Work Text:

It was just after midnight, Tim and Lucy lying breathless in bed covered in sweat.

“That definitely did count,” Tim says looking over at Lucy who is lying next to him looking up at the ceiling. She turns to look at him with a smile.

“Yeah, I guess it did.” She sighs contentedly.

She takes another breath before turning to look at him, propping her head on her arm.

“I don’t regret it— coming here.”

He sits himself up, “Good, I don’t regret it either.”

“Do you think it’ll make things more complicated for us?”

“I don’t. We’ve always thrived at the physical aspect of our relationship and we know we need to work on our communication. We’ll have that conversation when you’re ready, I’ll give you all the answers you deserve.”

She just nods her head and gives him a warm smile. “Hey, do you mind if I take a quick shower?”

He knows after a night like they just had, she likes to freshen up. “Of course not. You know where everything is but if there’s something you need just yell.”

He waits for her to close the door before laying his head back down on the pillow. He can’t believe he has her back in this way again.

After a quick shower, he looks up to see her walking out of the bathroom, wearing one of his shirts.

“I was surprised to see that you kept everything of mine. I was expecting to just use your body wash. Not that I would’ve minded smelling like you,” she flirts as she pulls back the covers so she can get in bed again.

“Probably sounds silly but I couldn’t get myself to get rid of them. Or anything of yours.” He shrugs looking over at her. She gives him a sweet smile as she walks up to the bed.

Before she lays down, she stops herself. Tim can see the panic in her eyes.

“What’s wrong?”

“I guess I didn’t even ask, but can I stay here tonight?”

“Of course Luce. I wasn’t going to let you go home this late anyways. If it makes you more comfortable, I can take the couch,” he goes to get up before she puts a hand out to stop him.

“Not a chance. Get back in bed so you can hold me.”

He of course does what he’s asked and lays back down. She closes the distance between them and curls up on his chest.

“Mmm night Luce,” he places a kiss on her scalp while tightening his grip around her.

“Good night, Tim.” She immediately follows it with a yawn and tries to bury herself impossible further into his body.

He waits until her breathing evens out before drifting off himself.

Tim woke up only a few short hours later to an empty bed next to him. At first he panicked, wondering if she had ultimately regretted her decision coming. After silencing his alarm, he saw he had a message from her.

Lucy: Sorry to sneak out but wanted to get home before Celina noticed I was gone. See you at the station 💕

Letting out a sigh of relief, he sends her a quick message back before putting his phone away.

Tim: Glad I didn’t scare you away. See you soon.

He decided then he was going to stop and get them both a coffee before going in. They both were going to need the caffeine today.

After getting their coffees and changing out, he was immediately called into Grey’s office. Never a good way to start the day.

“What’s up?” Tim walks into the office before closing the door.

“We have a problem. Social media intern posted that all crime is legal. It’s going to be a long day,” he sighs rubbing the sides of his temple.

“What? That’s absolutely ridiculous.”

“I know. We need to be prepared. Keeping Penn in house today, I need you to stay focused. You’re riding with Chen. Please help pass this along.”

Before Tim can even respond, Grey’s phone rings. He walks out of the office and sees Lucy and Celina walking up to him.

“For you,” he hands Lucy her coffee with a small smile, in which she returns.

“Alright, Grey wanted me to pass this along. Today’s going to be a long day.”

“Why?” Both girls give each other a confused look.

“Social media intern posted that all crime is legal. Go nuts.”

“People have to know this is a joke.” Celina looks up at him.

“Your faith in humanity is a lot stronger than mine.” Tim says putting his phone away.

“Chen, you’re riding with me today. Juarez, you’re with Nolan.” He gives the two a nod before walking away.

The first call Tim and Lucy respond to is a gas station robbery. By the time they arrive on scene, the men were making a run for it.

Lucy hops out of the car and begins chasing one on foot while Tim goes after the other in the shop. As she’s running, she lost her footing and fell onto the gravel.

She knew she was scraped up but couldn’t worry about that now. She quickly got up and started running again. The suspect had basically backed himself into a corner and she was able to take him down pretty easily.

She got him cuffed just in time for backup to arrive. Tim had gotten his guy and helped her hand him off before turning to her.

“Luc— Chen, you okay?”

“Yeah, just a few scraps but I’m okay.” She gave him a reassuring smile.

“Here, let me help you clean those and then we can we on our way to whatever else the day has in store for us.”

He grabs out the first aid kit as she leans on the back of the shop.

“Here, give me your hand.”

“If you wanted to hold my hand, you could’ve just asked,” she jokes.

He rolls his eyes but they both know it’s lighthearted.

“Am I going to live?” She repeats, thinking back to when she was cleaning him up on Valentine’s Day.

“Unfortunately, yes.” He smirks, earning him a smack to his arm.

Next he moves to clean the small cut on her face near her eye. She winces and he immediately looks down at her with a sympathetic smile before applying some antibiotic cream.

“You should be all set. But if you need more care later, you can always come back over.” He says quietly with a wink before putting everything away.

She tried to hide her smirk from him as she got back into the shop. He followed and then almost immediately they were responding to their next call.

The rest of the day was definitely something. The last call of the day was an all hands on deck with their tactical gear. They were after three suspects who were driving around the city shooting off rounds.

Lucy ended up taking down two of the suspects on her own pretty easily once they were able to locate them. Tim was always right behind her backing her up, although he knew she didn’t need it.

After hours of overtime, Lucy was about to walk out to her car to head home when Tim caught up with her.

“Hey, amazing work today.”

“Thank you. I can’t wait to go home and take a nice hot bath.”

He raises an eyebrow, “Come over? Let me take care of you.”

She thinks for a moment, she’s about to say no because she doesn’t want all the questions from Celina but everything in her is telling her to agree.

“Okay. But only if you feed me,” she jokes.

“Oh is that all it takes to win you over?” He stops walking.

“You know exactly what it takes,” she smirks before continuing to walk, not even looking back at him.

He just shakes his head and follows her. He plans to spend the rest of his life taking care of her.
