on the side of the road?

April started crying at the thought.

Oh, I should’ve asked him stay overnight!

It was getting late and she had offered to drive him home. Well, as close to his home as she could get, since he lived in the sewers. That was a mistake. Not long after setting out, they’d slipped on ice and crashed.

If only I’d told him earlier that I loved him.
Maybe if she had, it would’ve been easier to ask him to stay. But a relationship between them would still be taboo. She was a human, and he was a rat.

A really attractive rat.

Sure, I was scared of him at first. But only for a short time!

And every time she felt his paw touch her, gently so his claws didn’t scratch her, she’d only become more attached.

When April got home, she had an idea. She couldn’t call him, likely because the TurtleCom had been destroyed in the accident. But the Turtles had once become separated from Splinter, and managed to make a psychic connnection with him after meditating. Maybe they could try it again…

Leonardo immediately agreed to help. After hours, a vision appeared. It was blurry, but definitely Splinter. Alive and moving!

April almost squealed with excitement.
And then, without a word, he was gone.

“Now what?” she asked.

Leonardo stared solemnly.
“We keep on trying.”
