Home is where the heart is, but that's not where mine lives

Summary:

Colin Bridgerton returns home from yet another trip. And luckily his "home" is here to pick him up.

Notes:

Prompt March 30th: airport

Work Text:

Colin grabbed his suitcase and hurried toward the exit. His flight had already been delayed over two hours and now he just couldn’t wait to get out of here and back to Penelope’s. He felt horrible for having her wait for him this long, but he would make it up to her. Perhaps take her out to dinner, or better yet, cook that Spätzle dish for her that he learned from this nice German lady last week.

If it was up to him he would just spent the entire next week with Penelope in bed, but he would also have to finish up his article. And in an article on hiking the Swabian Alb he should unfortunately write about the best trails, B&Bs and food and not buying an engagement ring for his incredibly hot girlfriend, which was what he had been primarily thinking about for most of that trip.

He couldn’t wait to see it on Pen’s finger.

Instinctively he readjusted his backpack, fighting the urge to put it down and check the top pocket to make sure the ring was there like he did five minutes ago while waiting for his luggage. And just about every 20 minutes since buying it.

When the automatic doors opened, Colin looked for the familiar head of red hair and as his gaze met hers, he felt the feeling of home washing over him.
